Life After the Navigator (2020)
A love letter to this 80's classic
I loved Life After Flash the first in i think this series, as it was so much more than either a making off or a where are they now?
Herethe story of Joey Cramer and his rise to fame and then catastrophic decent into drug addiction and crime...and his rise again is beautifully handled. Joey laid himself bare in this film and clearly there was mutual respect between filmmaker and subject. I even had to stifle the odd tear.
I hear rumours of a Life After Never ending Story next and i will be there to enjoy this one and any more in the series too.
Well done for making this so much more than TV fodder!
New Kids on the Blockchain (2020)
An entertaining look at the Crypto bubble
I really enjoyed this documentary as I, too, got carried away with Bitcoin crypto and thought it would be the answer to all of our problems , but all it left me was broke and despondent.
It kept me entertained and even taught me a few things along the way. Not sure about including John McAfee though as he was the biggest scammer in the space , but maybe that was the point. Worth a watch.
Life After Flash (2017)
a great spin on making of docs that are coming out
There are so many "making of" docs that are coming out in recent years, and life after flash was to be honest a breathe of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, I love a good anecdote and behind the scene fun fact, learning how these classic films came about, but life after flash takes it one step further and actually gives you interviews with Same family and friends, and really goes deep into his personal life. You even see interviews with his kids.
It's funny (Rich Fulcher is brilliant), sad (my wife cried), and a great trip back through memory lane of THE greatest science fiction film of all time
A took off a point because Ornella Muti is sadly nowhere to be seen, otherwise it was a solid 10/10 from me, a must for any Flash Gordon fan.
By Light of Desert Night (2019)
Low budget but... actually Ok
Boy what a struggle. This falls just slightly short of really good for me. I was into the characters and performances but would have just liked to see a bit more from the supporting characters as well. I felt like there was more to be learned about them. Overall though a good effort.
