History of the World: Part II: IV (2023)
Awful
Particularly awful is the running sketch showing residents of West Virginia capturing and planning to hang Gen Grant and Union soldiers. That is so historically inaccurate, it's the most ridiculous part of the sketch. West Virginia only exists because those counties split from Virginia to remain in the Union. They raised troops to fight with the North against slavery and with Grant's army. Virginia, a secessionist State, refused to respect those counties decision to secede from Virginia and unsuccessfully tried to occupy the region. I get History of the World is a spoof, but completely getting the history back to front is unforgivable.
Foundation (2021)
Another Miss
Finally, I thought. Someone has the right platform and capability to start bringing Asimov's masterful future history of human and robot galactic manifest destiny to life. I was bitterly disappointed that I was wrong again. Where is Asimov's Peter Jackson?
Foundation: Upon Awakening (2021)
Not Foundation
I've loved Asimov's Foundation since I read the first book in 1974. This is NOT Foundation. Despite the high end CGI and visual appeal, I find little of Asimov's compelling history of a galactic empire in decline with the subtle effects of the two Foundations intended to shorten the brutal interregnum before the return of stability. I see ham handed attempts to "update" this story with references to 21st century issues like terrorism and climate change. I'm sorry, but this is not working for me.
