It's neat

This is my second favorite movie of all time (just right behind Robocop of course) Ever since I discovered it through the Internet I've been absolutely obsessed. It's a somewhat simple story told in a complicated alien world. It's a post apocalyptic world where humans are treated as pets by these giant blue aliens called the Draags.

Everything about this film speaks to me. Whether it's the trippy alien planet or the psychedelic soundtrack. The stop motion paper cut out animation is also amazing. It's such a rare style that you never see anymore.

Fantastic planet is a prime example as to why I love Sci-fi. The thing that makes a good sci-fi film is setting up rules and following them. In this film the rules never get broken and when it seems like they do, it's just the nature of this world taking course.

The world is absolutely my favorite part. just when the humans are walking around and you see all the weird alien nature, that's what captivate me. You start comparing things to our world like: "Is that supposed to be an alien plant" or "Is that supposed to be like an alien bug". Even the technology baffles me. I still get mesmerized at the meditation scenes even after watching it like 10 times. I honestly can't find any faults in this film. It is something most people (especially people who aspire to work in animation) should witness.
