Black Sun (2017– )
Finally something different !
29 December 2019
Let me start that as a Serb, I really think the show is of great quility. I've been living several years in the West, and have fallen a bit out of touch what's going on back home when it comes to cinema and TV productions. Boy, was this a pleasent surprise. The TV shows (and majority of movies) we've been fed in maybe past 10-20 years, are to be honest, quite cringy. Shalow story lines with stereotipical characters, aimed probably to same audiance at home. However, at least I want to belive, most of us want something more then stupid dialogs, unbelivable characters and low producation standards. This was the main goal of this prodaction team lead by Bjela, to give our audiance something new, this reneasance of TV shows thats happening in the rest of the world. And I am so glad it finally did happen.

This is a historical crime thriller, set in turbolent times between 2 world wars. The show kept my interest through out, especailly as a history nerd I really liked to see the historical characters and events intertwined with the storyline. Of course, there is a lot of artistic freedom, so if you want it accurate - go watch a documentary. There were ocassions where the dialog or story line seemed a tad unrealistic and through me off, also acting by some of the actors was a bit poor. I give it an 8 because I really hope that this is just the beginning of a new wave of high quility Serbian shows. There is definitly room for improvement, as I really want to belive we can paralel whats going in rest of the world, and that this is just a beginning.

Thank you to the whole producation team for giving me new hope that something really good can come out of this region. Maybe soon we will have Serbian show even with Netflix producation ?!

The Protector (2018–2020)
Something different from Turkey
28 December 2019
I am glad to see something new coming from the world of Turkish cinematography. The show is far from perfect, there are holes in the storyline, and the dialogue seemed sometimes really shallow and unrealistic that it made me chuckle on few ocassions. When it comes to acting, the character of Hakan was quite belivable, and the rest of the cast was quite solid. You can see that the team really wanted to show the beauty of modern day Istanbul with glorius Ottoman history. And this is what makes the show special to western audiance, as this is the world we don't know that much about. All in all, there is definitely room for improvement, however I aplaud the attempt to push outside of the box when it comes to Turkish production.

The Gift (2019–2021)
Binge worthy mystical story

When I came into this show, I wasnt expecting much, as my experiance with Turkish cinema is only through cheesy Turkish soaps. Boy this is so far from it... From episode 1 I got hucked in to the story, and it didnt let go until the end. Really good job! Usually stories coming from Turkey are depicting traditional, conservative parts of society and struggles that come with them. Here, we have a strong, modern woman going on a mistical jorney to place in history that not many know off. Also, its really good tourist marketing campagne for Göbekli Tepe and Nemrut.
