Disappointment after Smith's "Triangle"
24 August 2022
I don't know how Christopher went from this to Triangle but I'm so so so so glad he did. Triangle is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, that's for sure. However, I don't think this slasher really shows his abilities as a director or a writer.

Constant clichés, an ambiguous soundtrack, and mid editing are a few elements that constitute this movie. A very unrealistic story with very unrealistic and unexplained events, in which no character really gets your attention enough for you to care when or if they die.

I don't hate the concept. I just don't think it was developed cleverly enough for it to work.

I didn't really like other aspects such as the acting or even the lighting at some points. I understand this is a low-budget film, so they probably did just what they could with those kinds of details. However, low budget doesn't excuse the generic and sometimes even boring writing.

I deeply admire Christopher Smith for his project Triangle, and I'm so glad they trusted him to make it, but that's the exact reason why I'm being so critical on this one, because I know he can do much; I said MUCH, better.

Not my cup of tea, wouldn't have watched it if it weren't for Chris.

Aaah, yes.

I was way too young when I first watched this movie. Way too young to understand the psychedelic theme or to realize how realistic and raw the conflict was, I just thought it was weird. However, now that I rewatched it, I am just grateful that this movie exists.

It presents such incredibly written and defined characters with characteristics you can definitely see in real people that you most likely know, so you low-key know more about their thought process and can engage better with them. Despite that, that doesn't mean they're predictable - at all!

The constant tension building with always an amazing climax/release and the way you can feel the events along with the characters just make it so enjoyable, I felt so involve in it the whole time.

It's definitely not a conventional horror movie. It likes to play with your mind with tricks like ambiguity or by using specific visual tricks to mess with you and achieve that not "scary" but tense and frightening feel.

I just know I'll be watching it again in like about a year and a half max. Great one! Can't wait for Disappointment Blvd.

Disturbingly Realistic
24 August 2021
This movie is known to have an impact on those who watch it, and it's for a good reason.

I kind of knew what I was getting into when I started watching this movie (I don't watch trailers because I don't want a single frame spoiled!), but I had no idea it would be so tough. Everything just feels so real -- like it could actually happen. And believe me when I tell you I would believe this was based on true events if someone ever told me.

The movie has a very good setting throughout, and the actors are excellent, all of them. The script is smooth, entertaining, and keeps your eyes wide open wondering what will happen next every second.

As I said, it's a tough movie to watch -- I pretty much suffered. I'd recommend this film to anyone brave enough to face the raw truth of one side of the society and is okay with blood. Great one.

Extremely Predictable
24 August 2021
This is the worst Saw movie I have ever watched, and I'm speaking as a Saw franchise fan.

The movie was just so unoriginal, so predictable, the traps weren't iconic at all, the characters are all very very forgettable, the script is simple...

Really didn't enjoy this one, thank God it wasn't so promoted or it would've been a letdown for everyone else too.

My recommendation is only to watch this movie if you're very bored/interested in the Saw franchise, but you can really live without it.

Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
I was disappointed with this movie, honestly.

It has a great cast and it's very well directed, apart from having stunning effects and incredible shots. But the movie is plain and just basically the same as the first one.

I know, right? What did I expect from a part two of a movie about a escape room?

But anyways, they tried to pull this Sonya story as something mysteryous that was actually later revealed in seconds and it wasn't so great or intelligent or whatever, not gonna lie. Didn't like how they used the "If you didn't see it, it never happened" line to basically explain everything. Yeah, the rooms were cool, very entertaining, but that's really about it.

There are some very questionable things like, we know how the two characters from the first part got into that train, but, the others were just there? Also, why on earth would they have to collect the acid that was raining to melt the padlock when it was raining ON it too? Wouldn't it have melted already? And by the way, what's the point of getting someone like Rachel, who doesn't feel physical pain in that kind of game if it's only going to be "curious" for the people betting? And did they all have to face a guy trying to kill them at the end of their games? I mean, they mention that but never really give an answer.

I don't know, I really hope there's no part three because they messed enough with a second one and that ending was extremely forced.

So yeah, a 6 mainly for the cast and because it's entertaining. I would only recommend to watch if you've watched the first one and are interested/bored/feel like it.

Not As Bad As Pictured - At All!
17 August 2021
I have been watching tons of classic movies lately, and when I saw there was a 2013 movie related to the Texas Chain Saw Massacre I ran to its IMDB page to add it to my watchlist - I've always found 2013 a very interesting year for the genre. When I did so, I was kind of put off by the HORRIBLE reviews and pretty bad rating I saw on the web, but I decided to watch anyways.

I undestand why you wouldn't like this kind of film, since it messes with the Leatherface personality which had been portrayed so far, and basically since it's very very different from the original. However, what did you expect!? The same exact thing but with a greater budget?

Although some parts of the movie don't sit right with me, the script could be better, and effects are not the best, I enjoyed this movie! Might be worse if you compare it to others in the franchise, but I think it's a nice independent movie.

To sum up, it's not the best movie I've watched by very far, but it's nice and entertaining - definitely not a 4.8/10 (August 17th, 2021). I would recommend it to anyone who is into slasher, thriller and maybe a little drama for this one (unrated version is great if you like gore as well!).
