Last of the Summer Wine: Barry's Christmas (1990)
Barry's Christmas
A vast improvement over last years Christmas special with Wesley's self brought Christmas present of a hearse being used to take Barry home after he spent a drunken night in the pub causing strange looks from Howard and Marina and causing another motorist to crash his car into road works.
Foggy later has a brilliant idea of taking Barry home on horse back until his own self brought Christmas present a bleeper frightens the horse causing it to bolt with him on the back.
There is a brilliant scene of Foggy boring a bus passenger with his war stories the passenger tries to escape by getting of the bus only for Foggy to come with him.
Last of the Summer Wine: What's Santa Brought for Nora Then? (1989)
drags on a bit
This is not a patch on "crums" as it drags on it would have been better if this episode had been cut down to about 30 minutes as certain scenes are dragged out
there are some good moments though such as Compo in the upmarket department store trying to find a Christmas present for Nora for £2 ! Upsetting the snooty sales assistants and the security staff and Howard up a ladder decorating his Christmas tree when Compo knocks on the window causing Howard to fall off and demolish the Christmas tree
Howard trying to deliver his Christmas present to Marina without Pearl finding out is fairly amusing.
This episode ends much the same as "crums" with a Christmas party for the main cast this time in the cafe.
Last of the Summer Wine: Crums (1988)
a christmas classic
A brilliant episode with Compo,Clegg and Foggy chasing a Santa Claus dressed as Santa Clauses! Who turns out to be Howard who has volunteered to be Santa so he can get to see the "good fairy" Marina .
Eli comes into the pub and falls through the open hatch a year before Del boy did it in Only fools and horses
A guest appearance from Yvette Fielding who at the time was a blue Peter presenter and seems genuinely amused at compo's antics in the cafe.
Clegg makes some classic remarks
Seymour;people don't realise there's an imposter running around pretending to be father christmas.
Clegg: it happens every election.
And
I'm looking forward to January the twelfth cos it seems such a long way fro next Christmas
there is more hilarity when the lads deliver Glenda's Christmas present of a home made water bed on the back of Wesley's pick up truck which leaks through the ceiling on Christmas eve and the lads also agreeing reluctantly to guard Aunty Wainwright as she fears she will be burgled on Christmas eve only to find a suprise party waiting for them with most of the main cast attending.
A nice part is Nora paying tribute to her late husband Wally played by Joe Gladwin who had recentiy passed away.
