Homogeneous Flora

Warning: Spoilers
One of the stand out amazing things about Stargate Atlantis is how many worlds out there apparently have Canadian flora! Just incredible! What a coincidence!

Great Concept - Then They Got Lazy
9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've just finished re-watching this series from a DVD box set I have and, allowing for the technology at the time, If I was to review the first two series and the best episodes (with accompanying, underpinning concept/s) then I would be able to give it 10/10 - easy. But from Series 7 onwards, increasingly so we have episodes that regurgitate previous episodes, soap opera terrestrial plots, shameless promulgation of other series actors and worse. Notwithstanding the technology constraints of the time, this could have been a truly awesome series. Instead in just creeps into a good category IF you skip the rubbish episodes. What an increasing waste of a great concept!

Watchable - But Could Have Been So Much Better
24 October 2021
Combine Crime Drama with the backdrop of Wales underpinned by well scripted plots and cleverly woven characters. What's not to like about this potential? Quite a lot unfortunately. The linearity of the stories seem to suffer from a jumble after they apparently have been dropped. The non contribution of Chief Supt Brian Prosser is irrelevant and the ridiculous conflict with DCI Tom Mathias adds nothing and subtracts plenty. VERY disappointing.

VERY DISSAPOINTING - A complete failure
19 October 2021
My wife and I love British drama, British crime genre and Nicola Walker, given good material and direction, is watchable (but never great). So we were really looking forward to this.

After 20 minutes or so of watching the first episode, we both turned to each other and asked "are you enjoying this?". Both of us said No.

The whole approach and content is scant and unengaging and the "talk to the camera" just doesn't work.

The script/storyline has the depth of an almost dehydrated puddle. Case in point - Di Strandhed (was that nomenclature intended?) turns to her petulant daughter when both are on a Police boat and refers to wind and spray - but they are both inside a closed hard cabin!

There were a couple of funny moments and a couple of moments that could have been funny but were wasted.

CGI and Visual Defects Make This Unwatchable
8 October 2021
OMG, I've been a FH / Dune universe fan forever, so was really looking forward to a 2000 update on the cheesy but watchable 1984 version. My wife and I ended up laughing at how bad the CGI and Visual Defects were. These made it impossible to move onto to story line veracity. How even the SciFi Channel could be proud let alone comfortable releasing the production of this staggers us.

2.5 Episodes Watched Non To Go!
2 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this would be really interesting and it was, for about 5 seconds, then it went to WTF and finally (and quickly) to absolute trash.

No one seems to know what they are doing, everything done on the fly, no Project Management = builds and fits not what the boss wanted.

Sticking up the "5 Ps signs" with the expectation it will magically solve everything - news flash - you have to put that into practice!

Vinyl Bubble Wrap instead of Vinyl Wrap.

I can't believe these guys are in business let alone famous.

DON'T BE SHEEPISH - Definitely Worth Seeing!
4 December 2020
Ok, first up, I'll declare that my love for this movie is underpinned by the fact that I live in Mount Barker, Western Australia where RAMS - The Movie was filmed. It portrays Mount Barker well and the film crew were absolutely fantastic in engaging Mount Barker and the community!

With that deservedly said, I absolutely loved this movie. It has everything, pathos, bucket loads of humour (with some laugh out loud moments), superb directing, production and acting and, of course, Mount Barker's (Shire of Plantagenet) wonderful unspoiled and natural scene scapes.

I've never given ten stars, and will probably not again, but RAMS - The Movie deserves every one of those stars - easily!

Definitely recommended!

A Very Entertaining CGI Romp
26 July 2020
Ok, the Dystopian thing has been done to death (no pun intended). But I found this a creative and interesting spin with awesome CGI and some very good acting. Very entertaining, especially if you are exhausted from catching thousands of chooks.

As others have said, the scenery and interaction with that is very good indeed. I envy those that have seen it on a huge screen - that would be awesome!

This could easily be 10 stars - BUT THE WORLD IS NOT FULL OF TEENAGERS!
23 June 2020
I really looked forward to this series. The underlying story line is good and there are some wonderful twists and great acting. BUT - I'm fed up wading through the excruciating pain of totally over the top teenage pitched angst. If there was an Oscar for hanging on to grudges the world would run out of bl**dy gold and the presentation would take years. It's only a matter of seconds before everyone has a beef with everyone..AGAIN...and AGAIN . Such a waste of wonderful scenery and sets...

Could Be So Much Better!
1 March 2020
Ok, the good stuff - Finally a Star Trek series after so many years. Great sets, wonderful effects courtesy of modern CGI, some great tech and clever plot development - in Season 1. Onto Season 2 and the disappointing / bad stuff. First off, loose the obsession with Michael Burnham. Basically a single character, soapy drenched tragic waste of what Discovery could be. Next, instill some consistency (canon). Discovery has area of more tech that NG but is a century earlier. With a bigger budget and capacity for production, Discovery could (and needs) to be so much more given the subject matter. I get it that there needs to an element of human relationship dynamics but let's loose the soap avalanche available in a million rubbish series elsewhere. Hopefully those responsible for the forthcoming series 3 will take this and other constructive criticisms on board.

Judy Sold Her Soul - A New Low in Rubbish
23 February 2020
There's a suite of abysmal actors - Stalone, Segal who set a bottom benchmark for acting, then there's Vin Diesel who took, and takes bad acting (actually no acting at all) to a (bottom) level that is all his own and breathtakingly bad. But even prepared with this knowledge, TCoR was excrement personified. Netflix will be happy, the aggregate of the seconds my wife and I watched this will be enough to add us to their skewed popularity stats. Neither of us could make head nor tail out of this jumble. Judy Dench sold her soul appearing in this.

Lobotomy and Pain Killers a Compulsory Prerequisite
18 January 2020
Watched part of this yesterday - and found it impossible to continue. I actually think it would be impossible to cover this material any worse. Totally amazed that this was funded. Every cliche and p*ssing contest by a bunch of brainless GI Joes. To stand any chance of enjoying and respecting this me thinks a Lobotomy and Pain Killers are a Compulsory Prerequisite.

Great Visuals - Terrible Narrative
12 January 2020
Let me say that I'm a great fan of Barry Humphries but this is NOT one of his great (or even good) performances. The visuals, as to be expected were good. But who wrote the narrative and there were times when Barry's narrative intonation is painful. My wife (who was in an adjoining room) thought I was watching a kids show. So I wasn't alone in regards to the narrative. It really spoils what otherwise would have been a good viewing experience.

Entertaining Romp If You Don't Nitpick
1 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I get some of the low reviews. My enjoyment so far (having watched only the first three episodes) was not overthinking some of the scenes and appreciating what is a plausible and very disturbing premise - that other animals develop a cognitive behavior changing ability. So far it's startled me, entertained me, intrigued me and made me laugh. Collectively, these make the watching experience very engaging. So far, there is plenty of action and location changes to add to the engagement.

10 until Ardal O'Hanlon then 0 - so 5 average
29 December 2019
My wife and I loved this show and we'd gladly gave it 10 stars and couldn't wait for the next episode. Casting was superb, especially for the main characters with so much depth and some hilarious moments. Then they brought in Ardal O'Hanlon. What were they thinking!? Definitely the worst possible casting and absolutely killed it for us and dropped that rating down to absolute zero and lost us completely.
