Decently Entertaining Horror Film
12 April 2021
I found this movie to be solidly enjoyable overall. I wouldn't say that it was groundbreaking compared to the average horror move, but there were a couple of things that make it stand out as a fun and interesting watch.

The first is the mixture of humour alongside the more fearful and suspenseful elements. This is one of the best things about Sam Raimi's movies-- there is often a surprising blend of fun and darkness in the tone.

The second strength of the movie is its focus on the theme of cult mentalities. I liked that it dealt with this topic in a fairly believable fashion that emphasized the human elements of cult dynamics.

Ultimately, I got the sense that the movie wasn't trying to take itself too seriously. It provides a reasonably satisfying story and set of character arcs, with some fun scares along the way. As long as a viewer isn't going into the movie and expecting total seriousness, then the movie should make for pretty entertaining viewing.

Fun and informative

I've been enjoying Dr. Gunter's writing for some time now, and I'm happy to discover that she now has a show. She seems just as educational (and funny!) on-camera as she has been in her written pieces.

A lot of the episode topics about health and wellness are not new in our society, but the ways they get expressed in contemporary culture are more recent (e.g. in social media and the wellness industry). I like the way that the show addresses the modern issues that come along with these classic topics. It keeps things feeling current and relevant to me as a viewer.
