The Flash: Into the Void (2019)
Hopeful for this season
This wasn't a perfect episode, but I like the direction the new show runner is going. There weren't any of the cringey bad jokes that were a problem in season 4 and 5 and characters were finally acting like themselves again. Cisco is more like season 1 Cisco, which is a step up, and Iris wasn't unbearable. The new villain, Ramsey Rosso, is interesting and it looks like they won't be dragging his story out, unlike Cicada last season. The only thing I didn't like was the killer frost storyline for Caitlin, but other than that, the episode was great.
Arrow: Star City 2040 (2019)
I don't care about the flash forwards
This review is a little unfair because the episode was structured really well, but I just don't care about the flash forwards. I'm not a huge fan of the characters. They just seem like discount versions of Oliver. I'm hoping the rest of the season is heavily focused on the present
Arrow: Training Day (2019)
The storyline really needs to come into focus
The episode was good, especially the bronze tiger and Laurel part. I also liked that Emiko reveal at the end. However, the season really needs to focus on its storyline. Dante has to start getting developed and there have to be actual stakes. I also feel like the flash forwards are just distracting and pointless at this point
Arrow: Brothers & Sisters (2019)
Ending redeemed the episode
This episode doesn't start out amazing. It's actually a little cringey. However, the ending redeemed it for me. Diaz really needed to die and Dante looks like he'll be a real threat. I just hope they develop him well
Arrow: Star City Slayer (2019)
Restores my hope for the season
After two mediocre episodes, this one was really great to watch. Stanley was convincing and scary to watch and although the haunted house was a little over the top, it still worked for me. Also Curtis left so that's always a win
Arrow: Emerald Archer (2019)
Overrated
The documentary style didn't really work for me to be honest. The fights were good and that one scene with Oliver and Diggle, but it all just felt forced and pointless.
Arrow: Past Sins (2019)
Something was off
This episode started out great with the flashbacks to Oliver and Emiko, but after that everything just seemed a little... off. Oliver was actually kind of boring and didn't really do much. It was a filler so I'll give it some leeway
Arrow: My Name Is Emiko Queen (2019)
Underrated
A lot of people gave this episode hate, but I thought it was an effective mid season premiere. Emiko didn't get a lot of development, but the parallels with Oliver were great and I have faith they'll do her character justice
Arrow: Unmasked (2018)
Season 1 vibes
This reminded me of the glory days of arrow. Fight scenes were great once again and the new green arrow reveal gave me feels. I really liked how the brought back max fuller to tie in to season 1
Arrow: Due Process (2018)
Diaz was actually interesting at the end
The episode deserves a good review just because Anatoly was in it, but it a lot a lot of other good stuff too. My only problem was that Diaz wanted to blow up the city, which is the most generic villain plan in this show. The standoff with him and Felicity at the end made up for it though
Arrow: The Demon (2018)
Damn
Talia being the demon was kind of predictable, but it worked for me. Oliver was a badass in the episode. That fight scene with the prison guards was amazing. The Curtis stuff was alright and probably set up stuff later in the season, but I'm not a huge Curtis fan. Great episode though
Arrow: Level Two (2018)
Prison storyline is great
I really like how they're diving into how Oliver's life as a vigilante has effected him. All of the level two scenes were great. My only problem was that the arsonist storyline kind of felt pointless, but it didn't really bother me that much
Arrow: Crossing Lines (2018)
Great fights
This episode had some great fights especially the ones with bronze tiger and Sampson. Diaz didn't even annoy me that much and I'm hoping whatever serum he got makes him a little more interesting
Arrow: The Longbow Hunters (2018)
Diaz needs to go
I actually really liked the long bow hunters and feel like the could be good villains, but Diaz really needs to die. He isn't interesting at all. Even though there wasn't a ton of the prison story, it was definitely my favorite part of the episode. Oliver really reminds my of the old Oliver.
Arrow: Inmate 4587 (2018)
Return to form
This episode gives me season one and two vibes and makes the characters likable again. It also brings back the good choreography from the earlier seasons. My only problem is the flash forwards because I feel like they might start taking away from how relevant present day is.
