Tammy's Always Dying (2019)
a nice, slightly darker, movie
I quite enjoyed the movie even though I usually don't watch movies that go into the darker dramedy spectrum with a lot of cold colors.
But it had an authentic feel to it and the storyline was very well planned and written.
I also liked the way it was shot and directed and while most of the actors gave an amazing performance, I felt like at times you could see Felicity Huffmann acting which is something I personally don't like that much, but other than that I really enjoyed the movie.
Upload (2020)
Greg Daniels did it again - a unique masterpiece
As a self proclaimed binge-watcher of all TV shows and series I watch a looot of series. But there are only a few that are truly unique and great.
Upload by Greg Daniels is definitely my new favorite. He proved his skills before on "The Office" which is one of the biggest and best shows ever. And he did it again.
The casting is on point and the female lead actress really brings something authentic to the character, I first saw her on "Chicago Fire" but here she really shines.
If there will be a second season, which I think is going to happen, I will watch it in an instant but I also hope that they will add more depth to the character "ingrid" as I personally think that the "dumb, mean blonde girlfriend" is a persona that should not exist in TV these days anymore. We can roote for the main character without making other female characters look bad or unlikeable
The Dead Lands (2020)
new, different, twisted and GOOD if you get it
This series is definitely different and requires a dark sense of humor. But if you get it - you'll love it.
Not mainstream and it tries new things!
Either you love or hate it. I love it and the cast is very good, though mainly unknown outside of Australia.
Destination Wedding (2018)
Finally a romantic movie that is NOT a hallmark-disaster
This movie surprised me on all levels, I watched it on valentines day thinking it would be one of those cliche-packed and shallow romantic-comedies like the Hallmark Channel movies. But this is really different.
The realness and how the entire movie is about those 2 people and their conversations about their numbing life and what went wrong is just wonderful.
No awfully forced romance but rather 2 people sharing their pain and finding each other.
They have real issues and no they don't "change" 180 once they met each other like most romantic movies write their characters.
It is complex, real and bittersweet. So yes, I would 10/10 recommend :)
FBI (2018)
Dramatized Reality
I enjoy this show as kind of a side-show, but I would not turn the laptop on just to watch this show.
The action is good and the cases are well written but the episodes are very alike and especially the scenes with Jeremy Sisto are basically the same every episode which is unfortunate. Something happens - Sisto walks to the the big screen, talks and tells everybody to "hurry up" and off they go and search for a suspect. He is never seen in action himself. Just in the FBI office.
There is zero romance, character development or personal drama which for a TV Show is weird. I guess that is the realistic part because in real life these things are not so-present as on TV. But isn't that why we are watch it? Because we wanna see drama, love, development, changes?
The show is good but really don't fall in love with it or any character because they all are kind of stuck in the same episode over and over again. Feels like groundhog day.
68 Whiskey (2020)
Hope it will get better
I was awaiting this because of the actor Derek Theler (he is promoting it heavily on his IG) but the first episode was very disappointing as he is rarely seen and the sexual almost- main focus is kinda bizarre.
Now that I have seen the second episode I found more interest in the other characters but the lead character and his "love interest" are just poorly written and it is very obvious that the cast doesnt really know each other that well.
But I also have hope that it will get better, as the second episode had a kind of promising storyline and was better than the first one.
I like the "Alvarez" Character and hope she is seen more.
