Solar Opposites: Terry and Korvo Steal a Bear (2020)
This could be the best animated television show episode of all time
Just wow. This episode blew my mind. That has to be the most well thought out, well paced, suspenseful, emotional roller coaster I have ever been on watching an animated episode of a show. This show is proving to be fantastic and should be seen as a huge success if only for this episode.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
This is not what die hard game of thrones fans waited all this time for
To the casual fan, this episode had everything. Action, drama, fighting, death, climax, and an "iconic" moment for one of the shows most likeable characters. However, that's exactly what this episode was: a poorly thought out homage to the casual fan...
Game of thrones has been mine, and so many others' favorite show for nearly a decade now. The depth and attention to detail is what made this show what it was, and as of last season that has clearly gone out the window. Plot lines, time frames, everything just does not add up anymore. It's all about pandering to those who truly don't have much insight into the characters and their histories, but are looking for more of a feel good ending. What made the show great was that any character could die at any moment, but they some how managed to make an hour long battle against the dead and not lose a single important character.
Let's ignore the fact that 80% of the fighting was nearly impossible to see because of how dark it was, but none of it made sense. Sending the dothraki in with swords blazing was an awesome imagine. At face value, a great scene. But why would you send a small chunk of your army off alone into darkness to be slaughtered and potentially resurrected? Why is Sam somehow racking up bodies like a professional call of duty player? How has Jon managed to escape being surrounded by hundreds of wights so many times? It's just cinematic pandering at its finest, and not what game of thrones used to be.
And for the ending... yikes. We get it. Arya is a beloved character that has grown so much since the beginning of the show. She has become everything she dreamed of being and more, but having her somehow manage to slip by thousands of wights, a dozen baby night kings and end debatably the most important plot line for 8 seasons by a jump and a stab is just lazy. It makes no sense, it goes against all of the prophecies, it's just upsetting. I was amazed that they were going to kill of Arya when she charged the night king because I felt there was literally no way that her attack could have gone how it did. Just dumb. I'm so sad that this is how the most important episode of a show that I love played out.
