Excellent Series
11 October 2023
I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. This series kept me on the edge of my seat because I could not figure out who actually killed Karine, the character in the first and second series that we never really had a chance to know. What I did get to learn, was the despicable family she came from; the greed, the power, the uncaring father and grandparents who all pretend as is they have a perfect life of wealth and social standing. Far from it in every way. The main character, Aksel, is a man who was falsely accused of killing her and acquitted. He returns home only to watch his and his family's life unravel once again. The man cannot catch a break. The drama was gut-wrenching as the viewers witnessed him try to prove himself innocent over and over. Not a show for people who want light and breezy in a series. The show gets a 9 rating for the script and acting. The last star is for the magnificent aerial shots of the mountains and fjords that are joined in one continuous frame. Simply wonderful on every level.

Wonderful Movie for the Halloween Autumn Season
27 September 2023
The cinematography was incredibly atmospheric, with a dark, creepy beauty. The cast of characters were all in top form especially Michelle Yeoh and Kenneth Branagh as Poirot. The set scene of the water-logged, decaying Venice mansion was a perfect backdrop for mayhem. Death, destruction and deception all loomed large throughout the film with each character a possible murderer; no one was innocent. I didn't give it ten stars as the loud abrupt noises throughout the film were unnecessary as it lead to nothing sinister. Overall, the pacing was good, the plot intriguing and it was a fantastic way to start the fall season.

Hilarious!

This German film had me rolling with laughter. It's a complete black comedy with tons of visual cues (if you pay strict attention) that only add to its sick humor. The tattoo artist and childhood crush was one of my favorite characters. I will say it's not for everyone if you are looking for a family friendly story. But, If you enjoy foreign films, a good laugh and don't mind reading subtitles, you might want to consider watching.

Great Show!
30 June 2022
Loved this Irish series. Kept me invested in each and every character through marvelous acting and storyline. I particularly loved the female boss of Colette who through nuanced acting was compassionate but wanted to do things by the book. That was a refreshing take on the over-burdened, loud, reactive supervisor that has become an old trope in most police procedurals. Kudos to a job well done to everyone involved in the making of this series. Hope to see a second one soon.

Above Average Mystery
2 May 2022
At the very beginning of the episode I was skeptical of the storyline going into a Jason Bourne scenario with a main character I didn't find appealing mainly because she seemed so hot-headed. Fortunately, the show quickly progressed where the main character takes a holiday in stunning Italy to visit her niece who is about to be married. Emilia Fox's attitude softens as she visits her family but she senses something isn't quite right with the soon-to-be-groom. At this point the show became an interesting mystery. The scenery and location is spectacular, however, the peach colored diffused natural light is outdated and unnecessary (think Under the Tuscan Sun). I say give it a try to see if it's your cup of espresso.

Trying Desperately To Like It
24 April 2022
I'm on S.1, Ep.3 knowing that I can't even watch the final episode. The actors did a fine job in their respective roles, however, my main issue is the way the characters were written. What woman who is a certain age who wants to get pregnant would agree to converting her home into a safe house because her husband thinks it's a good idea? Hey, let's put our lives in danger! The rest of the characters save the little boy, Joe, are either obnoxious, downright stupid, or disturbingly angry at the world. Why would writers portray characters who have no redeeming qualities? The actors were paid but I wonder if they are embarrassed that they signed up for this limited series.

A Gem!
11 April 2022
Jane Seymour is wonderful in this comedy as Harry Wild, a recently retired English professor. Harry is not some old stodgy retiree but a vibrant, sassy and often hilarious amateur sleuth who can't help but correct improper grammar even when dangerous situations. This series delivers it all; comedy, mystery, heart in a well-acted and filmed package.

On The Fence

I've only finished watching the second episode and although I love the fresh approach to the show, witches vs vampires vs demons and finding their origin, the female lead's poor American accent coupled with the awful vocal fry is horribly annoying. Just to add insult to injury, the character is supposedly a scholar yet portrayed as an infatuated prepubescent. Don't get me wrong, Teresa Palmer is both stunningly beautiful and a fine actor, but just not for this role. Perhaps someone more formidable like Carey Mulligan or an American, like Scarlet Johansson. This show really is 10/10 stars in content, cinematography, and has some fantastic actors. I'll try another episode with hope that Dr. Diana Bishop will act like an adult, get some courage and speak without the creaky voice.

Wonderful Actors

I love Cush Jumbo in this series. The rest of the cast is brilliant as well each playing all completely shattered people in their own way. Although the final episode was good I wished the ending could have been more intense.

A Series That Finds It's Heart
10 January 2022
The first episode just introduces the characters of a rundown vineyard and it's new owners. As the series progresses it begins to show how the two main characters, Daisy and Louis, begin new friendships with people who are strikingly different than themselves. Gone are their days of pretenses and privilege, now they must finally "grow up" and along the way find out what really matters in life. If your looking for a fun little show with heart set in beautiful rural New Zealand this is it.

Excruciatingly Slow
30 October 2021
Do you like the colors turquoise, rust and gold? Because if you do, this show is for you. In *virtually* every scene this color palette dominates. Why? Was it to appear chic? Sophisticated? If the director had paid more attention to the pacing of the story perhaps I wouldn't have been so bored or so bothered by this annoying detail. Four stars for the actual mystery, zero stars for the melodramatic music.

Picturesque Cute Mystery
30 October 2021
I gave it 8 stars for the cinematography, the beautiful homes with lush green gardens and the quirky storyline. Characters had a few predictable cliches e.g. The dissatisfied husband, the new age BFF with a heart of gold. I also enjoyed hearing the Polish language spoken as I have never heard it before. A good movie for a Sunday afternoon.

Kept Me Guessing
3 October 2021
So many characters could have been the main suspect that just when I thought I was right about someone, I was wrong. The series was creepy, dark, annoying, and completely kept me binging episode after episode. The parting scene at the very end was NOT what I expected. Give it a try if you don't mind subtitles.

Unlikeable Main Character
24 September 2021
I love Keeley Hawes as an actor but good gravy, what a terrible role this is to play! A middle-aged woman who appears to be stuck in the 1950's; her man is her world, she has no clue on her long-term partner's finances, no clue on how to operate a "smart home", apparently no job to speak of, a totally dependent damsel in distress. Worse yet, she parentifies her teenage daughter, is rude to the police and all who are trying to help her. I'm sorry I spent my time watching 1.5 episodes on this nasty train-wreck of a show. So disappointed.

Good Actors
18 September 2021
The story moved a little slow but picked up the pace as it went on. Some Hallmark actors can be very wooden but the cast here was excellent. I really enjoyed how it left the ending for a sequel, in fact, I hope Hallmark approves a second movie. Filming in Hudson Valley NY was a nice change from the Vancouver area where most Hallmark movies are filmed.

The hanging tree shown outside Grey House is lush with green leaves at the very introduction to the episode. However, just before the scene where Cassie and Sam are in the meditation room, the tree is shown stripped of leaves.

Another Great Episode for Season 8
12 June 2021
Black Ice really appealed to me for the sheer fact that I couldn't figure out if the deceased was actually a good person or a manipulative liar. This episode was full of twists that made it engrossing to watch from beginning to end. Brenda Blethyn and the phenomenal cast always deliver their talent at 100 percent.

Heartwrenching Portrayal
2 June 2020
This show is not for everyone. It's depressing, it's frustrating and it's absolutely a crystal clear portrayal of a young man, a twin, who starts his life in a typical way when schizophrenia emerges in his early twenties. What follows is the impact it has on his family and the devastating effect on the life of his identical twin brother. The trauma doesn't stop there, though. Many losses are covered over the years that may leave the viewer saddened and sickened. The real gem in all this is the acting. It's believable and superb. Mark Ruffalo deserves an Emmy for not only doing double-duty, but for the true talent that he is. Rosie O'Donnell deserves an Emmy for Supporting Actor. Her role is pivotal and brings some respite to the viewers. I personally love that NAMI (National Association for the a Mentally Ill) is mentioned in the end credits. Schizophrenia is real. It's impact on families, friends and the community is real. If this miniseries does anything at all for viewers it's make families aware of the signs and symptoms and to seek help early.

Complex Mystery, On The Edge Of My Seat
1 June 2020
First of all, I'm so happy I didn't rely on the reviews here. Most people who posted here, absolutely disliked the show, pointing out holes in the storyline amongst other flaws. If you watch CAREFULLY, you will have all your answers at the end. This is an intricate story with many different characters and subplots that moves at a breakneck speed. I binged watched all 8 episodes because it reeled me in so thoroughly, I had to get to the final episode to have my curiosity satisfied. With that said, the ending left me realizing how shallow the reason was that set all this treachery in motion. If anyone has any questions or feels that the show has holes in it, I suggest they go back and review the scenes. This is an excellent show if you love a very complex mystery that moves rapidly. The actors did an amazing job making it all seem believable. I highly recommend watching.

Continuity is way off with the character's clothing and time. Characters are seen wearing certain clothing at the beginning of the show. The next morning they are wearing different clothes, but as the hours pass, they are all dressed in the previous days clothes.
