Wonka (2023)
Missing magic
There's a lot to like in Wonka, the lead Timothy Chalamet is perfect and a fabulous lead and a great voice for the original songs written for the film.
But for the running time I wanted a better story than we was given, mediocre characters and unmemorable performances other than the lead does not a great film make, everyone does their best but the writing is very weak and sadly the modern use of cartel and violence in the film felt out of place & unnecessary.
As a prequel to Willy Wonka this falls short, though it has it's charm with luscious sets and colours but sadly I found it disappointing.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Two Tribes
So WW84 hit the shelves in physical media form today & I really hope that the cinema chains that were in areas of tier 3 and nationally get to return screen WW84 when cinemas re open as I don't understand the such low opinions on this film.
Yet again Patty Jenkins has done an amazing achievement in the return of Wonder Woman to the big screen.
The writing is fresher and there's a real air of feminism which any woman can relate to how they might be treated and often are treated.
It was such a joy to see Chris Pine again and the chemistry from the first is still there.
Kristen Wiig is superb & Pedro Pascal really gets to flex his hamming it up skills and plays his Trump card.
There's scenes in WW84 that are so exquisite and beautifully done I just wished I had seen this on IMAX screen.
And Gal Gadot the camera loves her and she brings to life Wonder Woman again and is an absolute pleasure to watch.
I think I prefer this to the 1st film and the scoring is immense.
Thanks to everyone involved and it's a Shame that covid ruined the release of WW84 buy it hasn't ruined the film that everyone worked so hard to bring to the screen.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Drenched in colour & plays like a noir thriller
Just when you thought you had seen it all, John Wick 3 takes it all and reinvents the action film, not only in its action sequences but such stylised direction, cinematography, stunt work set design, taking influences from recent MA films and classic Hong Kong cinema, there is a sequence straight from the South Korean film The Villainess which is truly ground breaking and jaw dropping in itself,so if film makers are going to take from a film take from the best and make it your own which is what they did here, JW3 is going to set the bar high for action films for a long time to come, the film makers have crafted a story and world that feels so real and authentic that it's immersive in its world, there are action scenes that I have never seen done before and are jaw dropping and a visual treat the eyes & its beautifully crafted in every way.
CSI: Miami: Lost Son (2004)
CSI Down
Season 2 ended on a high note with the cast walking on a beach at the end of the final episode & if your a fan of the series & i am revisiting the CSI series franchise.
So Lost Son involves a child's kidnapping and a diamond deal gone south, I've grown to like and admire the way the CSI Miami team work and the characters all have their quirks & ive noticed in some episodes,Speedles character seems at odds with his work & his role and some of his lines seem to reinforce this but I still liked him as he seems a decent guy struggling with his job and what they face, so in this episode losing speedle to a gun malfunction was hard and the writing and cast gave credit to Rory Cochranes character, the funeral was shown and given full police honours for one of their fallen, the closing scene was handled well and emotional for the actors and viewers.
Season 3 looks like it's going to be a tough one
