Shōgun: A Dream of a Dream (2024)
Season 1, Episode 10

Beautiful ending, all the feels
23 April 2024
It is pretty clear the feeling that I am left with having watched the last episode. I am so going to miss this show, never been a miniseries like this. It is imprinted on my heart even. I held my breath more than once, many shows would have big epic endings, but this was a teaching, humbling moment just as some episodes have been this season. I did look at the runtime of episode 10 and I had qualms about there not being a big epic ending but I went with it nonetheless. (And I get that some people would feel that something is missing, to be completely frank.) Moreover, it was personally three episodes of emotional gut punches and it outweighed everything else. But every little detail of show has just been incredible, the weight of any action is very much felt with time and in 10 episodes, one can break down every character to their core motivation, fear etc. And at a time when television shows are about meeting quotas, over rushed projects, this was just steady and a breathe of life we all needed. I dreaded when the credits scene was coming, never wanted it to end, could have more in it, but I thought, my word, am I glad to have been a part of this journey.

No Time for Bond Fans
7 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The final outing for Daniel Craig just left me, a fan of Craig's since 2006, so angry and upset. I think being a diehard fan of a movie has induced so much rage in me right now, I wonder if I'm alone but there are so many shining reviews. Just to clarify, not just joining the hate bandwagon but having waited for months to see this, there was the expectation of seeing what one likes to see in a bond movie, it's an escape so I must say, loved the locations, the shooting, aston martin, car gadgets, love it. It is not a bad movie at all but I feel betrayed, as a fan who loves bond movies, I feel betrayed. First the plot, is it just me or do these modern day movies have some crazy plot that you struggle to piece together what kind of logic it hangs on. Why on earth is Bond saying, "Could you please turn around while I put on my tux?" Is he a geek on the Big Bang theory scared to take off his shirt? I never thought i would say the day when Bond goes from "Perhaps you are out of practice" to "could you please turn around?" I didn't mind Lashanna Lynch actually, she and Bond were bouncing lines of each other so it wasn't the "stand down old relic" movie I thought it would be. It still feels like some backlash made the producers rework some scenes. Ana De Armas was great, lovely to look at, breath of fresh air in the movie. Why didn't she come back and we had fan-boy, because apparently we have agent fan boys now, still in the movie. It was so bloody obvious he was off. Then it's Madeleine this, Madeleine that, so it's so soap opera like. The old characters killed off, Bond killed off, Spectre will be the last film for me as far as Craig is concerned. This feels dragged out, and just luckily these producers cannot get their hands on the cool suave bonds from the 60s onwards. I will get rocks thrown at me for being "sensitive" that Bond has been changed. Where does Bond go from here? I have no idea, but going by this, he won't be the bond all the fans knew. By the way, he dies in a bond film called No time to die. Salut commander Bond, they got the old relic they wanted to take away.

Movie about bunch of people on a cycling trip, has its moments
5 May 2020
This is a Czech movie with a bunch of young people, all with their issues, going on a cycling trip, willingly or not.Makes for a somewhat good comedy right from the start of the movie as they go on the trip, it has its moments. I recommend the movie, not like a classic laugh all the way movie but good for a laugh and a relaxing evening.

Great effects but Makes you feel nothing, banks on nostalgia to drain your pockets, avoid
19 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Was the point of the film just to milk money from the nostalgic 1994 fans or what? the 1994 film is a classic but why, because even the villain can make you laugh at times. The jokes are amusing at best, forgettable and it seems that even though they were trying to go their own way with this, they could have brainstormed a bit more surely and come up with better jokes. I mean the lines were so flat, so incredibly flat that you would wonder what happened. What happened to Scar? He was a humorous villain and now he is just another forgettable villain. Disappointing really. Credit to the graphics team, that's pretty much it.
