The Half of It (I) (2020)

Cute but not smart
1 May 2020
If a teen rom-com has a lot of throw downs, this one just has a lot of slow downs. As an Asian, I am just NOT very comfortable with Asian characters being frequently stereotyped as meek, corner-dwelling folks with little to say. I mean, it's 2020, do people still think Asians are straight-A students, or are miraculously able to do kung fu? Do people still horrendously worship blonde hotties in high school and walk all over dorks? You got to take it with a pinch of salt. Just like Crazy Rich Asians, this movie again fails to give an accurate portrayal of Asians. I rated 6 stars because I found the last scene incredibly cute and touching, and I love the LOVEs this teen rom-com was trying to tell.

Correction is a fact.

Stumbled on this on BBC and so glad I did. Curious, then gripping and hooked in the end. Is the TRUTH sometimes a matter of perspective? Is correction a fact, or an alternative fact? This is the real question in our real bloody world. With wheels within wheels beginning to spin, things will keep being staged nicely. If there were more shows like this, I would definitely enjoy quarantining at home (what a lie!)

Why Women Kill (2019–2021)

A Good Time Killer
20 October 2019
Just finished the first season which generally knocked the socks off me, sometimes boredom came up while watching it tho. It was not something that hit me to the core, but was fun enough to be a good time killer. The plot didn't beat round the bush, and was like a knife thrusting right into the heart of dark/devious side. The satire on love and lust made us rethink about the human, the humanity, and the value that claimed to represent both in our society, past and present. Love Lucy Liu and Leo Howard, also can't help but notice Kirby who once charmingly spoke London accent in Killing Eve.
