Lindsay's Back
11 January 2010
Didn't expect too much of this flick, and I was quite surprised with what I found.

Of course is not the best romantic comedy ever, it has a lot of cliché situations and silly jokes, but there's a spark between actors, there's chemistry between Cheryl Hines (who is the best in this movie), Bridgit Mendler and Lindsay Lohan turning ridiculous situations into funny moments, the director found a good balance between them, making a nice and really charming movie that if you have some spare time you can check out and it's not just a total waste of time. The bad ratings must be Lohan's haters.

Someone gave Lohan another chance and she took advantage of it, it's not bad as her latest films (considering that her only good flick is Mean Girls, it's not much what I'm saying).

Anyway, I think it was a good idea to go to a more independent thing so people can begin trusting in her again. And for sure you will enjoy.

Disappointing!
1 September 2008
OK, how can I begin with this...

First, I was expecting lots from this movie, now that I'm more used to Argentinian's films. But oh my God... this 80 (sufferable) minutes wasn't on my expectations.

The story & the way it is shot, yes, is beautiful and completely interesting, and some people will say that the slow pace is necessary... Well, I DON'T think so... the slow pace made me wanna leave the theater since the first 30 minutes, (and actually some people at the theater left) I know Martel normally uses this kind of rhythm in her movies, but in a completely different and interesting way!! (as in La Ciénaga & La Niña Santa) and usually (apparently) nothing happens, BUT everything is happening, right there in front of you.

Well, in this one, apparently nothing happens, and actually... NOTHING is happening.

And all that technical things, like using that kind of lenses and that focus, (that's the only way to show what the character is feeling/thinking?? Don't think so!) and cutting the character's head all the time... Well, there is a moment when enough is definitely, enough.

Bored me to the core, HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO FILMS FOR THEMSELVES BUT NOT SO INTERESTING FILMS FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO SEE.

The plot (apparently) was interesting, and (again I repeat) she knows how to shoot and camera movements are beautiful, but come on!! Tell me this story in 40 minutes not in 80!!

And all that lesbian stuff... totally and completely unnecessary.

If you really want to see it (as I did), wait till it crashes video clubs.

What the f*ck have you done lately?
31 August 2008
I was completely expecting only an action movie with Ms. Jolie kicking ass and just went to the movies for watching a summer flick and having a good time... and for my luck, I GOT MORE!! Yes, the plot is predictable at some points, but the twists in it (for me) weren't predictable at all and actually found them really interesting.

Great FX, lots of (NOT unnecessary) action sequences and lots of new entertainment, not a copy of anything, even when everybody says that they copy The Matrix slow motion effects... OK, who doesn't? all action movies use them now, and actually I think they took what The Matriz brought to another level, the story is wit.

James McAvoy's (character and performance) is great, actually all the things that he thinks, the way he acts, I found it actually really deep. Always asking to himself lots of things and the way he portraits this is amazing.

Angelina Jolie beautiful and perfect since she appears on screen till the explosive finale.

Script is perfect and filmed in an exquisite way, camera movements are a delish.

I know it is based on a comic, never read it (definitely, now completely interested) but I supposed that this movie respect it a lot, even some shots are totally as if you were watching a giant comic book on screen, hope fans were satisfied, because I have had a good hell of a ride and actually got me thinking in lots of things, try to look deeper and you will find more than action and you will appreciate it lots more.

Hope Bekmambetov gives more of his visionary and amazing world, soon.

Love it!

Seed of Chucky, just... Charming!
14 August 2008
Come on you have to see this movie as the way it is meant to be seen, a light comedy with one of the most classic serial killers of our times & Co. (or family).

Chucky franchise stop trying to be the horror saga that it was meant to be, and since Bride of Chucky they decided to write comedies with some gore, instead of making a mess like Jason X or Freddy vs. Jason, etc. And made something just plain bad, they made a fun and wit film that all the time is making fun of itself.

Totally a guilty pleasure and a Sunday afternoon movie, but completely enjoyable.

If you see the trailer you will notice all the funny little details that this one has.

The cast is great and story I found it really creative with some interesting twists.

Definitely the funniest dialogues are the discussions of Glen's sexuality between Tiffany and Chucky something really simple but unforgettable.

Having Jennifer Tilly (playing herself and making fun of herself), Brad Dourif and John Waters in one movie... only Chucky (MTV nominee) could have done that.

Just hilarious!! Fun in the most pure way!!

An unforgettable experience.

FIERCE!!

Everything (seriously, EVERYTHING) is just so over the top that maybe for some people is really difficult to swallow...

If you watch the first 10 minutes or even the trailer you are totally into it (or not) I couldn't believe how Verhoeven and Eszterhas were totally conscious of the (trashy) world that they were creating, and yes it's a hilarious ride since the beginning till the end, this one is definitely a movie that you love or you hate.

I laughed, I got angry, I wanted to be there having fun with the characters, I was completely amazed of how much I was enjoying this film and how quickly it got into my heart.

A total sexual fantasy of the writer, a fantasy that's SO bad, that is GOOD.

Few movies can create a world of its own and this one is created in the most delightful way.

Just undergo a ride on this pole, and experience the biggest guilty pleasure ever.

With the surprising performances of Berkley and Gershon, the dialogues between this two females are simply a DELISH, darling!

Verhoeven's greatest!

De Sica's Masterpiece!

Magnificent!!

The excuse of telling the story of a stolen bicycle to discover (and fix) the strange relationship between father and son is portrait in a beautiful way in one of the most exquisite neo-realist films.

Great writing, directing and filming, there's not a lot of things I can say, because it's not worth to read about this movie, definitely you have to watch it so you can really understand what means to watch one of the greatest films of all times.

This movie is worth for lots of things, even only for watching that kid walking "between" his dad.

One of the most heart-touching films ever.

Bad Taste (1987)

Bad taste... definitely.
2 August 2008
Peter Jackson's first movie, didn't expect a lot, but... I would say that this was a good exercise for Jackson and Co., they grabbed a camera and started to have some fun.

On the gore subject would say that some of the murders are still shocking. On the "comedy" section yes it's fun at some point, but definitely you have to be on the mood for watching some stupid jokes and have some laughs, don't expect much the only thing you need to enjoy, is to stop thinking for 90 minutes.

The story is fine but definitely there were (lots of) moments that I felt treated as a guy that really haven't got any brains, with really dull (kind of children) jokes. Definitely this movie has been consider a cult film because of Jackson's new works. For Jackson's fans and people that want to give their brain a (90 minutes) rest.

A blast!
25 July 2008
I enjoyed but didn't like at all the first part of Hostel, this one a lot of people said it was the same than the first one but with girls and it's a valid opinion.

BUT what I think it was interesting about this one is that the script is solid, the plot is so much better, and ladies and gentlemen, money is power so someone can buy you, this is the most interesting part of this flick.

And thank God! THIS IS GORE, not just cutting fake little fingers.

This movie is not trying to be a classic actually it's just a homage to real classics, look for all the cameos.

The performances are great because it's like watching all the lousy actresses from the 70's and 80's getting killed, wonderful! Heather Matarazzo's performance as a geek girl rox! Enjoy...

May you be in heaven...

Lumet did again a great film.

Well, the thing is the beginning is wonderful, and the end, oh my god the end is supreme!! But, the problem that I found was the suspense that this movie works is lost in the middle I loved how... this movie is edited and the technical decisions, but this turns the film kinda boring for several minutes because everything is about repeating, yes when you get new information is really interesting but when they are repeating it and repeating it is kind of uncomfortable to be at your seat.

But even this, the movie is totally enjoyable and interesting, and all performances are exquisite, but definitely Marisa Tomei is really impressive.

This is not only about couture...
13 June 2008
Could this be more sexy and witty?? NO. OK first, this is NOT a loooong episode, this is a movie about the characters, with this clear let me continue... OK at the beginning the movie is slow why? because they decided to do a little introduction meant to the people that never saw the series just for understanding what they are about to see, for not making this a suffer(n) to fans they mix some classic gags that will make them nostalgic, but when everything is clear for everybody you can feel comfortable in your seat and enjoy the hilarious ride with this beautiful and smart 4 woman that still got the most amazing wardrobe and excellent chemistry on screen, yes... even on the big one!! Series fans will be pleased and not fans will see a movie that's worth the entrance and maybe they start to get interested in the series... who knows? Since I saw the preview and poster I knew this would be fabulous and of course... classy.
