The Boarder (2012)
Good movie despite being low budget
The acting isn't great. The picture isn't great. But the story is. The story is also very accurate until the end. As someone who is a parent to a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder, this is very realistic. These children can be extremely troubled and this accurately portrays that. They also primarily target their adopted/foster/step mother figure. They will seem overly charming and sweet to everyone else. They will attack animals or other children. I've experienced this first-hand. The biggest issue with this story is the ending. In reality, most of us with RAD kids never get the help we need. Our children either end up hospitalized permanently or end up in the jail system at some point. Most of us just try to survive them until they are 18 and legally on their own. That's the sad reality of the mental health and foster care systems.
