What can I say. I saw this movie last night on satellite and had been wondering what all the hype was about. I'm still wondering. As in the summary, unlike Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler can read and follow a script. I was pleasantly surprised.

Maybe it's me, but I just don't get it. Unlike others, I found minimal continuity. I don't always treat movies as simple entertainment (among my favourites are Being There and Blade Runner), but I couldn't quite figure out if this was a message movie or what. I've taken film studies in college, and I think this is one of the few movies that really was made with interpretation in mind.

I want to watch it again. Although I didn't enjoy it, I suspect it gets better with time, one of those flicks where the more you watch, the more you get. For the time being it leaves me with more questions than answers, as in what is symbolism and what is just an attempt at entertainment.

I suggest you get this on a rental when you have nothing planned for the weekend and watch it a few times.

One has to wonder why people that pan this show so badly quite clearly keep watching it. My son is 22 months old and I laugh my head off watching this wondering if that is exactly what he is thinking! The writing, to me, is on the level of the old Bob Newhart Show, in that no, it doesn't hit you on the head, you have to pay attention. I'm glad it is back on the air.

This show succeeds at what it attempts: mindless comedy. Perhaps if you are "educated" you consider yourself above the humour, but I enjoy watching it. I can think of worse ways to spend half an hour. The premise is unlikely but entertaining. It's certainly better than those "reality" shows that are reproducing madly! Consider me a fan.

This movie was made for entertainment, and on that level it succeeds. If, however, you wish to see an accurate portrayal of life in NASCAR, don't waste your time. This movie should be sub-titled "The Jeff Gordon Story"... pretty boy comes to NASCAR, lucks into a good team, and convinces himself he is the greatest thing on four wheels, despite his complete lack of understanding of the relationship between car mechanicals and the need for talent. And how a used-car salesman funds a Winston Cup team is completely beyond me.

Tom Cruise is convincing in his driving incompetence. Many wannabe boy racers mimic his activities behind the wheel. Sadly, I don't think he's acting. Definitely one for the ladies while the men go out for a beer.
