Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made (2018)
Interesting idea bad execution
I really tried to give this movie a chance. I love me some psychological horror movies that are off beat and are trying to scar you for life but this movie isn't it. I will admit that I do appreciate the set up for the movie. A movie that kills you, a movie that disturbs you to it's very core. But the movie itself just doesn't execute that feeling or vibe. Only once did I actually feel unsettled watching this movie, and although that one time really had my heart pounding other than that one scene(the devil scene) the rest of the movie was just not interesting to watch.
Some spoilers:
Flashing symbols on the screen every 2 seconds doesn't make the film scary or unsettling to watch. Distorting audio just to distort audio doesn't make the movie scary. Cutting to random footage with on the nose symbolism doesn't help either. My biggest complaint with this movie is that it felt restrained. There was no actual gore in this movie, or full nudity. My problems with that fact is that as a movie that is said to be killing people and could have possibly have been created by a cult it really shouldn't have any sort of restraint when it comes to disturbing imagery. I shouldn't feel like the directors of this movie have any type of morals or are sparing me, the viewer from a truly disturbing experience.
