surprised how great this movie was
17 August 2012
I get skeptic on watching movies that revolve around singing groups in the 50s-80s because I feel like they are all the same. However, I absolutely enjoyed and would love to see this movie again. Let me just say Carmen Ejogo is an absolutely AMAZING actress. She practically had me in tears throughout the whole movie because she betrayed her character so well! Im not familiar with Carmens work but she sold it. Shes stunningly beautiful, and I cant wait to see her in other upcoming films. Jordan Sparks off course is an amazing singer, and for being her first film she did a good job. I think with time shell be better actress. I think this movie was a great last goodbye for Whitney Houston. Im glad I was able to hear her sing one last time. (: This is definitely a must see, and I will for surely be recommending this movie to everyone I see.

Not your typical Tyler Perry movie
30 June 2012
If you're looking for a movie with an original and unpredictable storyline, then this is definitely not the movie you're looking for. i do not feel like this one of Tyler Perrys best movies nor his funniest, but it was still enjoyable to watch.

I wish they showed more recurring characters like they do in all the other Tyler Perry movies, but I understand Tyler Perry was focusing most likely on a different set of audience. Not quite familiar with Eugene Levy's work, but he is pretty hilarious. in this movie. However I cant really say the same about the rest o the actors. The acting was very mediocre. You can tell Denise Richards hasn't had a big rile in awhile because her acting in this movie made It seem Luke she just started out in the business and has only been on shows that aired in NIckolodeon and the Disney Channel. Her character was just very blah for me. The only reason why I survived this movie is because Doris Roberts does such a hilarious job at her character.

I wouldn't pay full price for this movie, but if you must see it in theaters wait til matinée or til it goes to the dollar movies.

a very enjoyable family film!
1 February 2008
Although noticeable that it was a low budget film, it was quite enjoyable to watch. I believe it to be a whole lot better than some of the independent LDS films. As always in LDS films, you have actors who aren't that strong in their roles. Taking in consideration, that this is not a HUGE motion picture. But for the most part, the main characters were more professional with more experience of course, and played their role very well. The main point and the overall moral of this movie was rather pleasing. This film is a very entertaining movie that you can enjoy with your family. And a lot good moral family movies you can't find a whole lot of these days.
