Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995)
Transformation through dark comedy and coming-of-age
It's a intrinsic look at "abuse" as a whole.
The relationships made in the movie aren't made as The point of the movie but they're actually just sequelas from the intense abuse from they're families and they're way of living.
Welcome to the Dollhouse ends up being a long look at a disturbed girl.
We have the ballet as a motif in the innocence of her little sister.
Solondz goes deeper in the story of a 13 year old girl, and the fact that the actress actually had a coming of age of some sorts, while recording the movie makes me think about the actual trip that the movie takes.
Now, there are actually some lines that go without that much of a background like the "legalize" stuff.
Papá Youtuber (2019)
The title is Papá Youtuber
The script structure is actually good, all the characters make sense all the time, you're not walking in to see a deep, symbolized scenario where the main character has a more visual learning. It's a dialogue movie, that has an objective audience. It gives you what you expected, that's about it.
Chicuarotes (2019)
glib, empty.
I feel this movie is overhyped by the people because of it's fake deepness, it doesn't have anything but a "reality" so it's just full of homophobic remarks and the writer spitting "hey this is wrong by the way". The decisions the main character takes are ridiculous constantly and they don't have normal consequences, it always works out some way. Every image is beautiful but it lacks of a good writing. By the way, the actors actually do the best they can, but there's no saving for the script.
Summary: Empty and beautiful
El caudillo pardo (2005)
Monologue after monologue
Outrageous, crazy, obscene. Real.
Aldo Salvini actually made a real life nazi say all of the things he believes in, and actually makes you feel empathized with Jorge, until he actually talks and expresses himself. It's even funny, the discussions with the other nazis and the final picture que wanted to take. This is not a documentary about a man's work, it's about a man's beliefs, a man's sorrow and his story.
Paddleton (2019)
"I'm the other guy"
I loved this movie with all of my heart. Both characters are interesting. The whole story is just so beautiful, the relationship between these two guys and basically what is like a road trip to DEATH. Ray Romano and Mark Duplass are one of the best duos ever, fight me. I've watched this 4 times and every time I see it, I cry my eyes out.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Jim Is Still Jim
I mean, there's a lot of characters that don't have any purpose. It's a great movie with a bunch of 4th wall breaking that I don't enjoy that much. Anyways, the movie is a must watch if you like dry humor. Adam Driver and Bill Murray are a great duo.
