Dune: Part Two (2024)
This is probably the worst movie I've ever seen in my life
I have no idea why so many people are raving about this one. It was a pain to finish it. I'll list all the reasons why this movie is NOT one of the best movies as per other reviews:
1) No romantic or sexual tensions between the two leads, they seemed more like brother and sister.
2) Zendaya's character falls in love with this guy, for no reason. Just because he is the main guy, I guess.
3) Timothy although is a famous actor, didn't have the stage presence to pull off sand Jesus. It doesn't feel like a commander, people just listen to him and it doesn't feel normal.
4) The story progresses SOOO slowly, there are so many parts of this movie that don't make the story progress in any way.
5) The story is also so incredibly annoying - the guy says that he will never go to the south, 10 minutes later he is going to the south. Strong convictions dude. He says he doesn't want anyone to die, two seconds later he is totally cool with it. Yes, he drank the water, so what? You don't have strong values, sand Jesus?
6) The only "jokes" if you can call them that are from the goofy breaking tension character. But those are not jokes, they are just exaggerations and are not funny.
7) The bad guys are so stereotypically bad, I don't feel their motivations. Also ZERO planning ahead. Instead of killing 1000s of their soldiers, they could just recruit a special unit to learn about the sand planet and then teach the rest of the soldiers. I just don't get it.
8) The mother's transformation is also so freaking weird. I get it that that water is supposed to do some magic stuff to you but it completely kills the growth of the character and changes in ways that are not justifiable. It's very lazy writing.
9) The prophecies and stuff make no sense, if that's a planet where people believe in them and magic stuff happens, why would people not believe? Like, you can see magic and stuff, why don't you believe? Just to be a rebel?
10) Acting is also a bit not believable at times. I don't feel internal struggles. Just people looking sad.
11) This movie has no soul.
I probably have other negative things, but I feel like all of these points would already drop the rating to a 2/10.
Good things:
1) Cinematography
2) Assaults
3) Fight choreography
That's it.
They Cloned Tyrone (2023)
One of the best movie I've ever watched
Not enough people are talking about this one. It's really difficult to describe. The story is unique, full of twists. The characters come to life like I have never seen before. I just wish there were more movies like this picked up by the big studios. I admit that the story is a bit difficult to follow at times, but it pays off so much. While the plot may seem convoluted at first, the excellent performances by John Boyega, Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris keep you engaged throughout. Their chemistry shines in this sci-fi mystery that blends elements of comedy and drama seamlessly. Though the pacing lags a bit in the second act, the final reveal is worth sticking around for. They Cloned Tyrone is an ambitious and entertaining film that deserves more attention.
American Horror Stories: The Naughty List (2021)
Good
I think that the 1 star reviews are exaggerated. This was good. Not AHS usual good, but good.
Hjem til jul (2019)
Honest review, not like the rest of those suckers
I am assuming that all the other positive reviews are either:
- paid;
- friends and family of the cast;
- Or there is a canyon between the Norwegian filmography culture and the rest of the world, and I can't clearly understand its genius.
Watched both first and second season.
These are all the negatives things on top of my head:
- The second end embarrassment is way over the top. This is definitely not a rom-com; it's just a sequence of idiocy from the main character. The character never grows. The writer makes her do stupid stuff over and over to create a cheap laugh, that honestly, never arrives;
- Love or romantic scenes seem written by a twelve years old with zero real-world experience. This is absolutely not relatable in any way;
- Women are written exactly how you would expect a man with no experience with women to write them. Awful with (once again) zero-depth and a lot of unexplained emotions;
- Social norms don't exist in this world. It's basically like The Sims - There is this scene where a guy punches another guy during a party. The main character takes the stage and starts a drunken speech that ends with clapping and roaring from the crowd. There is absolutely no bouncer that kicks this guy off the club. The socially inept guy that threw the punch meets a girl seconds after the punch (?????????). The drunken speech would be welcomed with silenced awkwardness at best and laughter at worst. Who thought this was a good idea? This is NOT how the real world works. Someone should have said something, but evidently, no one did;
- Fortuitous coincidences - they order some takeaway food, and the delivery woman was a date in the previous episode. The main character takes a leak in the streets and gets caught by the ex (and they split up like 5 hours before). Everything is just so plot-convenient.
- The list goes on.
The only positive note that I can finish with is the character of Jonas. One of the best-written characters I've ever seen. His acting is also the most convincing, intelligent, and incredible acting depth. I love everything about this character.
