Wow!
9 December 2023
An excellent film. I haven't seen a movie this well done in a long time. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat from the start to its climax .The story line was riveting, and the message was all true on so many fronts today. The acting was excellent and made the movie all the more believable. The movie was both frightful and mind-bending, and it touched all of the emotions. The layout was a 10, and the characters were interesting and true to nature.. It's been a long time since I have seen a film this good, and frankly, despite the genre this movie has to be in the running for a host of awards across the board. I truly recommend this film to every person in America who loves movies. This movie will be on my blur-ray list when it becomes available. I truly loved this film.

Truly a Great Film
14 November 2023
I didn't know what to expect from this movie but my approach to films is like my approach to dining I'll try anything once maybe twice and I love surprises and Paris, 13th District fed me a surprise and it was delicious. I love it, I love, I love it from the start to the end. The narration was sweet and equally shared a part in the story itself. It brought a form of art to the film while the film itself laid the story out beautifully. The characters were well developed not the Hollywood version of the predictable Joe or Sally but characters who actually exist but not often portrayed. I highly recommend this movie for those who love movies but seek more than the traditional movie we have all come accustomed to seeing.

Black Adam (2022)
8/10
Good Movie but Miscast.
5 September 2023
First the good: I found Black Adam to be a very enjoyable movie with an agreeable storyline and an enjoyable cast of characters. The movie had humor, plenty of action, and moved at a nice pace. The action scenes are great, and the setting for the movie was terrific. But I also found the movie to be miscast, starting with Dewayne Johnson being cast in the role of Black Adam. The flavorless Johnson performance came up seriously short for me; at times, it appeared Johnson was acting more like a robot than an actual real life person. Johnson appeared to lack the chops to conjure up the much-needed emotional vengeance and change of heart needed to pull off the role. I felt Aldis Hodge, who played Hawkman of the Justice Society of America, would have been a better choice for the lead, while Johnson would have been a good fit as Hawkman. Also, Quintessa Swindell's role as Cyclone mirrored Johnson's performance, which was flavorless at best. The other cast members especially Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Shahi and Noah Centineo did a good job. The movie was entertaining, but it could have been so much more if the producers had taken the time to think through what type of actor should be cast in the lead. Black Adam called for an actor with the ability to bring flavor to the role, whether it was an African American or any other appropriate ethnic person in the role, something Johnson who I like lacked.

Fatale (II) (2020)

Entertaining.
6 August 2023
I held off watching this movie on Netflix because I thought it would be just another one of those Hollywood dramas but to my surprise despite having a running theme many movie fans have come all to familiar with Fatale turn out to be a pleasant watch. Visionally the movie was fantastic and the story itself kept my attention throughout the movie. That characters were interesting and the acting was on point for what the film was.. But overall I really enjoyed the film the two leads held their own and I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to walk away and feel like it was worth the view. I often pass on movie like this but I won't be so quick to do so in the future. You never know what you'll get. Watch Fatale and escape for awhile in a nice drama.

Movie of the Year!
19 February 2023
I truly didn't know what to expect from this movie. Honestly as much as I love movies the subject manner really wasn't appealing to be my taste for so many reasons and on so many levels. And yes if anyone should have been interested in this movie it should have been me. As the credits I have to say I haven't seen such a moving movie in a long long time. The story, second to none, the acting, beyond excellent in so many way, the sets were outstanding, directing etc. Second to none. I encourage everyone and anyone who loves movies to see this film. It's been a long time coming and its arrived at the right time in history not just for the people who love film but for a nation, and a planet. I highly recommend this film.

Just What the Mulitverse Ordered!
17 January 2023
Funny, funny, funny and some. Let me start off saying my wife and I are huge comedy fans. We have seen a ton of comedians including some of the greats. Carlin, Pryor, Mooney, also Mencia, Murphy, and Raphi May to name a few. I really didn't know what to expect and being a fan one cold morning I took the plunge. Love him really loved his style, honesty, timing was off the hook and more importantly Mr. Santino was fearless with a wit to match. Political, current, against the grain and soul searching his show had it all in a time when a older generation but very small minority of people want to censor free speech. This guy like Bill Burr is here to stay. Loved it and I highly recommend watching his show.

A Fun Watch!
26 December 2022
I really did not know what to expect going into this movie I even put off watching Bullet Train for a interesting documentary. But for a lack of entertainment one night my wife and I decided to give it a peep and I have to say it was very interesting entertaining and fun ride. I really enjoyed this film as it kept me guessing and also laughing making it a fun watch. The acting was solid the story line was interesting. The twist and turns made the movie very watchable and well worth the hype. Lots of interesting characters bringing their own flavor to the film is what did it for me. I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to watch a film and walk away satisfied with a smile.

Solid Stands On Its Own!
13 November 2022
I stumble into this series now knowing what it was about. My wife was watching Bel-Air I had no clue what I was watching and I was hooked. This program stands on it own the writing is excellent the acting is on point the whole feel of the program given its roots is amazing. I'm amazed that someone had the vision to see the potential and opportunity the original program laid out. This is a solid drama on the level of a new waves of dramas we see on streaming channels without hooks and nonsense. The feel of the dialog is real the characters and story line flows evenly giving one a inward view of one family travels through life in Bel-Air.

The Bomb!
23 August 2022
Boss Level was all that and a bag of chips. It had it all, action, mystery, comedy, cool and top it off with something for the lady's real sensitivity. Despite the movie coming in at 1hr and 35 minutes it played like a 2 hour blockbuster. I haven't had this much fun watching a movie in a while and based upon the closing scene I hope this isn't the last this dynamic piece of work. The characters were all on point the lead actor killed it in every scene. I'll be adding this one to my collection.

This was a very very good film!
6 August 2022
Prey has to be one of the best films I have seen this year. It kept my attention from the opening scene to the end. It stood along as a franchise film frankly it was better that all of them. Beautifully shot the acting was second to none the adventure the sound track it was all that and a bag of chips. The lead actress shined carried the film and all of the other characters were right on point. This film should be at the theaters. I'll be adding it to my collection I hope it comes out in 4k . I highly recommend film.

Surprise Surprise I Loved this Film
26 June 2022
I learned a repeated lesson from this film 'never judge a film by its trailer'. I put off watching this movie due to the film promotion of being part romantic comedy this despite being an admirer of Emma Thompson's solid career as an actress. Well lesson learned Good luck to You, Leo Grande was far from as describe but very much a serious film with a slightly lighthearted take about human beings their relationships and growth. I loved this film. Both actors were outstanding and gave top rated performances. The story line was engrossing and really carried the film. I highly recommend this film to anyone looking for a film which is a cut above the usually babble we see coming out of Hollywood. Trust me if you seriously love film making you'll love this move.

I Recommend This Movie
19 June 2022
True stores always have a way of cutting through the fallacy of of what Hollywood and what it overseers hope us all to believe. That's way I'm a big fan of truth telling. Oh I know liberties are taken by screenwriters and others but the core of the story still rings true in most stories. I found this movie to be enlighten well acted. Sometimes the unwillingness of some in the world to except truth as it is written becomes a hard pill to swallow but the movie The Birdcatcher goes down easy as easy as the reality it is based upon. I loved this movie and the message it sends especially to the critics who continue no to be who they really are.

Watchable to a Point....
15 June 2022
First let me say Jennifer Lawrence was way to young for this role despite the age difference being written into the story line. This isn't the first movie I've seen where the movie would have been better served despite Ms. Lawrence obvious talent if an more age appropriate actress had been cast. Having said that I was on board with this movie until it took a turn into the bizarre towards the end. Jarvier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer did an excellent job as always but this movie failed in the end as it appeared to have no ending which was sad given how interesting the first half of the story was. Sorry won't and will not be recommending this movie to anyone.

Pieces of Her (2022)

Great Series!
12 March 2022
Just finished watching the first season of Netflix's Pieces of Her and I'm hooked. I find this story to be both riveting and well directed. Veteran actress Toni Collette leads a solid cast which pulls together a somewhat complex story which explains itself throughout the series with a number of time shifts.. This story itself which features some very flawed and broken characters which can take some time to grow on you as far as excepting or understanding who what when where and how they came to be shaped within the story may be a challenge for some viewers but I promise you if you stick with it it will all pane out on the journey. Without giving up any spoilers this new Netflix series first season is well worth the watch. I for one is loving it. I binged watch the first six episodes and finished it off the next day. Loved it and looking forward to a second season. The creator of this series Charlotte Stoudt has done excellent job creating series which actual separates itself from what we have come accustom to seeing, kinda reminds me of an throwback on the late 80's series.

Could of would of should of
7 March 2022
Maggie Q and Samuel Jackson could have carried this movie to the winner circle by themselves but the casting of Micheal Keaton kill this movie for me. Keaton is not that guy never has been never will be and I wish directors would stop casting this guy in roles he is clearly incapable of pulling off. The plot was good the supporting actors were great but Keaton like he does so often in these type of dramas wasn't convincing not for a minute I hate not showing the love for a hometown guy but he ruin this movie for me it could have been so much better if someone more capable would have been cast in his role sorry......

Good Effort...
5 March 2022
Interesting, solid acting, and a good story line up to the ending. I thought this was a pretty good movie it kept me guessing early on but it needed just a little work on the back end. Hey the ending was going to be what it always is but I felt the story could of explored the guys married life/ relationship at home that may have been a opportunity to bring another twist into the story even if a small twist or maybe a unexpected turn. But over all it was a movie worth watching worthy of 6 1/2 or possible 7/10 and i'm not really a horror fan at all.....very good effort indeed two thumbs up for director Mimi Caves and scriptwriter Lauryn Kahn.

26 February 2022
First let me say I for one appreciate a film that takes us where no one dares to take us in film. For me when it comes to film I love the directors who show us all of the possibilities of the art and that is just what Julia Ducournau does with Titane. Good movie loved it.

Solid and Worth the Watch
13 February 2022
I found the newest Shonda Rhimes Netflix venture to be solid and well worth watching. Ms. Rhimes previous venture on Netflix wasn't my cup of tea despite being solid work so I was looking forward to seeing this modern series. It took an episode or two before I could get into it but once it got flowing I watched six straight episodes only to yield to bobsledding which I had on my Olympic watch list. I loved the fresh faces along with the seasoned actors and actresses of previous Rhimes shows. Julia Garner was fantastic as always and the cast was solid. All of the new comers to me did a fantastic job that is one thing I like about the movies and series we now see on streaming is the diverse talented cast. I remember this story and unlike many true stories that come to the big screen and fall short Ms. Rhimes hit this one out of the park.

It's a Hard No........
21 December 2021
Maybe it's my age but this movie was terrible, not funny, bad story line and for the life of me I don't understand the high rating for this failed experiment parading as enjoyable entertainment. I waited and waited for this film to improve. I never once laughed or became the slight interested in the storyline. Maybe that is why Netflix changed the title to draw interest to the film. Maybe next time but it's a very hard no for me when it comes to The Mitchell's vs The Machines.... Sorry.

A Solid Western: An Even Better movie!
9 November 2021
Based upon the trailer I wasn't very enthuse about watching this movie because it hinted of pass failed westerns which came off as 60's hip cop and robbers dressed up as cowboys. Don't get me wrong I loved The Coen brothers Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, I found Tarantino's DJango Unchained to be entertaining and incredibly well acted for what it is but as I stated earlier the trailer threw me for a loop. Now to the movie...... I found The Harder They Fall this to be one of the best westerns made in the modern era I've seen. I loved the directors take on this movie and the fact that the cast for the most part were all African Americans made it all the sweeter when it came to the directors approach of the characters in the movie. The compassion shown along with the ability to show some characters to be as ruthless as they come was a nice combo you don't often see in the overdone hero addictive Hollywood. The acting was outstanding the depth of the story deep and the actions scenes were on point. I was taken back at the end of the movie which made the ending all the sweeter. Also I found the ending so engrossing that the set up for a followup movie caught me off guard. I gave this movie a 10 because it deserved it anything lower than a seven I would have to ask what movie were you watching. Can't wait to see if we get a follow up until then I'll be giving it another watch. Watch this movie you will not regret it!

Awesome!
11 July 2021
I'm old enough to remember when this festival took place in Harlem I remember this festival was a huge deal in a time when music was tops and you had real talented artist who played and sang from our community. I was overcome watching this documentary given the state of music today in the African America community. But it good to see once again the days when musicians were tops and made an impression on then young musicians like myself and participated in trying to make the world better.

A Refreshing Redemption with Flavor!
10 July 2021
Love it! I knew the new Leverage wouldn't disappoint but what I didn't anticipate was the newness of it all brought on by setting the story/team in New Orleans. The two new characters tops the show off giving the show a nice flavor and back drop. The two new characters are great giving the new home base a nice feel and I love what the creators have done with the show. Already I'm on my second watch....... Love It!
