She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Don't Believe the Haters
I heard a lot of noise about how terrible this show is and as a result I put off watching it.
It's fine. In fact, it's fun.
I actually enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed a lot of the other Marvel films lately (how much fighting can one endure, really).
No, it's not true to the comics... Is any marvel film or show? No....
So, enjoy a light-hearted romp with interesting characters. Enjoy a show that has great actors. Enjoy a show that's not the same fight scenes rehashed for the thousandth time.
Others complained that the main character is a pathetic representation of female power? Why must every female character be the sexiest, or most mysterious, or etc etc etc.... I loved that she's just a normal goofball that studied hard to get her degrees, that works hard, that has friends, and is just trying to exist.
Is she a model of female perfection? No. Is she some action-packed hero with a twisted backstory she has to overcome? No. She's just a person I might hang out and I appreciate it. For once it's more fun than tragic. Yes, when she's in hulk form she's tends more to the "ideal" comic book female form, she struggles with how people view her two sides despite them both being her.
There have also been complaints about the representation of her as a sexually active person. She's a character of this time so the dating, drinking, and being a human female stuff didn't seem odd to me until I saw the complaints. I do wonder if the real issue behind it for some of the watchers is that she's a female character that is pursuing rather than being pursued. Some people still get upset and consider women aggressive or bossy if they have agency and that's their issue. She stands up for herself and isn't just someone's love interest. Although the show does revolve a bit around her trying to find a relationship, it's not her main focus, and more of the show is about her law cases and her.
So once again, I say, enjoy.
If you want something dark with tragedy and a desperate attempt to save the world you can skip this one. While I think that the show could have benefited from more money and time spent on it, I still think it's a fun watch.

Modern Adventurer and Culture Celebrator
I happened across this while randomly flipping through channels and was pleasantly surprised. The young characters are curious and excited, as children of that age usually are. Like Dora the Explorer, Wild Kratts, and Nature Cat the characters learn something new in each episode. In this series the young girl teaches basic internet literacy, map reading, and general problem solving, all while learning and celebrating her Native culture. The teaching isn't blatant but is the kind that kids will pick up on and parents will be pleasantly surprised at the understanding of technology and cultural themes their children develop.
I was also surprised that it brought me to tears in one episode that mentions the assimilation campaigns that many Native peoples endured, a hard subject for adults, let alone children. Despite the difficulty of the subject, the writers didn't shy away from it but handled it naturally. I was thrilled to find that finally there is a show about Native children that is respectful, interesting, and shows what people often forget, that Native peoples aren't gone, we've been here the whole time.
