Diseñador ambos sexos (2001)
A good show.
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** Well, what can I say? It's kinda entertaining. We can see as Hector Suarez Gomis tries to follow in his father steps, he's good, but he has a lot to learn from comedy and from his experienced comedian father.
This show is about about romance, money and sexual preferences. Here are the characters:
Juan Felipe(Hector Suarez Gomis) is the classic horny guy. He's tries to get a gob as a designer on a female underwear industry(since he studied that). The problem is: he's rejected because the industry prefers the ''other designers'', in other words, he can't take the job because he is not gay(according to Mexican comedy, female clothing designers that are men are gays). He end up passing himself off as one in order to get the job...and peep the girls. This gives him a lot of comfortable situations, but a lot of trouble as well.
Carolina Carrera(Luz Maria Zetina) is Juan Felipe's ex-girlfriend from school. She has been resented with Juan Felipe when she realized that he was nothing but a horny cheater. Carolina is a very talented designer. She works at the same enterprise in the one Juan Felipe works, and when she realized of that, she gets another reason to get more angry at him: ''He stole the opportunity of my like by passing himself off as gay''. However, we'll see that an small and unusual relationship between her and Juan Felipe begins to emerge.
Roberto Alvarez(Julio Bracho III) aka Bobby is Juan Felipe's good pal, in fact, he's the one who got the idea of the ''fake gay'' for Juan Felipe in order for him to get the desired job as a designer. Bobby is a jobless actor and dreams with being a great star, according to him, he's very talented but no one has discovered him yet.
Fabiola Montemayor(Chantal Andere) is a big friend of Carolina, she is a ambitious woman and kinda greedy(Most of Chantal's characters are greedy, but this one reveals her greed more easily, so this make her more funny). She always think on crazy plans for her and her friends, sometimes these plans are successful, sometimes they are not.
Valente Fernandez(Cesar Bono) is a designer that works on the same enterprise of Juan Felipe and Carolina, unlike Juan Felipe, he is a true gay, not to mention he has a crush on Juan Felipe. Because of this he puts Juan Felipe and the whole gang in trouble more than once.
Jean Phillipe(Hector Suarez Gomis) is the main designer of the enterprise, a gay, just like the enterprise expected. However, we all now that is all nothing but a big, fat lie, and that Jean Phillipe is a extremely horny guy that just love women.
There are plenty other characters, but these are the main ones. ''Diseñador ambos sexos'' is a good comedy show, with an Hector Suarez Gomis following the family tradition(Or should I say, the example of his father and his uncle). He has a lot to learn, but he is a good learner, so this will be a good show to watch, kinda entertaining, so don't skip it.
It (1990)
Prepare to fight your Fears.
Well, I remember that I was about six or seven when I saw ''It'', and, gosh, it really scared the crap out of me. However, I didn't got scared of any other clown, but I remember that I was so afraid of Pennywise that I made my ''hero clowns'' in order to defend myself against Pennywise (They were Ronald McDonald and Rorrito [a Mexican clown from Mexicali], by the way).
But, a couple of years later, I gathered enough courage to face ''It'', and, like the kids from the flick, I defeated ''It''. Since then, I always watch ''It'' with full delight.
The movie talk about a small town in Maine(Why a lot of horror flicks take place on Maine?) which is under the horror of ''It'' and his description is the one Ben gives: Some kind of evil being that reads our minds and takes the forms of our deepest fears. ''It'' also takes the form of a nasty clown called Pennywise(Let's call it ''his standart form''). He attacks the children of Derry every 30 years and make them lose their minds on lights he emits(I think they call them ''Lights of Death''). He was defeated on the 60's by seven children who decided to fight their fears in order to get rid of ''It'', but they weren't very sure if he was defeated, so they made a pact: If ''It'' wasn't really dead, they'll come back to Derry to destroy him...30 years later one of them realized that ''It'' is alive and that the ''Losers'' will have to fulfill their pact to finish this nightmare once it for all...
This flick shows, in my opinion, a big lesson of loyalty, courage and friendship. When I first saw it, I thought it was ''It'' who killed Stan, but later I found that he committed suicide (Hey! I was a kid then and I didn't have any idea of what was suicide). I came to the conclusion that Stan killed himself because he was weak. The other ones seek ''It'' to destroy him, but in the end, Eddie sacrifices himself to kill ''It''.
I came to the conclusion that is a story about children struggling in a disgusting adult world, they knew that no adult was going to help them, and using only their courage, fraternity and faith, defeated ''It''. I wonder why they didn't wanted to face ''It'' now that they knew he was alive. They were supposed to be more brave now that they were adults, but Oh surprise! they were more scared. my question was ''Why?'' I think because they got traumas. I heard that a adult get kinda lot of traumas, but don't ask me about that: I'm only seventeen.
So, is very scary, but it gives you the message of: ''Fight your fears''. So, this is an excellent mini-serie to watch. Don't forget the novel. Stephen King, you mad a good one.
Sobrenatural (1996)
A great horror film.
Add suspense, a little bit of horror and a lot of mystery and what you got? SOBRENATURAL. An excelent horror film as Mexican as me. This movie is for the ones that are already sick of gore and blood spilling here and there. However, this film's not for every viewer. You need to have BRAINS in order to understand the whole flick. Most viewers refused it because they were dissapointed (lack of gore) and they had not the desire of think. You are gonna have to watch this movie about 6 or 7 times to understand it all (I already watched it 4 times and I still can't find out what was the knives under the furniture for). Most people that watched it says that the end of the movie is on the scene where Dolores' husband's face is seen through a fishbowl. If my memory doesn't fail, the final scene is when Dolores walks down the stairs and leaves a watch in one of the stairs.(I'm not very sure but I think is the same she took at the beggining of the movie). Some scenes are pretty cool, such as the ones where Dolores visits Madame Endor. Some other are weird, like the one that Dolores puts some weird stuff on Andres' orange juice and he end up making mombo jombo with her (Lots of lonely girls would like to do the same thing to a bunch of handsome guys). One I liked very much is when Doctor Riojas visits Madame Endor, in one of the classics scenes where magic and science collides. I also liked the zombie look, I was really glad that the film broke with the tradition of stupid corpses walking without any sense. The zombie you see comes from the voodooh tradition of Haiti. Is just a black guy that walks normally, never on a hurry and that carries a dog. And by the way, the one who played the zombie was actually a woman! Kinda framin', huh? The effects didn't suck, in fact I liked that fast motion camera angles that in some certain moments will give you the creeps, I liked it a lot. And the most surprising one is when Dolores found out that her husband was behind all. That Eva bewitched him and he summoned Naganga (The voodooh spirit) in order to get rid of her, but Naganga told him he wanted Dolores, and he tried to do other stuff to convince Naganga not to take Dolores by making other sacrifices (such as Dolores' poor little pet dog). At the end he gets killed by the zombie, and the zombie killed him in a very curious way: with just a headbutt. He didn't dismembered him to pieces like his living dead counterparts, he killed him with just a headbutt. Totally different, eh? But Andres didn't died at all, because Dolores spilled his body with the powder she smelled and he came back to life, but end up mute...
So, if you want a totally different horror film, Sobrenatural is the best choice. Do you love gore? This is not the movie you should watch. Are you looking for horror, suspense and mystery? Well this movie is the perfect one. I give you my word.
