Death of Me (2020)
Interesting concept done on a terrible, bad way.
Avoid it. Do you have to wash the dishes? Do you have to clean the garden? Do you have to work? Just do it and avoid this movie. Everything is better than watching this, believe me. And don't even dare to spend a cent on this. I even think that watching the roof, lying in bed and meditating about life is better than watching this.
The concept was interesting and could be a 7/10 stars movie, but it was so poorly executed that theres nothing good with it, really. The only thing that was nice to see at this movie was the scenario, beautiful place where it was recorded and that's all.
Lake Mungo (2008)
Solid and good movie, not what you may expect at first.
I can't stop comparing it with The Fourth Kind with it's fake documentary style. Even when this two movies are totally different in plot, they are somehow similar on how they were made
I saw the movie without watching a trailer or reading reviews, so I was actually expecting something else, but I'm glad with what I got.
The movie is pretty slow, indeed. Its the kind of movie you need to keep your distractions away. Watching it alone, in the dark and silence from the early morning will take you to different emotions and reactions than you watch it in the day-time, with companion and annoying exterior noises. Not a film to watch with your group of friends while you all eat popcorn and joke about what you are watching.
It scared me for moments, not the kind of fear of a jumpscare, it was more likely a fear with goosebumps, that feel that something is watching you from the dark while you try to focus on the movie, that you don't want to go to the bathroom because you have to walk into the dark hallway before you can turn on the lights.
Now, talking deeply about the movie, the acting was pretty good. The film really looks like a documentary, real people just sharing thoughts about questions being made about a particular subject. The picture is good too, even with its low-pixel scenes supposed to be as "proofs". The plot has twists that totally compensates the slow-burning mode.
I suggest to give it a shot. You may fall sleep or you may like it, depends not only in the situation you watch the film, but from the emotions from the viewer too.
Citizen X (1995)
Gets better over time.
On the first half of the movie I was thinking "they should just made a documentary about it! how could they do this movie!?" but things get much better at second half of the movie.
I still think that the movie could be done much more better, and not only speaking about facts, but in terms of horror and thriller/detective genre too. If a remake happens, I would like it to be directed by David Fincher.
I also liked how the movie shows how law and police departaments works on a communist system. Even when it talks about soviet communism, its a political system that still takes part on several countries over the world.
