Do yourself a favor and DON'T WATCH IT
23 June 2020
The only thing that I can stand about this film is the photography, which I really liked at the beginning. The rest is absolutely terrible. The plot is awful, there's no tension at all. We know who the killer is, and we just have to wait and go through a lot of hideous dialogue and horrible acting until he kills enough people to get caught. The kung-fu guy and the detectives are the most pathetic characters I've ever watched in a film, and the others are not different. The sub -plots are also terrible and even unnecessary at some points. This films tries SO hard to be cool that ends up being completely lame. Disgustingly pretentious and bad at so many levels that the only thing it made me feel was anger. AVOID IT.

A difficult one
20 June 2020
This films is shot beautifully, the director definitely knows how to use color and angles. I wish the story was as engaging as the visuals though. As much as I tried, and even after reading the director's comments about the film, I don't get the message behind it, and it's not appealing to me for numerous reason. The character study is interesting, but not enough. It's a good film, just not my kind of film

A film from the 40's made in 78'
2 June 2020
I rather watch "hand held cameras with zoom lenses" cinema, which they criticize so much in this film, than this. The script kept switching from promising to awful, but never landed. Maybe with more convincing acting it could've done better, but overall; it just felt like a mediocre Hitchcock, outdated and dull. It had some fun moments though, and it kept me watching even if it was to see if it could get worse.5,5/10

If you're interested in old Hollywood... just watch an old Hollywood film. This one wanted to revive it but... did quite the opposite.

:/

The opening scene was really good and powerful, so I put my hopes high for this one; by the end of the film I was completely disappointed. It had so much potential but I think it could've been executed way better. The script was really confusing and at some points bland, overall it was just boring. Best part was the photography, beautiful and powerful. Sadly, the story was not at the same level.

Disappointed
13 April 2020
I only liked 2 scenes, the rest was "tolerable " at it's most. It's so overly dramatic that I wanted to vomit through out it's whole 2 hours. This is not the Hitchcock that I love, and I was shocked with such a mediocre and dull film. The script is awful and somehow it glorifies both character's sick attitudes. The morals of the story are so f'd up it's unbelievable. The ending scene is where you can see the potential this film had, but sadly, it was poorly executed and the acting..... nauseous.

Uncut gem.... rather uncut
4 February 2020
The first hour was a mess. Period. That being said, the second hour improves a lot, everything slows down a bit and then we're able to follow the story closer (without everyone talking at the same time and music blasting). I don't think Adam Sandler's performance is that much of a big deal, cinematography and the script are good, and the ending is great. If the first part of the film had the same quality as the second half, I'd give it a 7.5/10.

Don't believe the hype...
29 January 2020
Besides Joaquin Phoenix's amazing performance and great cinematography, I don't really get the hype behind the film. It just shows, but doesn't explain. It's not believable and instead it feels very forced overall. The movie doesn't know its direction and the message behind it gets kind of blurry sometimes. I loved some scenes, but I'm just disappointed at the waste of potential this project had.

Awesome

I read some people saying that this film made no sense, and that it's just a orchestra rehearsal; it hurst how wrong they are. As any other Fellini, you have to scratch the surface, and you will find a great meaning. That's what I love about his films, they make you think! If you think nothing happened in this movie, go watch a Transformers film, you'll probably thing that there's a lot going on while there's nothing at all. While it may lack Fellini's characteristic powerful visuals, it has a very powerful meaning about politics, society and life. Awesome movie, and great for it's lenght

Unpolished masterpiece
26 December 2019
Yes, it has some not so good scenes, bad lightning and it´s far from Passolini's beautiful aesthetic, but still, this movie is a masterpiece for what it represents. A brilliant start for a genius career, powerful and great story, and Pasolini's essence all over.

Genius
22 November 2019
As opposed to some people, I found this film very fun to watch. It just has three overly long scenes: The guy practicing ping-pong, the old man talking on the phone and the man bleeding. All other scenes are entertaining to watch due to various reasons, such as good dialogue and beautiful imagery. Even though the scenes are unrelated, you can tell that there's a sense of unity, and the end connects it in a genius way with splendid shots. This was my favorite from the director's glaciation trilogy, and I can't wait to watch more films by him.

meh
21 November 2019
Scenery is good, has some great scenes and shots, but characters and story are not believable at all. The movie gets very repetitive, and those 2 hours 20 minutes at some point get rather hard to watch. We can't deny that this film is the start of a master Visconti, but compared to his other jobs this film is just meh

Very interesting
16 November 2019
This is the first film of this type that I've seen, and I have mixed emotions about it. I have to say that this film is very tedious to watch, and you have to be open minded, and not expecting nothing normal. Watching it from the surface is easy to say it has no sense or narrative at all, but if you pay some attention you'll be able to at least figure out the relation between scenes and basic concepts, such as love, death and fear. This is a very abstract film and I don't think I got all the hidden messages, but the ones I interpreted, left me with a rewarding feeling. If you're looking for something different and unique in film, this is something you'll find interesting, but be patient though, because the movie is slow

Great

I think the narrative and the script in this film are flawless. It's very unique, and to achieve that, there has to be some skills and knowledge behind. All three stories are great, and the way they connect it's awesome.I enjoyed it a lot and never got bored through all the film. Great!!

Beautiful movie
30 October 2019
I had been looking for this movie during months, and thanks to Filmin I finally got to see it. I have to say I was not disappointed at all. I watched his previous works and enjoyed them a lot, so I expected the same for this one. Beautiful scenes and the narrative, sometimes kind of abstract, make a great story, full of an emotion of melancholy and warmness at the same time. It's not a pretentious movie at all, it feels very genuine and humble. Pietro Marcello has a great potential as a director, that he can keep exploiting even more

I've been watching a lot of Kieslowski films lately, and I've liked all of them, but I have to say: this one was a little bit of a disappointment.

As any other Kieslowski, it has stunning imagery, that can't even be described with words, but this time, it doesn't fill all the holes. The story is not half as strong as his last films, and it goes beyond subliminal and criptic. The story switches to a complete different one from the one we were getting, and makes the first half hour of the movie almost useless. Props to the score and imagery, but yet again, it´s not enough to say it's a solid film

Nice

Very enjoyable movie if you´re a Joy Division fan like me, it shows some interesting details about the band and some scenes just give you a good sensation.

Now, talking about cinematographic value, I think this film doesn´t stand out among other rock and roll biographic films. I feel like the director could have known better where to cut or to keep filming a scene. The sentimental scenes could have been a little bit more powerful, and generally, the film had the potential to be more than it is. All things we see are superficial and I would have loved to see a more deep perspective about Ian mental problems, but it´s not bad as it is and I enjoyed it while watching it
