Not good.
15 October 2023
Bad accents, unnatural dialog and more cuts than you'll know what to do with! Is it a cop show? Is it a horror flick? Nobody knows, so just sit back and enjoy a fine piece of mediocre media. How does this have more than a 4? Right now, it's like a 6.2 and I am flabbergasted. I just watched dude sing a demon to sleep. Wtf is that all about? It's like what someone from the PNW thinks NYC people are like. And all the useless parallels they make...ugh!

This is like if lifetime network had a late-night movie. Everything just feels "made for TV". Only on TV will you see a detective get into a combat style knife fight with a suspect. The resolution or clarity, whatever you want to call it, is all wring for the vibe the filmmaker was trying to go for. There's pain in grain and this was way too crisp. Like most modern film, everything is shot close. Tight 2s at max. Even establishing shots, right up in there.

Easily an 8.7
30 January 2023
Pretty good writing, great characters, wonderful banter. This isn't the normal Stallone flick you've seen in the past decade, this is very entertaining. I was very apprehensive about watching this, but mom talked me into it. I'm very glad she did. You still see some classic Stallone tropes, but nothing that takes you out of the show.

If you like rag tag teams with heart and banter, give this a shot.my only complaint is that the show isn't long enough. I'd love more episodes in the season. Tulsa kimg has the legs to go for multiple seasons. The characters back story is pretty open ended, so there's many directions you could take this show.

Not a show for casuals
23 August 2022
Not trying to gatekeep in any way, but there's a lot of subtle poetry to this show. Parts that are "slow" have a lot of depth and meaning. This show is also all inclusive without being up its own butt about it. Much like the real world, there's a wonderful blend of characters that don't talk about how they're all different from one another. That alone is a breath of fresh air, in my opinion. The casting and the wardrobe, I feel, is this shows strongest attribute. If you like shows like GOT and Stranger things, there's a good chance you'll like this show as well.

This is a 8.7 in my book.

I give up

After 20 years, I think it's safe to say that they'll never get it right. Just a let down all around. Zombies don't look great, A LOT of needles B roll, really bad pacing, and just not a lot to enjoy. They tried to combine RE1 and 2 games into one movie. When trying to put 10 pounds of supplies in a 5 pound bag, it's best to not add a bunch of useless crap. I truly believe that nobody will ever make a RE film that lives up to the original games.

Batman but in the real world
19 April 2022
This is probably the most relatable batman yet. No over the top gadgets, no over the top vehicles, no over the top action. If batman was a real person, this is a very close representation of who he would be.

This isn't your regular beat'em-up batman. This is a detective, almost an action noir batman. If you could appreciate the Joker movie for what it was, then you'll probably like this film as well. It's good to see DC going in this direction. This is their sweet spot. Marvel couldn't make a movie in this vein.

Don't believe the hype, don't believe the hate, just watch it and form your own opinion. Personally, this might be my favorite batman yet.

Not sure why the low ratings

Just kidding, I know why. Wannabe film critics. 15 years later and this film still hits the spot on the creepy meter. There's tension, shocks, atmosphere and so on. If you've never seen it and you like original plots, I recommend this film.

Better than you expect from some of the reviews

Have an open mind. Enjoy the buddy cop movie. It has some solid laughs. Ryan and Jeff have great on screen chemistry. I personally would have liked a sequel.

Not a good installment
11 October 2021
I don't blame the director. I don't blame the writer. It definitely took a team effort to mess this up. So far the conjuring universe has been driven by Valak and whatever (whoever) the hell Annabel is. This film doesn't seem to fit. This film seems more like a dollar store knockoff of The Conjuring. The Summoning would be a more apropos title.

It's terrible and you must watch it!
10 October 2021
Like all great 80s horror movies, you can't tell if the budget was 4 million or 4 thousand. This movie has everything: slimy hand puppets, awful acting, extra little little people and cutting edge special effects. Look, watch this film KNOWING it's awful and enjoy making fun of it. As far as 80s horror goes, this is up there with killer clowns from outer space and Critters.

Not awful
9 October 2021
Not a terrible movie, to be honest. Had some lame 1-liners and isn't as action packed as other marvel movies, but it's not really like other marvel flicks. Kind of a stand alone type film. Definitely different. It's watchable if you can see it for what it is. I honestly would watch a sequel if they put it out, but I think the marvel contract is up with 20th century fox, so there likely won't be.

Give it a chance and don't listen to the "x-men purists."

How far they've fallen
8 October 2021
Hill house was next level. Bly manner missed the mark. This not only missed the mark, it missed the entire board. It's not a BAD series, it's just so far from Hill House in every way. I get it, not every series they create will be Hill House, but stop trading on the Hill House name if the show will be nothing like it. Where some say the pace is "methodical", I say it's just slow. And the monologs... sheesh!

Worth a shot, but don't expect too much.

I can see why it was canceled...

Really cool show. Great premise. Good-ish characters. Good acting. I feel like the show was trying to do too much in the first season. This type of show needs an architect to build the world, a conductor to match the flow of character development and a prophet to know where its all going. Sadly, it doesn't seem like these 3 units were on the same page. For anyone who enjoys deep scify shows like that could see it wasn't happening. I really hope a streaming service picks this show up and tweaks it. The first season is definitely worth a watch.

I RARELY give shows a 10, but...
20 September 2021
This show delivers every episode. It finds a nice balance between coming of age and comedy. No small parts in this show. When a "background character" gives a line, it lands.

I don't know how accurate this show is pertaining to rez life, but it's definitely crazy to see a place in America seem almost foreign.

Another marvel show, same story
23 June 2021
Like all other marvel shows, it is run poorly. The acting is good, and the cinematography is good, but it lacks everywhere else. Slow story, spotty character development/arc, poor directing just to name a few.

One thing I've noticed about Netflix Marvel shows is that you get network quality action. This show is centered around Kung-fu, so you'd expect a lot of great fighting scenes. Instead, we get a 2 min fight with 135 cuts, close ups and shakey camera work to simulate intensity.

It's sad that the show runners let this one flop. The first season is great. Plays out like a comic/video game. Seeing bad guys and their different fighting styles. Season 2...not so much.

Episodic platform is great for a comic based show, I just wish folks at marvel would get the formula figured out.

Taskmaster (2018)

I hate to say it...
21 October 2020
It pains me to see an American version of such a fantastic British show. Same could be said with Top Gear America. Much like every other brit show made for the states, it lacks everything that makes the original great, Little Alex Horn being the exception.

Reggie is a good dude, but he's a poor taskmaster. He has not the reputation needed to be the TM. Greg Davies seems like the kind of dude that would politely bounce your head off the ground, which makes him the TM.

The panelists are dismal and is such a poor representation of what America has to offer for comics. Aisling played the feminist role and did it with hilarious quips. Don't expect that from these brauds. Then you got Lisa Lampanelli telling everyone to suck her dick, cause I guess that's funny?

I really hate to see another great show . I hate it even more that it's Alex Horn's show. Dude is a comedic genius, in my opinion, and I want him to continue bringing great shows to the world.

Enter the Sandlerverse
11 October 2020
This is a fun movie that's character driven. Lots of Happy Madison call backs. If you like the Happy Madison films, you'll like this. Lots of jokes and bits by lots of well known comedians and comedic actors. Honestly, this thing will win a Razzie before an Oscar, but that's what Sandler makes. Plus, Shaq; the greatest comedic actor that's neither a comedian or actor.

Never listen to 1s and 10s
24 July 2020
This film is in the same vein as the Austin Powers films. It's campy, it's fun, it doesn't take itself seriously. If you're looking at reviews to see if you'd like the film, just know that if you liked any of Meyers previous films, you'll probably like this. It doesn't deserve a fraction of hate it's getting from the wannabe critics and edge lords.

That's a "high" 7
25 June 2020
A highlight video popped up on YouTube and I had just smoked. My interest was peaked and I found the full movie on Netflix. I was not disappointed, but was left a little wanting.

The art style is super dope. Really loved it. Definitely some nods to the ground breaking animes from the 90s. A shot remake i noticed was when the cell door crushed the guard. Definitely an homage to Akira.

I do wish that we got some more back story. This is definitely a character driven story, but we don't learn much about the others. That's honestly my only gripe with the film and why it's a 7 and not a 9.

If you like different, you'll like this. In my opinion, it's a fresh take in a time when everything is pulled from the idea rolladex.
