Where am I??? ๐ฎ
After S1E1 (at least most of it):
Is this the same Star Wars universe I've got used to during all these years or are there some places in the same universe who act totally unlike the rest of the people in the films and series over the years? ๐ค๐ค๐ค
I mean, these characters are thorn down to the screen from another English crime series or what ever modern fantasy.
But Star Wars?
Hope this isn't another equivalent to what Discovery did to Star Trek.
Well, Im gonna keep watching in good (somewhat cautious) faith for a while and then we'll see... ๐
Need as if now some 60 more letters to complete this review so I'll just let you know that this post might be a subject for further development ๐

The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Where to begin... Well...
You can read below, or you can just believe me when I say this series is total BS.
But, by all means, continue reading...
Mandalorian was great, of course. Obi Wan Kenobi is/was brilliant! OWK was made as good as the original movies starting with "A New Hope", in my opinion, (as far as you can make a series comparable to 3 x 2 hours of short entertainment). But yes, OWK is a classic already. Mandalorian may become one as well.
The Book of Boba Fett is a disappointment on many levels.
For starters, this show tries to make Boba to something else thas his true nature just is: Boba finds his true meaning and becomes a likable dude in the neighborhood, right? The true psychopath changes his ways and start giving for the people?
Not likely. I was hoping for a story of a man who is likable for his disqualities. This has been done before; Michael Corleone, Tony Stark, Anton Chigurh, Hannibal Lecter etc.
Another disturbing thing is, as mentioned before, by others, Bobas inability to handle the action; he lets others do the job. Not even close to the bad ass character he is supposed to be.
And the scooters... Don't get me even started...
After seeing the third of the latest episode, the episode 5, I was pleasantly reminded how I felt with The Mandalorian, told my wife how ingenious Jon Favreau must be to pull this story off, how the geekines of his is sooo cool, him knowing so much of the SW -universe, not a flaw in sight!
And now this.
Not a stormtrooper in sight on the planet. No Imperial presence what so ever. Err... What?
And how ever "good and kind" Boba's got, he makes a total massacre of the bikers, totally going against of the psychology of his in he story before, the way he is supposedly portrayed, his insights, in the beginning. I mean, is he still the sociopath or did he reverse? Which is it?
And, then of course, his female sidekick... She's all about this "knowing cringe" about nothing. A character who obviously feel nothing, who is supposed to be bad ass, but don't/can't deliver anything but... yeah, said it already: "Knowing bad as cringe" all the effing time. Nothing one could feel for or identify one self with.
Mando was a new character with no past for us before. He probably was an easier character to write on for that very same reason. And it WAS ingenious from Favreau, no question!
It becomes clear, though, with The Book of Boba Fett either he did not have the time needed to write Boba "right" or he wants to make his childhood hero likable the way he always wanted him to be. Or something else.
But this doesn't work, this isn't Boba Fett, as little as "Star Trek: Discovery" is Star Trek.
Btw, What comes to the soundtrack, The Mandalorian was something new and exiting. This try is too much something else than Star Wars. With the chanting this soundtrack could place itself better in a Viking saga or an adventure in the wilderness with Bear Grills, but not in a Space Epic where you travel between galaxies and fight against tie fighters, just saying... :-)
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
About a dog...
This first part is about the first season. Please do scroll down to see what I have to say about the second season. It might be worth it if you're a Trekker โ๐ป
So, what can I say... than right down wonderfull! The first episode hints a promise of this being the first series since The Voyager worth the legacy of Gene Roddenberrys creation: The Star Trek -saga.
After the first season of Discovery, I honestly thought this is the end of it. We are never going to be able to go back ro our innocense after the travesty of Discovery showing it's ugly balls and cnt. I never saw the rest of the series and I still can't comprehend why the show wasn't cancelled after the five first episodes, if not for the money spent and the money earned. Star Trek it was not; it had the name, it had some of the looks, but it was a totally different reality with a cheap Star Trek -skin on it. I could puke for less...
But this review is not about a massive failure. This review is about "a new hope" ("pun" intended). It's about the true love for SF that brings the positive aspect of hope for our future to our fingertips, almost physically touchable, just as Roddenberry would have wished and wanted.
The first episode of Picard brings us back to what really matters in life; careing for one another, without prejudice, letting all people be themselves with their believes and minorities and what have you, as long as they don't harm each other.
Make no mistake, this is a new, darker take on TNG -continiuum. But it's beautifully placed for the time and space we live in right now, with the righteous Roddenberryan mindset sizzleing through around every corner.
Then again, it wasn't perfect. Had "The Number One" been The Siberian Husky or a St. Bernard, instead of a fight dog, I'd given this 10/10. You just can't have it all, can you...
I recommend this from all my heart and sense to all of you true Trekkies and Trekkers out there! The "force" of G. R. has returned ;)
P. S. Maybe they made Discovery so bad to ultimately promote this??? Well, it's working and it's beyond!!! (At least after seeing the first episode of Picard.)
P. P. S. After seeing the whole first season... Ihave to take back much of what I wrote above.
So, read on. It's probably worth it....
Edit after seeing the first season and now into S2E6:
The first season turned out to be too dystopian for me as a Trekker. It just went from darkness to darkness after the first episode. It wnt from "promising" into "Discovery", if you know what I mean...
Now, watching S2E3, it's kinda lightening up!: The goodies ARE goodies without some silly backwards plot you can't trust on, and they ARE for real fighting the baddies.
And that is the new "new" after Discovery -BS.
Sure, there's still this dystopian darkness, but when the good guys gather around to make it right...
There's the distinction of love that surrounded the series from the beginning, in the 60's, something you, as a Trekkie, can look forward to, the hope for better tomorrow where we MAYBE, and just maybe, can live together as a one human race on earth, and as several races when aliens are included.
Since, when it comes to racism, there is a common consensus between scientist: human race is a race of it's own separated from other living species on earth; therefore the idea of racism is something of a human innovation, and in it self not true at all.
Well, well, the rant (true blue though), but if the second season keeps developing as it has so far... Imma give the series one more star, makiong it 8 all and all, as I took two of them stars away after seeing the entire first season.
Star Trek is supposed to be somewhat naive giving us hope for the better future. Period.
