Raised in a very Mormon community and with the whole patriarchy do what your husband and bishop say
12 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was raised in a small town just outside of SLC and I love these kinds of documentaries because they bring to light the real truths. The town where I was raised was totally LDS. I see the main difference between the FLDS and the LDS is they don't practice polygamy...right now. I am interested to see since polygamy is almost legal again if the LDS church re-adopts the practice. So much pressure "to choose the right". Most kids have a ring on their finger to remind them. Being a mom and a "good" wife is the only option I was given as a child and my husband could tell me to do anything. So could the bishop. If you go to college because you can't find a husband, you can take nursing, family studies, education or anything else that will contribute to being a good homemaker because that is your one true calling. I am sure that mormons raised outside of Utah have more choices. If you choose to leave the church in my family, you aren't invited to family events. Your children are watched closely so they don't infect the rest of the family If you are a Mormon, you wear certain clothes, look and talk a certain way, give 10% of your income and protect your children from "the real world" but they hate it when you call it a cult. Most are pretending their family is perfect which in my mind is not being honest. It's your church above your country and if the church wanted something different than the country they would do what they did again when they came to Utah. They are armed and believe in many conspiracy theories. I see more documentaries of this kind in the future. Loved every minute of it.

Piers isn't good at this
11 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst documentary I've seen in a long time. Piers seems to think that if he confronts these guys like a bully he is going to get them to "tell the truth". Any day in prison they face worse than Piers can dish out. Piers says at the first of the episode it's their chance to tell their side of the story than he doesn't let them talk and presents the evidence the police collected at the time they were convicted and just makes them angry. Obviously, they would have heard the story the police put together or most of it during their trials. I would venture to say from what I've seen of Piers that his is probably a narcissist. He certainly shows no compassion or empathy and no new information is presented. He doesn't handle the people affected by the deaths well. I have no idea why he was picked to do this series. Total waste of time.

Gaslighted by doctors
6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am so disturbed by this. If a person brought their dog to a vet thinking it had worms or some other parasite would the vet begin with the assumption that the person was crazy and having hallucinations and that anyone else who backs them up is also crazy and having hallucinations. Some of these doctors are making patients feel like what they are saying isn't valid and then getting together and laughing about it which is so abusive and reckless. The patient could end up not doing anything until they are very sick. There isn't any actual doctoring going on. No listing of symptoms, examining of evidence and making an appropriate diagnosis. I've been there. It's hard to find a doctor who is actually talented enough to figure out what is wrong with their patients especially if what you have and your symptoms are rare and unusual. They are just sticking you with needles, reading lab reports and writing prescriptions. Don't give up just because they can't figure it out or are lazy or arrogant. Don't let them damage your self esteem. Keep looking for a better doctor.

The difference between a great salesman and a successful businessman
4 April 2021
I was married to someone who was a great salesman trying to start a business. We made a great plan. He was great at making sales but he saw success as the amount of sales he made not the actual net profit of the business which is I think very common in entrepreneurial personalities. I ran the administrative side of the business and many times tried to explain to him many times that it doesn't matter if you had half a million dollars in sales if at the end of the day you spent more than you made. He kept selling to people who I had put on COD because they hadn't paid their accounts. Also, growing to fast is a recipe for disaster because if you have a ton of product on the shelf you have to pay for it when the invoice comes and you haven't sold it. Great talkers are often not great businessman even though they can convince people that they are until the ish hits the fan. Next thing you know Adam will start his own arm of Scientology or run for President. When people are selling you happiness or saying they are going to make the world a better place for everyone read everything carefully before you sign on the dotted line.

It's to bad for Americans that they didn't take note of Molly's warning
9 February 2021
There are a number of documentaries showing that Trump doesn't think laws apply to him. It's sad to think how many people he has hurt and lives he has ruined for the almighty buck. Grateful he is out of the WH and back in the swamps of Florida.

Absolutely the worst
12 January 2021
It's not that the story plot is so bad but every else is. The acting and everything else.

Easy to get addicted
30 November 2020
It's easy to get addicted to the lunacy. It makes me feel like I have a fabulous life with amazing children and grandchildren watching this show. You can't look away. It's like a car crash on the side of the road.

What a waste of my evening. It seemed like it was going to be ok but a complete an utter waste of two hours or how ever long it lasted.

Fascinating
12 October 2020
Having grown up in what I think of as a religious cult I find this series fascinating. I was totally burned out by the misogyny in Episode 8. I don't think it would hit me this hard but my first husband was abusive like that. It's crazy how hard it is to see that you are in a cult until you break free. Kudos to everyone who has survived.

Loved it!
21 October 2019
It's amazing how people continue to deny to themselves that this kind of abuse is covered up and goes on in many places and yet, everyone I know has either dealt with it themselves or has a family member who has. Something that wasn't acknowledged or talked about when I was a kid because it is not a nice subject. The victim shaming goes on...

Great show but....
19 October 2019
This show is very interesting and well written. I am to episode 4 but I am really done with the star's children all talking loudly at the same time...it isn't cute or endearing, it's annoying.
