When They See Us (2019)
One of the best shows on Netflix so far
Okay let me explain why I just gave it 8/10, but first the positive things about this show. The cinematography is amazing and the acting is fantastic. All 5 actors young or adult, made a great job. This show has some heartbreaking scenes. In the last episode all these Prison scenes are really sad and told a story...a real story....What I mean with real story is, that many shows suck at doing scenes, about real stories, realistic. This show doesn't.
The first episode was truly great and maybe my favorite episode in this show. It was the most intense at least. Every single scene was great. From the beginning to the end. When the kids were in those cop cars and we see Flashbacks before everything happened...it was just amazing.
The second episode has the best ending in this season imo. It also has the best cinematography and acting too. The next two episodes went to a more slower direction. You can like it, but you can felt bored like me. Episode 3 and 4 were the most boring episodes, but they both also had heartbreaking scenes...
Well um...now let's start with the problems. I don't have any real problems with episode 1. Every scene was perfectly paced. No scene was too long or too short. Every scene had it's purpose. The first episode does it job perfectly. Now...the second episode. Okay to this people who gave this show a 1/10, because of this Trump bashing and all that...Seriously? I mean yeah I agree these scenes were too long. It was 10 min. of unnecessary Trump bashing. Does it effect the storyline? No! It doesn't! You could told us this Trump stuff like one time in a minute or something, but it felt just forced to give this message. Now the most exciting part of this show for me was, when these law stuff happens. This was the reason I wanted to watch the show. So...they didn't go into much detail, even tho it's a show with episodes. We just could saw one kid talking for an example and everything felt rushed. They could have made two episodes out of it and going more into detail. Now this episode also had some pacing problems. Some scenes are unnecessary or too long or too short. Something just wasn't on the lvl as the first episode. The Ending tho was just amazing, probably the best in the show. Episode 3: This episode took his time thankfully. All those scenes in this Mexican house thing (Sry my english haha) are perfect, but many scenes were too long. Not many scenes were actually unnecessary, but they were all too long, well at least some of them. It was a good episode, but it was just an normal episode. It did his purpose. Cinematography again great. Acting again great. I don't really want to complain about this episode.
(Music...I really really liked the music, but there were too many scenes with music in the background in this show. FAR too many. It got a bit annoying at one point.)
Episode 4: The first 15 min. are amazing!!! Just truly amazing! Actually this whole episode showed really really realistic how it's going on in prison. It was hard to watch and powerful acting again. But...c'mon...so many scenes again! Too long! In the middle of this episode I was just...where is the point now? This transgender brother, which died. RIP. But this whole scene was also too long (including this face thing on the wall). Wanting to give a message that transgender people are also people or whatever. I get it...but same thing with the Trump s**t. It was too long, boring and we got the point. 9/11...also a scene which was unnecessary. Many scenes in this episode felt unnecessary. Can we give credit to this police guy tho? He was great, also the acting and dialogues! Powerful! So...well...than finally this pay-off scene happened and yeah I was happy. The last 20 min. are great again.
So People who are giving this show a 1/10...this show deserves much better ratings. Also this people who are giving this show a 10/10...why? It was far from perfect. I mean you can have a opinion and I respect it, but it's never ever on the same level as Breaking Bad imo. Two totally different shows, but I just want to remember that not every GOOD show is automatically a 10/10.
So that was my review. People will disagree and I'm totally fine with it. It's a good show, with some flaws, unnecessary flaws. I recommend it everyone who loves like these law stories and all that.
When They See Us: Part Two (2019)
Oh Hell no
Well it's nearly a perfect episode. Acting is a 20/10! I actually hate kids in movies, but this time they're the highlights. I nearly cried at one part, because of the acting. The cinematography was as good as in the first episode...maybe even better.
Why just 8 stars tho? Well I didn't like this Trump bashing and sometimes the episode felt to rushed. Sometimes I asked myself...maybe do 2 episodes out of it and go into more detail. I didn't really like one character...I mean the show told us first to like her and at the end she was an a***ole too! It just happened out of nowhere and many scenes felt too long or too short. Pacing wasn't as good as in the pilot. But maybe I'm too harsh on the show, because this episode was truly great.
Thanks for doing this show Netflix...but stop this Trump stuff....please.
When They See Us: Part One (2019)
One of the best Pilots I have ever seen
WOW!!! This Episode did his job perfectly. Amazing acting, fantastic cinematography, great dialogues etc.. I was truly angry after this episode. I know after this episode...this show is something special. It does so much right. Life tells the best stories, but also the worst...
Well it's not a Mindblowing Episode though. It didn't shock me as much as Fargo the first episode for an example, but damn...not many shows do have such a great start. Definitely give this show I try, if you like law stories. It won't disappoint you.
