i mean, yeah, its an action movie so expect the writing to be horrible. but vin diesel and asia argento are great, the action scenes will wow you, and the little gadgets are just neat. the directing was pretty good too, come to think of it. go see it in the theatres while you still can because it wouldn't be the same on video

asia argento has done better movies though. check out "scarlet diva" and "travelling companion," if you can find them

it was so horrible it was funny. the only question i asked myself after seeing it was "why were my 2 friends and i the only ones laughing in the theatre??"

but we had good fun doing an impression of the alien walking, so i guess it wasn't a total waste of money

memorable quote: "i'll have a cheeseburger.. with bacon.... EXTRA bacon"

The only problem was that I got an Italian version of the video without subtitles, so I had no idea what was going on in a few parts. Argento's directing is great and even thought the imdb site lists this as a drama, the video cover says its a comedy. I think both genres fit and I've never seen such a crude yet beautiful movie before.

I only watched about half of this movie, and there were a few funny lines, but for the most part it was boring and some of the characters were just plain annoying (mainly that playwrite girl.)

I guess I'm just not nerdy enough for a mamet movie.

I found this film to be boring and cliched, but Vietnam looked so pretty that I couldn't give it anything lower than a 5 out of 10.

My geography teacher seemed to love it... but he's really really white.

The subtitles are near impossible to read. I'm not sure if that's done on purpose or what, but i thought it was annoying.

The little boy in the film is cute.

That's really all I got out of this movie. I felt as if all the rest has been done before. If you care to find out more, read other people's critiques.

I happened to be watching the International Channel the other night (gotta love it!) and this movie came on. At first I didn't think I'd like it because it was set in the early 1900s and it didn't seem too interesting, but I kept watching for some reason. I'm really glad I did because this movie was great. Here's the I-channel's summary of it:

St Petersburg, 1907. The young and carefree Natalia should be perfectly happy. She has a handsome little boy, a rich husband who allows her to live as she chooses and lovers who desire her. Yet, a chance encounter with a stranger forever alters her peaceful life. Echoing Natalia's secret desire for independence, her husband is murdered that very same night.

I don't want to give too much away, but this movie was beautifully written and I would recommend it to anyone.
