Curse of the Ancients with Alice Roberts (2022)
Good doku.
In this exciting five-part history series, 'Curse of the Ancients' Professor Alice Roberts reveals how scientists are unearthing the evidence for cataclysmic events in the past and their disastrous consequences. From wars to earthquakes and floods to famines - these are the events that have helped shape our modern world. In each episode, Alice takes viewers on a journey across Europe and North Africa to discover epic sites and landmarks - fabulous cities abandoned, battlefields long forgotten and sophisticated civilisations toppled and lost to the mists of time. To our ancient ancestors, suffering these catastrophic events, it must have seemed they were cursed but science is now exploding those myths and re-writing history.

Garbaaage
I couldn't say it better, so I borrowed this. I'm beyond baffled to see critics loving this. It was sooo painful to get through this bloated thing. So many scenes of what the apartment looked like it felt like a real estate tour. The camera would pan around at a snail's pace seemingly just to make this content to be movie-length. Like trying to expand 3 sentences into a 5 paragraph essay in school on the most boring topic. This could have been a 20 min student film. The end was so cringey. The camera again just scanned the empty apartment like it was trying to sell us the place. It was a really awesome apartment, so i didn't mind looking around but i was trying to watch a movie not a YouTube vlog.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Ugh
Cheesefest. Typical for the director...megadumb hightest explosions, fights, and cliffhangers sprinkled with lame humor. Give this dreck a wide berth.
But wait...it does have all new aliens with human bodies and new facebumbs. Derrrrrp.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Braindead garbage
I couldn't say it better, so I stole this text: Shallow romance, shallow character work, extremely predictable, how did Tom Cruise even survive at the start, literally no stakes, mission is extremely vague, no one in the film has any understanding of planes and this is coming from an actual pilot. I hate this movie and everyone who liked it.
John Wick (2014)
Meh
Rather hollow, ultimately The bits of black comedy made me laff a few times, but the whole thing was pretty dumb and contrived and very unrealistic. My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it. 150?
The Grey (2011)
Dumb movie and the depiction of wolves is just rotten
The filmmakers did a huge disservice by utterly falsely depicting wolves as vicious man-eaters. Anyone with half a brain knows that wolves generally avoid humans like the plague. Shameful.
And pretty much everything else is pretty unrealistic. Just one example: dude gets soaked to the skin in arctic temperatures, and merrily walks on his way like his clothes aren't literally freezing solid on his back. Duh. Not even shivering, haha.
Annihilation (2018)
Tepid, poorly written bit of a mess
Thought it could be a cool scifi flick, but it's really bad, honestly.
I won't even bother trying to tell you how bad, but let my 3 stars we a warning not to waste your time.
Cheese fest going on here.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
Fantastic!
I had never even heard of this film, til I saw it in a list of underrated films and took a look. I totally love it!
It's hilarious. Very well written, understated while being totally out loud, with a heart. Just funny and fun as heck.
One of my all time favorites, in an instant. :)
The Tomorrow War (2021)
So lame, I literally forgot I had watched it.
I saw this, looked cool, went to IMDB for a read, and realized I had already watched it, and literally forgotten it completely. That is the hallmark of a forgettable film.
I am eagerly awaiting THE FOREVER WAR, and if they do the fantastic book any justice (just leave out the weird-ass sex change nonsense), it is going to mind mindblowing! :)
Dicing with Death (2018)
Fantastic
Really interesting window into how people in poor parts of the world struggle. Focuses on road journeys, but meanders all over the place, exploring everyday people's lives on many fronts.
Spoiled westerners need to watch this and get a clue how lucky they are.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Crap
Empty, shallow, stupid. Who writes this crap? Just a big cash grab. Two dimensional characters, fake emotions, plot holes to drive ships through. I felt sick for watching this.
Passengers (2016)
Great premise deftly murdered with hollywood cheese.
I would love to see this remade by an intelligent and talented writer.
Decent beginning, with a good idea, but the cheesy corporate, iphone setting, gigantic plot holes, lame writing and terribly cheesy, contrived, sappy last 1/3-1/2 totally destroyed it.
Barely worth a watch.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Meh
Pretty stale, all in all. A pretty dull main character, nothing particularly interesting, funny, thrilling, or thought-provoking going on here.
And to top it off, and the nail in the coffin (watched about half the first series then quit), the music was glaringly bad. Normally I don't really notice any but the best movie music, but this stuff is just horrible. Who the hell hired this idiot, and who told him/her he was a musician?
Men in Black (1997)
Unfunny rubbish
So after so many years, finally got around to watching this, and my suspicions about it were 100% confirmed. It's just a shallow piece of trash movie making.
Lame jokes, utterly predictable, unfunny, shallow and totally uninspired.
This is the film equivalent of mcdonalds. Some people find it tasty and buy it up. People with brains, self-respect, and healthy appetites wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
When friends recommend fluff like this, I really lose a lot of respect for their intelligence. A penpal o mine liked all of them; I can only imagine how much worse the sequels are.
