Road House (2024)
A fun movie, just enjoy it and don't think too hard.
This is one of those movies that is just great entertainment. You leave your rational mind outside and just enjoy the movie. Considering this is set in Florida, you'd expect things to be sorted out by guns but people seem to be interested in fist fights and knives and stuff which is cool.
Also, you wonder why bother with all the carnage when Brandt could just buy out the roadhouse to build his hotels or whatever. However, this is what I mean when I say just leave your brain outside and enjoy the movie. Kinda has Reacher vibes almost. Action with a bit of comedy.
Gyllenhall was amazing. The amount of effort he put in to achieve the UFC look was amazing. Connor McGregor was really good. It was so cool to watch him in a movie and Daniela Melchior whom I was watching for the first time is drop dead gorgeous and a brilliant actress.
The cinematography is really cool. Goes unnoticed but it's actually really cool.
Smile (2022)
Pretty good for a comedy
Based on the number of times people laughed in the cinema hall, I think it's a fairly good comedy movie. In all seriousness though, no just skip. I only watched it because I was too late for Bullet Train and I had to kill a few hours at the mall. That's the review. Now I'm in my mid 30s, and I have no one in my life. It seems that is not going to change. I just don't get it, I mean everyone finds someone. Why can't I? Am I that ugly, that evil? And it's not like I have unrealistic expectations. Just someone to love me and someone for me to love. Sorry, I just had to vent after waiting 2 hrs on a pretty terrible movie.
Outer Range (2022)
I like the actors and characters but not sure what's really going on
I gave it a 6 because there are way too many questions that need resolving. If there is a season 2 then this might become a great show. What is up with the missing wife? Where is the older son? Where is the grand daughter? There are 2 versions of the grand daughter? Boss man really be from the 1860s? What's up with the hole? What's up with the bison?
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Psychological thriller or science fiction?
Up to episode 4, you might think you're watching a psychological thriller but episode 5 and 6 is pure science fiction. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty enjoyable but you kinda have to stop taking it seriously once the science fiction bit kicks in.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Wow that was bad
2hr49mins of bad and cringe or maybe I'm getting old. The only reason I watched the whole movie is because I like Jessica Chastain. At least I watched it on prime and didn't have to rent it.
Midsommar (2019)
I was intrigued and horny for most of the film
Yep that's pretty much it. I was intrigued and horny for most of the film.
The Surgeon's Cut (2020)
A great watch, but a difficult watch
Amazing look into the world of a surgeon. I found it difficult to watch not so much because of the surgeries but more so because it highlighted the amount of personal hardships people around the world suffer every day no matter where you live or who you are. It was very humbling and I cried many times.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
A great drama
I loved the movie and I understand why people have given this low ratings. They were expecting a sci-if action thriller but it's really a drama. Much like 'First Man" wasn't really a space movie but a human story.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
It's a vibe
Well it was nice to see some of the actors from hill house. I liked some of the other new actors as well. Not a whole lot of horror, just a vibe.
First Man (2018)
Breathtaking
I was totally blown away. Gosling and Foy were brilliant.
Messiah (2020)
Wow!
I thought after watching the trailer, this was going to be a Homeland type of show and I love these types of shows. However it turned out to be something different but in a good way. I am totally blown by the show and I hope there will be a season 2.
Downsizing (2017)
Not what I was expecting, but liked it anyway.
The trailer made it out to be a comedy with Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Neil Patrick Harris and Christoph Waltz with Matt Damon as lead. Kristen, Jason and Neil have a very tiny role, most of which you saw in the trailer. The movie starts out as a comedy but soon transitions to drama and the real star of the show is Hong Chau. In the end, even though it's not what the trailer made it out to be, the movie was very enjoyable. Some might find the movie disappointing since it's not a laugh out loud comedy, more so a movie about human emotions.
The Silence (2019)
Pretty good if you haven't seen A Quiet Place and Birdbox
If you have, it's pretty predictable and gets boring.
