The Sandman (2022)
The Sandman is a visual adaption of a fictional world created by a comic book author. Don't forget this important fact.
Politics have no place here. This is not "wokeness".
Comics are what they are because freedom exists. Anything can be anything. There are no rules! Everything is possible, so everything can exist and should be allowed to exist within the confines of fictional worlds. Even psychological horror is allowed to exist, but "wokeness" that has nothing to do with wokeness is off putting.....?
Why do you care what people look like anyway, if it's not "shoved" into your faces, which it isn't. What turns you off about a few seconds of two men or two women showing affection?
Did you know the John Constantine from the comics, who is the father of Joanne Constantine in the show, is bisexual? He had all kinds of affairs with different beings, yes, not only humans. But what does it matter to YOU? In case it offends you, please, just leave and ignore it entirely...
At the time of writing this review I'm at episode five, but so far I am actually liking what I'm seeing, because most of the actors do a very good job in my own, humble opinion. The skin color of the actors is irrelevant, since they do their job well. Another reviewer stated, The Endless can be whoever or whatever they want. We even see Lord Morpheus - The Sandman turn into a cat for a brief moment. Both Lucifer and Death as women does make sense to me, if you understand who these characters represent. Although to be fair, Lucifer was already perfect in his own TV show.
Do you perhaps remember "Black Widow"? (not the movie, the actress) Wasn't she beloved by pretty much everyone? These female characters are not too different from her. Think about it: A Black Widow, Death, Lucifer ~ Pretty similar, right?
I do agree that there are many women, and while I'm a man I still think they have a place in the show. They fill out their roles nicely and don't "overpower" the presence of male actors...
So what more do you want other than stunning visuals, competent actors, a music score which instead of distract accompanies the plot in a timely manner and a story faithful to the original?
After all, the author of the comics was involved in the making of this series. Is it right, in your eyes, to call an adaption of which the author took part in the producer team unfaithful? He approves, so I do too. TV productions are always different from the books, never a perfect representation.
(Amazon's TV show Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power instead is not faithful to the original in many ways. Disney's TV show She-Hulk is an example for actual modern day wokeness. And of course another Netflix show titled Resident Evil, which is indeed an unfaithful adaption that has wokeness I suppose... But seriously, there still is "good" in this world!)
Made in Abyss (2017)
Rather well known and yet still so underrated
Made in Abyss is an experience you can't explain with words alone. While watching this show you will see one of the most fantastical fantasy worlds imaginable come to live. The visuals are simply incredible, characters are well thought out, and the music... You will listen to the most beautiful pieces ever. Unfortunately, the other reviewers are right in that Made in Abyss is not meant for kids. In fact, it is one of the saddest shows I know. Made in Abyss is a 10/10 and masterpiece no question.
If anyone is interested in a similar series I recommend you try out To Your Eternity, a story about an immortal being living through the times and meeting all kinds of people and creatures. The tone is similarly dark, the plot, however, sadder than that of Made in Abyss.
Brimstone (2016)
Unbelievable!
The ONLY bad thing about this movie are the reviews and ratings from the dumbest, most antagonizing people ever! You are pathetic!
And even though I know my offensive talking will not shake the earth I hope that some people will understand the emotions that went into writing this comment for one of the most stunning movies ever. This movie tops the vibe I got from Casualties of War, the in my opinion best anti-war movie ever. If the movie really is realistic I am not sure, but you shouldn't forget one of it's genres is mystery.
The Protector (2018)
It's really good...
...except the story, it's pretty terrible.
With everything else is good I mean the actors, the music, the acting, the action, ...
I read season 2 is very bad. I will have to see about that.
And the whole magical stuff isn't explained at all, that is unfortunate.
The Gifted (2017)
No comparison to...
Heroes. The only (not-) superhero show I really enjoyed watching was Heroes. Not this failed attempt of copying Heroes and not No Ordinary Family! I stopped watching both of these after, I dont know, 13 episodes...
Tau (2018)
It's something different, not particularly better, accept that
I watched this movie a while ago and now I come back to finally write a review. I remember some of it pretty good...
So, what do we have here? TAU is like a couple other movies and series on Netflix special and somewhat unique.
The thing with this movie is that almost the whole 97 minutes are played in one house. A house where part of it is a labor and which is monitored by an AI (artificial intelligence). What I want to point out is there aren't many characters and the characters that are shown don't have much of a personality except the 3 main characters: a girl, a mad young scientist (sadistic genius), the AI with the name TAU.
Netflix calls this house hightech-prison and the girl has to escape it. In order to do that she has to outsmart a very intelligent and dangerous AI + the scientist that kidnapped her randomly.
The most important part of the story begins when the girl meets the AI and I mean that's where the movie is based on anyway, so it didn't fail there.
The end is so surprising, but in a good, incredible way and it feels relieving.
The movie is definetly fsk 16, I would say.
Errementari (2017)
I am pretty amazed
Just think about it, after watching it... This movie deserves more than a 6.4 star rating!
I am german and even though the dubbed german does not always work very well it doesn't mean I should rate this movie less good.
I do really like how it ended and how it turned out overall. It's like an archaic folklore that happend to be written into a fairy tale.
All the characters are well designed and act as they should. Especially the blacksmith, the little girl and the demon, which are the main actors.
This movie isn't by any means perfect, but so much enjoyable, interesting and touching that I want to rate it very good. I find Errementari deserves more attention.
One more important thing: In my opinion captured Errementari the mood and the fears of the people of the past very well.
Konferenz der Tiere (2010)
I blame the reviewers for being heartless!
That's all.
"Sorry, your review is too short."
I don't care.
That's all.
