House of the Dragon (2022– )

Like watching paint dry
29 August 2022
The characters are one dimensional and there is no chemistry between any of them on screen. The special effects are laughable compared to what GOT was able to pull off even in it's first season. There is no sense of excitement or magic that game of thrones had. It is not immersive in the slightest, just boring conversation after boring conversation. Yes this is more political than game of thrones, but it is not a fun watch at all, which it very well could be. I've had to take breaks every 20 minutes to go do something else before I can finish an episode. Hopefully this gets better. I won't be recommending this to anybody.

House of the Dragon: The Rogue Prince (2022)

Terrible so far
29 August 2022
This is certainly not game of thrones. There is no magic or adventure to this series. The special effects are very clunky looking, I laughed out loud in a few of the dragon scenes. The graphics are far behind what game of thrones accomplished. There is very little excitement in the two episodes so far. The characters have no chemistry or real good/fun qualities that make you look forward to watching their scenes. The entire thing is all very monotonous and bland. I understand this is more of a history show but there is still plenty of room to add tones of excitement or drama or comedy. What a dreadful watch.

Sy-fy channel could have done better.

I don't know where to start. The graphics were good, the sets exciting, the dinosaurs plentiful. But the good ends there. The actual movie; the dialogue was laughable, it was like they used the first draft and didn't revise or put thought into anything spoken in this movie, the plot was cheap and overly convenient, the sequence of events didn't make any sense.

For example, two people are hanging onto a platform while a dinosaur tears and tosses it around and the characters are sliding down and losing grip and just before the dinosaur tears it off along with the characters thankfully there's a cut right then and next you see the characters jumping to the safety of the room conveniently.

Another scene when one character lands in a parachute in the jungle and another set of characters land on a lake across the jungle. Literally miles and miles away. And it the next scene the set of characters just happens to walk upon the sight of where the parachute landed. You're telling me that they, not having the slightest idea where this person could have landed, just happened to traverse miles upon miles through a dense and dinosaur filled forest and come across the exact location of their lost friend. How pathetically convenient. This is one of dozens of examples of how ridiculous this entire film was. I'm offended that the production team thinks I am as stupid as that.

Other than that I am at a loss for words. What a horrible way to ruin this trilogy. Hopefully the next reboot will be better, but let's let this movie air out for a few years before we try to get back into this universe.

Worth one watch on a slow night
13 January 2022
This movie was pretty much what you'd expect from a Blumhouse picture. Along with other awful movies like Fantasy Island, Us, Happy Death Day, Ouija, Truth or Dare. It was rather boring, with a few redeeming scenes. But once the action started at the end of the movie it was poorly executed and not engaging at all. I found myself on my phone for most of the movie , it just wasn't good.

This films audience is probably for teenagers with simple taste in horror movies. This is nothing smart or scary or interesting. I do love the idea though, it just wasn't properly executed.

Pretty awesome

This show is pretty exciting! The script is obvious, pathetic, and laughable, but who doesn't love a little cheese? Suspend your disbelief, laugh at the silliness, and enjoy the ride. It's so bad that it's good!

It all builds to one point
6 December 2021
This movie has one of the most tense and frightening climaxes I've ever seen. The last half hour of the film will have you biting your nails to the quick. Aside from the infamous tent scene though, there is little else to offer. The movie was constructed for that last third, all of the bland interviews and conversations of the first half are simply there to create a realistic feel for the movie and the characters, and then when the scares finally show up that's where all the tedious parts of the film come through, and I'm entirely fine with that if it effectively gets me curling up in a ball trying not to turn off the movie before things get real scary.

Don't expect a blockbuster here. Instead think of it as a subtle 45 minute build up to a scare you'll never forget.

Can't wait for season 4
15 October 2021
Wow!!! Season two was not my favorite but this season brought it all back and then shot it way up into space. It is so crazy and melodramatic that you just can't take your eyes off the tv. I watched this entire season in one sitting, I just couldn't resist. Best season yet and by the looks of it season four will be even more of a wild ride.

Amazing!!!
24 September 2021
This one is sure to please sci-fi fans all around! Foundation is in fact the 'foundation' of modern space fiction greats like Star Wars and Star Trek, and it has finally been given the budget it needs to bring it to the screen without watering down any of the magic. It is grand. It is powerful. It translates the feel of the first novel very well, I look forward to watching this over the next couple months.

Dragon Rider (2020)
This story was imagined more than 20 years ago
22 September 2021
From what I've seen in the comments people are calling this a rip off of how to train your dragon, Eragon, Moana. This film and story is adapted from a book written more than 2 decades ago. If these reviewers took 30 seconds to do a quick google search they would find that all of the movies that this one is "pulling ideas from" might in fact be taking ideas directly from Cornelia Funkes 'Dragon Rider'. Now this film did not do the original text justice but it is as original as a story gets and largely influences other dragon animations of the last 20 years. Unless of course you're suggesting that the author has super powers and was able to time travel, watch movies that would be released well into the future, and then pen a story about them, you people are nuts.

***Know your facts before you post them on the internet people, otherwise you just sound stupid. :)

Great slasher
22 September 2021
This movie had such a twist at the end that I'm sure nobody saw coming. It doesn't portray itself as a smart movie, simply a satisfying gore fest. Not to mention the home invasion scene. That will stick in my mind forever as one of the most tense and frightening scenes I've ever witnessed.

Pretty good movie. Very underviewed as far as worldwide gross goes. If this movie was made even 10 years ago I think it would have done exceptionally better.

Possibly the worst episode in the show
8 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I really hate how much I don't enjoy this season. This being one of my favourite shows this season, and especially this particular episode, just really didn't hit home. My first problem with this season is that it's just not funny, it's about serious matters, and yes, this is the characters tying up loose ends and making a future for themselves, but where did the comedy go?

And for this episode especially, David cheats on Patrick and it's a 30 second conversation about "oh yeah I guess that could happen now that I think of it". Like... WHAT?! I don't know. I don't understand how that could be brushed off so easily and not hurt the wedding. That kind of ruined David's character for me, he's not ready to be married if he doesn't see a problem with that. So his character really hasn't developed since the earlier immature seasons of his character.

The wedding was rushed as well, after the vows it showed nothing but the final goodbye.

Overall this entire season has absolutely sucked and this episode was so bad it really leaves me on a bitter note. I'll have to just stick to watching the older seasons. Such a shame to see one of my favourite shows turn into this.

Not quite believable
4 March 2020
If Alexis was as into Ted as she seemed to be she wouldn't jump into another guys bed so soon. Realistically it takes quite some time to recover from a serious breakup like that. The last few episodes haven't been very good with the unbelievable characters.

Very good
27 February 2020
This was a very good episode. Tugged the heartstrings and it ended in such an unexpected way that was very moving. But I have to say, where is the comedy in this season?! I have only laughed a handful of times, whereas in the earlier seasons I couldn't stop. This show has lots to address but the great comedy it is known for shouldn't be sacrificed in the process.

Either way this was a highlight episode for not only the season but the entire series. Well done.

The Witcher: Four Marks (2019)
Season 1, Episode 2
Cringey
30 December 2019
Half this episode I was cringing. Can't stand the annoying singer. There aren't any likeable characters. There's no story here, this is all preceding an event that the viewer knows nothing about so here I am just third wheeling, awkwardly playing on my phone because I have no idea what's going on and I don't care. I think this show is more to please those who have read the book and already know what this is about. Not at all how to start a successful television series. This is trying too hard to be Game of Thrones, it's plain to see. I give it one more episode before I completely give up.

What a cringe fest
24 November 2019
This movie was so bad. I really don't have words for how I feel after watching it. None of it made sense, this director thinks he's something he's not because people liked his first film (which I also did not enjoy). There was absolutely no common sense, a few examples are

  • when the woman is told to cuff herself to the table, why not cuff yourself to the leg so you can slide it off and free yourself? Rather than actually trapping yourself. And when she's reaching for the fire hook she couldn't just drag the table? She had to pick it up with her foot? Hmm. And if the hook broke the wooden bar so easily why could you not do it yourself?

  • when her face is being pressed into the table and the glass starts cracking, I'm sorry but you would suffer brain damage before the force would be enough to crack a glass table.

  • when the person stabs the car window with scissors and they go through the window, there is absolutely no way in hell that that is possible.

  • when the young girl is running away she runs right in the middle of the street in perfect light, common sense would be to get off the road and out of the streetlights? And when the 'twin' finds her the girl lays on the road. SHE ACTUALLY LAYS DOWN to look for her. That's not a good position to be in if you have to run suddenly. Good way to get yourself killed.

  • the young girl when she's in the neighbours house walks through the hall, not looking around at all. If there are people hunting you you'd better look all around you.

  • when the daughters twin is on the car and it stops suddenly, the girl flies backwards into a tree, a 3 year old could even tell you that in that situation you would fall forward, I couldn't believe the stupidity of it. And I'm a fan of the Scary Movie series.

  • The mom 'twin's' voice made me laugh out loud at how bad it was.

I could go on all night about how awful this film was, but I'd sooner just forget about the whole ordeal. I will say that I did like main plot idea (until the half assed explanation at the end that made no sense). I really wanted to like this but every 5 minutes I was shaking my head in disbelief at the utter stupidity of the characters. Elisabeth Moss put your talent to better use next time.

Better than the first in almost every way
14 November 2019
This movie was so much better than the first. It was funnier, had more action, better gore and CG. I don't think it was anything like the first, but for the characters and a few of the inside jokes. This sequel was in no way necessary but it was fun to watch. If I third film comes out I'll see that too. Some people just don't understand that it's only a movie, sit there and have a good time. No need to bash it for following a formula that is effective. Cashgrab or not I'll gladly pay to see these films.

Not that bad
17 October 2019
This movie was intense. The suspense and horror were there throughout the entire film. It's mostly realistic and satisfying by the end. I just think it should have had a more formulaic approach, that she was methodically killing people, which she was. I just felt like it could have been better for the viewer to really get inside her mind. Overall this was a good movie, sit back, relax, and let Ma take care of you. You'll have a lot of fun!

What you'd expect
16 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is pretty much what I expected. It does have some intense scenes. It does get under your skin at times. My only issue with it was as hard as I tried I just couldn't suspend my disbelief. I mean, who gets attacked by an alligator (let alone an abnormally massive one) 3 TIMES and just walks it off.

Haley; if you get dragged by an alligator you're pretty much dead already. In the very slim chance that he does let you go, because believe me, if that alligator doesn't want to let go, it will not let go until you're dead or the limb it's chosen has come off. But let's say luck was on your side today, once it did let go you would in no way be able run away. Yes I understand you might be in shock and not feel a thing, sure. But that leg would not be able to support your weight after just being crushed by more than 2100 psi (13x stronger than a humans). But okay you got away, good job. Then it happens an hour later, this time the alligator bit your arm. You shot it and it leg go. Kind of believable. That much force on your arm though would likely rip it off (like shown later), so chances of you being able to even move your finger to pull the trigger is very unlikely. Now that I mention that, the dad. He gets his arm bit clean on in a matter of a second. Why did that not happen to any of the other victims? They got away just fine with little more than a cut. And lastly for Haley, she got her arm again in a gators mouth, but this time the gator did the death roll. Will this is happening she's just casually swimming in circles with it. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. That move it their way of tearing apart their food, so no you would not just swim in the same motion and be fine, your arm should realistically be gone. Should have been gone a while ago.

Now for the dad, he had a bone sticking out of his leg. A literal bone! You can not tell me that he just pushed that bone back into his leg with little more than a grunt of pain. First of all you would pass out just by looking at that leg, if not then, by even the slightest touch you would be screaming in agonizing pain. So please don't try to make me believe you just push it back in and walk it off like it's a little bruise. And when he did finally lose his arm that would cause you to be pouring blood, which would cause you to pass out and eventually die within a matter of minutes. There's a reason these animals have been around well before our time, they are perfect hunters and can kill with one bite. As an animal enthusiast who knows what an alligator can do, these people should not have survived 20 minutes

But overall if I can get past all the blatant stupidity I saw, I actually enjoyed this movie. It was fun.

So don't let my nitpicking deter you, watch it! Just don't take it too seriously, it's a seriously fun movie.

This was interesting
14 October 2019
This movie isn't really what you might expect by reading the synopsis or watching a trailer. It has so many layers, each on a different level of darkness and complexity, that I really couldn't explain this film if I tried. This is an art film with war undertones wrapped up in a red ribbon of blood and madness. Nothing is as it seems, and just when you think you finally know what the hell is going on the whole story changes direction. The end scene was quite... horrific, I should say. Yet I wasn't that bothered by the graphic chaos of it all. I was in awe of what I was seeing, and isn't that the whole point of this film? To see something negative but shed a new light on it.

Anyways this is a long movie and it's definitely not for everyone, but I quite enjoyed it. Even though I wasn't sure what exactly I was watching.

Really not necessary
12 October 2019
This movie is basically an extra episode of breaking bad. I honestly didn't love the tv show but I found it a lot better than this. This "movie" was incredibly slow, really nothing happened that couldn't be summed up in under a minute, and overall the ending just wasn't worth a 6 year wait, or even the two hour runtime to get through this show. The big question that this movie is supposedly trying to answer is 'can Jesse live with his past and move on?', well we got no answer. He changed his identity and drove off in a car, just when you might actually get an answer to that question the credits roll. This show shouldn't have been brought back if it had nothing to add.

What a mess of a movie
9 October 2019
This movie was very intriguing... for about 15 minutes. Then it got stupid. Give it another 15 minutes and you start again at the beginning, 30 minutes later, the same thing. Basically this movie is a 30 minute short film played on repeat for a mysterious effect. It was mysterious alright, but I just didn't care enough at that point to care about finding out what was going on. The characters were ridiculous and annoying. Each one died like 3 times in the movie and then just came back for the next scene. Could have been so much better, it's too bad to see that the good streak of Stephen King book to movie adaptations might be over again.

Laughable
16 September 2019
This show is bad beyond words. The dialogue is horrible. The acting is wooden. The story is unoriginal and frankly not that intriguing. Assuming there is a storyline, so far I haven't found one. The creator of this show has no idea how nature works, from the sharks attacking them each time they go in the water, to the curious lack of terrestrial animals on that island. Speaking of which, is it even an island they're on? So far all they've done is stay in one spot complaining that they're stuck on the island.

Overall this show seems more like a 15 year olds school project.

Wrapping up loose ends
6 September 2019
This was much better than I was expecting. Going into this season I was worried that it would feel like something was missing. But after watching this first episode I have hope that this will be a satisfying final season. This episode didn't introduce much new material, just finished up what season 4 left us with and then we got an introduction from Joanie. There was never a dull moment in this episode. I am very impressed.

Disappointing
29 August 2019
The best way to sum this movie up is by watching the trailer pretty much. It shows every single 'scary' scene in the movie so there's no way to be scared or guessing what might happen next. So that was a major let down.

Next. I understand that this is targeted for a younger audience but this was over the top stupid and unbelievable. A few things that stand out in my memory now are; When the cop is standing in front of the Jangling Man, he literally just stands there. This monster is coming towards him and he does not move a muscle. Not sure who would do that but okay. When the cop says the 'red spot' girl is going to be in the loonie bin for the rest of her life. Based on what? She had a panic attack an hour ago, that's not a life sentence to an asylum. When the guy goes to get that wax sound machine to listen to Sarah Bellows, he just walks right over to the cupboard and pulls this machine out like he knew exactly where it was. When the hospital workers shut down the whole building with red lights flashing and alarms going off because they saw a kid run down a hallway.

I could go on and on about how poor everything in this film was but I just don't care anymore. Being a HUGE fan of the book series I feel very let down by this movie. I suggest just watch the trailer, it shows every single scene one might want to watch in that movie.
