Quando Alice ruppe lo specchio (1988)
The Italian Version of American Psycho
I'm a big fan of Fucli and i was a bit skeptical of this film when i heard that its a dark comedy. But i saw it, and it was simply hysterical. I loved the dark comedy in it. And the character of Lester Parson has a lot in common with American Psycho's Patrick Bateman, but also has many opposites. For example: while Patrick lives in a fancy apartment, Lester lives in a fancy house. Or while they are both rich, Patrick is in no financial problems, but Lester is starting to get into deep debt with gambling (and he also takes money and jewelry from the women he kills to aid his troubles). And one more example - while Patrick's killings basically go unnoticed and dismissed by everyone as a joke in American Psycho, Lester's killings get slowly revealed to everyone by his mysterious nemesis, which turns out to be his own shadow! There are many more examples of their differences, but if you decide to watch this film, you'll notice them along the way.
Also, Fulci's gore effects are (as always) top notch.
This is not a perfect movie by any means, but damn is it fun and gory as heck! If you happen to love Fulci's work and love American Psycho, (or if you simply just like gore) then this is a match made in heaven!
Black Christmas (2019)
I'd give this less than 1 if i could.
You don't even need to see it to know it's gonna suck major sick. It's an absolute disgrace to the original. There is nothing good about it.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
A true horror film
Thats all you need to know. The movie is simply put, pure horror.
People getting chainsawed, furniture made out of human body parts, an insane cannibalistic family. What else do you need?
The movie also boosts the feeling of realism by having an almost documentary like feeling. With the gritty atmosphere, the chilling soundtrack and the way everything was shot. Simply put - perfection!
Phantasm (1979)
What a great horror flick!
Phantasm is like the most underrated thing in existence.
The character of Tall Man is amazing, not to mention unique. One of the most frightening villains ever in my opinion! Angus Scrimm did an amazing job in his performance.
The main characters are very good for a horror film. Usually, they are just a bunch of stupid teens doing stupid things. But here, it's not the case! They have a story, some depth to them, likable personalities, and most importantly; a motive!
The spheres are a really cool concept for an outer worldly weapon. Who would of thought that a simple orb could be so deadly? It's simple, but it works!
The story is a little typical, but all of the elements mentioned above really make it work greatly!
Overall, i highly recommend it to every horror fan out there who hasn't seen it.
Remember, if this one doesn't scare you; you're already dead!
Pumpkinhead (1988)
A nice little monster movie
It was a pretty fun experience. The story is alright and Pumpkinhead himself is AWESOME. The acting was alright too. I really liked Florence Schauffler in her role as Haggis the witch. Really creepy and evil old lady! Lance Henriksen's performance as Ed Harley was also really good. I didnt really like the teens though. They were just a bunch of unlikable asses and i didnt care much about them at all.
But overall, it's a great little monster flick! I recommend every monster fan to give it a shot!
