Bosque de sombras (2006)
Fantastic
Compelling. Excellent sub plots. I wish it was explained a little more or given a better wrap up or I would have given it a 10
247°F (2011)
So many great elements
There are a lot of things at play. I wish there was more of a satisfying end. Exciting and thrilling. Not terrifying but definitely suspenseful. Would recommend
As Above, So Below (2014)
Thrilling
Clever plot, great suspense, amazing scenery. This movie had my attention from beginning to end. To make it a 10 I would have liked to see a little more depth to the plot/sub plot action/more interesting. Otherwise fantastic. I loved the way it was shot too. Right up there with Blair witch but I think I liked if even more
Sleepaway Camp (1983)
Classic
What a classic 70s80s film. Totally at eye height of its genre. I do find parts suspenseful actually and I really enjoyed the subplot on this one. I wish there was more fake blood and more attention to detail.
I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016)
Well filmed. That's about it
Painfully slow moving, made no sense, no climax. Well filmed in a creepy way. I would not recommend
The Purge (2018)
Classic
What an awesome horror movie from start to finish. This is a pretty classic grindhouse film. Feels almost 70s/80s at some points. There is gore and classic jumpscares with a suspenseful feel at points. This movies plot is so original, probably the reason it caught on so well. There isn't much clever or psychologically chilling to it, it's fairly straightforward, however what they chose to do is so well done I gave it a 10 even though I prefer a little more cleverness.
Lavender (2016)
What a twist
Amazing movie. Such a neat twist at the end. Character development was fantastic and the storyline was great too. The makeup and scene setting was well done. I found that this movie, as well done as it was, didnt hold enough memory for me that it stood out in my mind, and that is why I gave it a 9. Wosh I could have pointed out something more specific.
Malevolent (2018)
Cool storyline but fell short
This could have been a good movie if there was more added to it. The plot was neat but there wasnt much in the way of add ons or sub plots. I enjoyed the idea but the movie spent too much time in the wrong places and ended up feeling pretty short in the end because the action to the climax was all pushed towards the end. I wouldn't watch this again.
Regression (2015)
Mislabeled but intriguing
What a fantastic movie. Based on a true story this was beautifully depicted and the scenery and acting was marvelous. Would have gave full stars except it is not scary enough to be a good horror movie as it was advertised. The genre label didnt match, I found it more of a thriller. Excellent movie I would watch again.
It Follows (2014)
Nothing special but not a waste of time
This movie had notes of a classic 70s/80s horror which I enjoyed. Paying tribute to where horror came from. I also felt like this movie moved along okay, there weren't any scenes that dragged on too long. The movie did have enough action to keep you interested. The issue is the action could have been improved on. There was very little character development and we basically found out what "it" was and that was that. There was no more to what this force was or why it wants to kill you. However, I understand this may have been relating to STDs which would explain it. I just wasnt very interested and the ending made no sense. Also what was the broken leg about? This movie had potential but fell short.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
Great and could also be improved
I was pretty blown away by this movie. Creepy , thrilling, clever. I wish there was something scary to see or more of a climax/ending. The lead up to the end was fantastic but I felt it was cut short. The family dynamics and the scene was very realistic. There was a lot of attention to detail. The movie left a few questions and it left me wanting more. They set it up nicely for a sequel. Like I said I would have really liked to see more of an unravel. Overall a very good movie.
Apostle (2018)
Awesome
This movie was dark, creepy, and interesting from the very start. I give the nine because it was fantastic but it would need a little more of a twisted reveal or something we really weren't expecting for a 10. We weren't expecting the reveal certainly, but not quite 10 worthy. I loved the scene and the acting. I didn't understand the end but that maybe is the good thing about it, makes you want to go figure it out after. Personally I would have liked the ending explained better. As a Christian I detest the notion of God abandoning our protagonist because it is simply not true, but I understand that is just his point of view. I would definitely reccomend this.

Disappointing
This movie held our attention at first and could have been really good, the setup was interesting. My attention was there wondering what the explanation would be for this town but it was a disappointing reasoning and the uunveil was simply flat. The movie also diverts onto some tangents that really aren't important to the storyline. The acting is horrible by our protagonist, and I usually dont recognize bad acting. Briana Evigan was probably the best part of the movie (mysterious raven haired girl at the bar) I always wanted to know what she was up to. Overall they set us up for what could have been a good movie. The storyline was there the beautiful hotel was there but I was disappointed.
Delirium (2018)
Twisted, slow, clever
Well it was slow to start. The audience would be hard pressed to stay interested during the first 3/4 of the movie. There was a it twist at the end that was quite surprising. I really enjoyed how we didn't know if we could trust our protagonists eyes or not. Enjoyable.
