Doctor Who: The Giggle (2023)
Season Unknown, Episode Unknown
9/10
Amazing episode with a mixed ending.
9 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I really liked this episode and the first 40 minutes. The pacing was great and it was scary Doctor who once again. I actually feared for the Doctor and Mel's return was a nice surprise. The dance scene was great and showed the Toymakers strength. That's the reason why its 9/10 and not lower.

I didn't really liked the concept of the bi-regeneration initially, but after rewatching the last 20 minutes I'm ok with it since Ncuti says: "I'm fine because you fixed yourself" meaning Tennant will hopefully regenerate into Ncuti and get back sent in time to bi-regenerate. Ncuti also had clothes on and wasn't naked, another indicator for that.

The defeat of the Toymaker was rushed in my opinion. Yes, he follows rules, and yes, it's a great game, but it was just a short montage, and he was defeated. I would have wished a longer scene before he doesn't catch the ball.

Had fun watching it

First of all, I didn't know this was an anime adaptation, I saw this movie on Netflix and the title card look interesting to me so I watched it.

There is a plot, but they don't really do anything with it, but I didn't expect this after watching the first 10 minutes, and that's ok. That movie wasn't made to have the greatest story.

Action was Ok. The camera was kind of shaky in the action sequences and cut away from the hits.

The animation was in some scenes very bad but in other great. I watched this movie on my 23 inch monitor so its harder to notice bad animation.

The child actors were horrible. The adult actors were ok in most scenes but they butchered some. Nobody really stood out, but again it's an action movie where I don't need great acting.

I wouldn't say it's a boring movie, I was entertained, and that was the point of this movie, hence it gets 7/10.

A rushed portrayal of history
26 April 2023
I've never watched the TV Show nor read the books. I thought the movie was very fast and didn't give its characters enough time to develop. I didn't know that there was a whole TV-Show before this movie, I just watched it because I liked the premise.

The camera was decent, some interesting compositions, but most shots were badly executed copies of better movies. There was a lot left out that probably was going to be added, but left out.

Acting was good as far as I can tell. I believed most of the characters to be early inhabitants of Britain. I'm not a language expert, but the accents felt a bit off. I know that English changed a lot over the past hundreds of years, but you could've at least given them local accents. I didn't feel like it covered all Britain but only a small part. Part of that is also the lack of time, it felt like everything happened at once. They skipped many days but it seemed it took them only a couple of hours to get from one place to another.

The movie didn't feel that long, I was entertained. The first 1/3 was very predictable and didn't give proper time to introduce the characters. I'm aware that there's a TV-Show and book behind this movie but they should've given the viewers some more information regarding the characters.

The whole movie feels like it wants to be a Braveheart but fails to give us the characters and the chance to root for the characters we meet. I had no connection to any of these characters. If you make a movie after a TV-Show, one of your goals should be to get the viewer to watch the TV-Show afterwards. Sadly they didn't catch me.

I watched this Movie because I thought,´is going to be fun and while watching I had a little bit of fun. The Acting was overall Bad but had some good moments. The Story isn´t too complex, which isn´t a problem for this kind of movie, but it felt so rushed and it wanted to have a lot of Problems. The story of the father was actually quiet surprising and I really like Felix and the girlfriend.

You can tell, that it was produced during Covid by the amount of locations and that some random Dude in the Bar Scene wore a Mask and was kind of out of place.

It´s not a movie for children but rather for Teens.

Better then I expected

It´s the first movie of this kind I watched and I thought it would be bad. But it hooked me up and felt sometimes hate but also relieved when someone dies who I don´t like. I thought it was going to be trash but in the end it was great. I had a few good Arguments which was entertaining and one could learn from this in some sort of way. 8 Stars because it surprised me and hooked me up.
