Rent-a-Pal (2020)
Engaging, great cinematography but disjointed
I went into this film blind and was really impressed throughout the first 2/3. Great cinematography, score and production. The film was making you cheer for David, his mum and Lisa. David's relationship with his mum was very sweet and endearing.
However, I felt it was forced into being more horror-esque near the end. The cruel and tortourous way his mother died broke the unwritten code of film-writing: even in horror we don't want to see the nice characters (especially animals, children or the elderly) hurt.
And Just Like That...: Hello It's Me (2021)
Fantastic start to a new chapter!
So many expectations but this episode was perfectly balanced between the friendships and family, nostalgia and tieing up loose ends. It really packed a punch. Some great new characters too. Can't wait to watch more episodes!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Individual, bizarre yet brilliant film ever!
It's hard to describe this film as it doesn't fit the normal film categories. But it is the most individual, bizarre yet brilliant film ever! It has a great mixture of catchy songs and a surreal storyline. The cast are excellent especially Tim Curry who fits into the character so well. It also shows that a great film doesn't need a big budget at all! When I first watched this film I did get quite freaked out, so don't worry if that happens to you the first time. It is very strange and is best not to compare it to any other films or have any expectations - it is in a whole different category! And a meaning? The whole Rocky Horror philosophy is really to be who you want to be ignoring the social stereotypes whilst having fun - Don't Dream It, Be It!
