The Magic Prank Show with Justin Willman (2024)
Thought it could potentially be real until episode 6
Parts of this show is definitely scripted. The introductions and buildup to the pranks are the most pathetic attempts at acting by Justin and his friends that I have ever seen. That being said, the actual pranks on the victims were at the very least slightly believable. The pranks themselves were not bad, some reactions by the victims might have been over the top and some were more calm. This is expected when dealing with a population.
Where I completely lost all believability was episode 6 where a man was apparently hypnotized and was made to fall asleep at the word "sleep", repeatedly, and woke up at the snap of a finger not knowing that he was apparently asleep. Then while sleeping he was rolled around, put in a van, driven elsewhere and happened to still remain asleep. This is just ridiculous and impossible. I don't know how gullible they think the audience is but this made me believe the entire show is fake because if you can fake one prank, you possibly faked them all. Sorry but 1 star instead of the 3 I was about to give it.
Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea (2023)
Aaron Paul's acting is the only reason it isn't a 1
This episode has HUGE plot holes, characters act in ways that no real people would and the story itself is EXTREMELY predictable. Aaron Paul however played his roles to perfection. This man single handedly carried the episode.
Why were the humans in space and not the copies? Why were there no backup copies made, even generic ones, knowing that they wouldn't be back to earth for a long time? Why did the guy whose family was killed not be more appreciative of the time he was getting in his partners body? So many questions and plot holes that I can't be bothered to type them all out. From the time they swapped bodies we all knew what the end result would be and it took way too long to get there. Trash storyline, great acting.
Bake Squad: Bar Mitzvah (2023)
As usual the bake squad giving wins to who don't deserve
I'm rating this episode 1 star solely on the lack of integrity of this competition. 3 bakers did amazing work based on technique, imagination and talent, while one baker baked things any home cook could have done but still won. Make no mistake, she won not on her own credit but because the bake squad producers gave her props that were nice. Even her wow factor, chocolate milk, wasn't even something she made on her own. Instead it was COMPLETELY given to her by the show. This lady does not deserve to be there with the rest of those talented individuals, far less to win anything. I hate that the other contestants have to lose due to the show giving her a win.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu: Episode 6 (2022)
While it attempts to be logical, it isn't
The game at the Supreme Court is meant to be a game of logic being played by very smart people. However in said game, choosing 0 will NEVER allow you to win the round, because the number can never be under 0. Choosing 1 is the most logical answer if you are attempting to choose the lowest number possible to win the round. For some reason, all these supposedly smart persons kept choosing 0 repeatedly, even all tying at once with 3 0's.
Sadly this TV show went from being great in season 1 to barely watchable in season 2. Every episode has either the thickest plot armor or completely illogical decisions being made by non-main characters.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
Good premise, good suspense, too much plot armor
This show is really well thought out. It is a unique idea and an interesting concept. The viewer is left in suspense for the majority of it as we aren't sure what is going on. However the plot armor is wayyyy too thick on the main characters. There are multiple instances where there is no chance that the main characters would survive but somehow they do for no good reason. Many of the choices that people make are very obviously out of character when it comes to not killing the main character.
This could have been a 9 or 10 but due to the poor writing and abundance of plot armor, this show gets a 7 from me.
Season 2 would get a 2/10 if I could rate it individually because no enemy makes sensible decisions and every main character can escape death by just running while everyone else around them dies using the same strategy. It is so horrible I am sorry I ever invested time into this show.
