Ahsoka: Part Three: Time to Fly (2023)
Solid but not sure
Like Russell T. Davis of Doctor who, Dave Filoni is a great show runner but his writing has its flaws.
I have enjoyed this show so far and I have no doubt that it's end product will be really good, but it certainly isn't perfect.
In this third episode, we see a lot of common occurrences in Star Wars, a forgettable space battle where the heroes have unlimited shield and the bad guy fighters are one tap. We see a Jedi training that is the exact same as the hundreds we've seen before. And we get a really awkward sequence with Hera's son that felt like an obligation more than a meaningful inclusion.
But in the end, this feels like Star Wars and Rosario Dawson is flawless as my favorite character.
I think this will get where it needs to go, but this wasn't as good as 1-2. Overall though, I'm not worried as it at least advanced the story.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 24: The Return (2023)
Music suffered post Ludwig
The score is noticeably worse than in season 2, but it's not all. The story just wasn't there. I'm concerned for the future of this show honestly leaving myself wondering if ending at Season 2 would've been best.
I'm not a Star Wars fatalist like many, and usually like all that comes our way, but this didn't feel like Star Wars. I know that's a stupid statement but it's true. It felt more marvel-esc with its thin plot and rather tasteless fight scenes.
The season took too long to not get anywhere, and an eight episode season should be quick moving without the random side quests season 3 took us on.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore (2023)
Something's Missing
I can't explain it, but it just feels like the second season is missing something. I get that the focus is shifting to Mandalore, but the entire feeling of the show is different and doesn't feel like it's quite right. I'm starting to think Grogu shouldn't have come back to Din and this season should have been Mando without his foundling. I also am not a big fan of the relationship with Bo Katan and Mando. Their dialogue feels messy because of their differences but they keep having the same discussion over and over. Lastly, the dark saber dispute is frustrating me a little bit. If Bo Katan and Din duel over it and she is killed, I'm going to be very upset and disappointed. I need to relax because I felt this way after the second episode of season two, but I'm just not enjoying this like I thought I was.
Football Night in America (2006)
A once great broadcast
I have always loved the FNIA broadcast. Love how professional it is compared to its rivals. Such a clean presentation with some really incredible talent. However, I don't like it's new format. They overload the front half with so many commercials thinking that nobody watches until the 4:25 slot is over. I wish the A block would be a bit bulkier instead of so choppy and short. It's really just a highlight show, with a few reminders that there will be a game later, then a ton of commercials. I know there isn't much the production can do since it has to appease its higher ups, but for the love of god, two minute blocks are ridiculous.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: Choices (2022)
Anyone Notice Plo Koon had Clone Armor on?
Small error seeing Plo Koon with Clone armor on his forearms long before the existence of the War. Obviously not a big deal, just wondering if anyone caught it. Really enjoying the show so far, wish Filoni manned the sequels more and more every day. This did a really good job depicting Dooku and the Jedi in color and less and less black and white. The prequels scratched the surface with this in Revenge of the Sith but I think Filoni took the entire Separatist vs Republic political war to new heights in the clone wars and he is continuing to do so in this show! He truly is the best Star Wars mind.
Brother from Another (2020)
Shockingly Low
Why are the reviews so low? Because conservatives snowflakes can't stand listening to the other opinion. These same folks say keep politics out of sports, then turn to listen to folks like Clay Travis and don't complain. Why? Because then they say keep politics out of sports, they mean keep the political views we don't agree with out. Michael and Michael aren't afraid to get political, and they are in a respectful manner. Two highly educated guys that have a great deal to say.
