The Handmaid's Tale: The Crossing (2021)
Season 4, Episode 3
2/10
This episode...what just happened?
21 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I'm a huge fan of Handmaid's Tale, but this episode just ruined it for me. Season 1-3 were amazing, and the beginning of this season is meh, but this episode just pissed me off. As other reviews have mentioned, a lot of the stuff that happened just didnt make sense.

First, the fact that the handmaids cant take care of themselves w/out June. Srsly, the ONE time June leaves and suddenly Gilead officers (or whatever) finds them?

Second, so they go through the whole processes of torturing June (even though if it was anyone else, they would've automatically killed them). Srsly, June is supposed to be like public enemy #1, but they torture her to reveal the location of the other handmaids plus pushing and wasting 2 other ones off the building. Furthermore, after June reveals the location she THEN wants to die?! Wait? WHAT? You literally just betrayed the other handmaids (which I get it, they threatened her daughter), and now you want them to kill you? If death was a solution, why didnt you jump off the bldg? Why do others have to fall with you?

Third, and I know a lot of other people have mentioned something about this, the lack of security traveling with the "dangerous" handmaids tale. Srsly, aunt lidia and her one stick with the one guard driving in the front? You would expect more people to be traveling and not make it so easy.

Fourth, get Nick out of here! I'm sorry to all nick lovers out there, but I cant stand him! I didnt even like him previous seasons? What is this "love" june feels for this traitor?! He became a commander so fast, idk how though. Also, he kept talking to june like I'm trying to keep you alive, but surrender the other handmaids. Well guess what, sure you kept her alive, but only to be a slave again...IN ADDITION to being sent to a breeding farm! Yeah, he sure sounds like a prince charming.

Lastly, the last scene...which infuriated me. The whole slow mo running to beat the train? And only to kill all but 2 of them? 1 gets shot, and 2 of them (one of them being Alma, who was one of my favorites) get run over by a train?! Come on! What a garbage way to kill these women! Also, did the security guy take the keys to the van? I swear the van was still running. Why didnt they just shock the stupid aunt lidia and take off with the van?! Wouldve been smarter then running to beat a train! At least they all wouldve been alive.

Anyways, this episode was just a failure. I love this show and I will continue to watch it, and hopefully things get back to being good.

Something new, but questionable...
11 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are a lot of James Wan films that I enjoy, esp bc of his style, so I was excited to see this one. However, this film had me questioning whether I liked it or didn't like it. It's almost like the IT Part 1 and 2, part 1 being absolutely amazing, and 2 being absolutely horrible.

A 5 star is me being generous. If I was rating the acting, I'd give it a 1/10. If I was rating on horror a 2/10 (mainly the music creeps me out). The ratings that scored higher for me was mainly on the story and entertainment, which I would give 5/10. I'm pretty good at predicting twists, and this movie is pretty predictable. I assumed some evil twin was involved, I even joked with my husband that it would be funny, but cool, if the evil twin was at the back of her head like Lord Voldemort...which basically happened.

I was actually happy that this wasn't an evil spirit/demon/ghost type of movie for once...yes, gabriel was evil, but he was "human" in a way. Idk, it was something new, something that I haven't seen before or at least in a really long time. It was entertaining watching the action, and there actually was a part near the end where I was surprised involving the sister. I was very nervous about the film seeing how bad the acting was in the beginning, and how rushed everything felt, but it picked up in the end. People are going to like this movie questionably or hate it.

Blood Red Sky (2021)

Started off good....
28 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie started off really good, but things kind of got wonky after the mother transformed. It wasn't terrible, but it just looked like a lot of bad choices and weird mishaps. First, I thought the kid was going to frustrate me, mainly bc he just started running to get to safety, but in the end just got his mother shot. However, throughout the movie he turns out to be a hero. Next, that one rich, selfish dude that ended up getting internal bleeding...glad he died. He's the main reason why everyone died. I liked how everyone had a system going and were actually doing well, but the ....rich, selfish dude happened. Another issue, how is it that blowing a small window causes all that suction, but when the cargo door got blown up no one got suctioned out? The mom had to push the one evil vampire out, but she or the boy didnt go flying out. Also, how did the vampires happen? Did I miss something? During the flashback, the mother decides to take her son to find help bc of the cold, runs into blood and thought, "Hey, let's follow the blood! It could be my husbands!" Ummm, you're willing to put your infant son in danger? Sure, let's go follow the blood that leads down some basement/cellar of an abandon house. How about go get help first, and have the authorities check it out. Then a vampire comes out of nowhere? Did I miss something? In the end, the military decides to wait all that time (until nightfall) to actually take action, and of course the vampires attacked. Luckily, that kid blew the plane up before things got bad on land. Idk, a few inconsistencies with this movie, but it was still entertaining to watch.

Jane the Virgin (2014–2019)

Last 2 seasons ruined it for me
21 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
My sister encouraged me to watch this show, and so I gave it shot. The first 3 seasons were great, but the last 2, completely disappointed. Obviously, there's the whole drama on who Jane should end up with. When they "killed" off michael in season 3, I remember being devastated and depressed for like a week. His death completely caught me off guard, and let's just say I have NEVER cried over a character's death like this one, so that's saying a lot. After some time, I accepted his death and continued to watch the show, and during season 4 I actually started warming up to Rafael. However, here is where the writer's messed up...they brought Michael back from the dead. I've joked about him coming back before, but for it to actually happen? One would say, I shouldve been excited...nope...I was angry bc I knew EXACTLY what the writers were going to do. They were going to make Jane pick Rafael and dump Michael off to the side as if he was nothing to Jane. I actually preferred michael dying and Jane remembering him as the love of her life and a kind, wonderful man. Even during his amnesia, he fell in love with Jane all over again, and that moment when michael remembered everything.... I cried. Then, there's Rafael...I warmed up to him in season 4, but that was it. Overall, his character was annoying, selfish, manipulative, and when he kept pushing jane to divorce Michael RIGHT AFTER she found out he was alive?! Oof. Then, he later on reveals to jane that he doesn't want to have more kids, even though he knows that jane wanted more kids. But since he's mr. Hotshot with abs, rich, and Jane's baby daddy, writers still put them together. It was completely unrealistic, and putting a bad image on what marriage should be like. In addition, when they wrote michael off the last season, I was angry (they didn't even have him in the finale). Wouldve given this show an 8, but the last 2 seasons were bad and beyond cheesy with that wedding. Dont get me wrong, it's a cute show, but went downhill after season 3.

Probably one of my least favorite Pixar movies
18 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Giving this movie a 5 star rating is me being nice. It wasn't a terrible movie, but it certainly didn't match up to other Pixar films and their execution. As other reviews have mentioned, there are bold colors utilized, and some visuals of the village are beautiful, but that's all what this movie has going for it. It was a very simple movie with no plot, and it's kind of scattered. I knew the moment Alberto spoke about his father that he was actually abandoned (bc that's how most of these movies go). I don't know, the movie didn't even feel emotional, and just fell kind of flat. The ending especially was very abrupt, and was definitely rushed (so everyone discovers that they boys are sea monsters, but it's perfectly fine bc they won a race? Okaaaaaaay?) This movie doesn't deserve a 1 star, but definitely not a high rating. Anyways, definitely one of my least favorite Pixar films (and I've loved/enjoyed about 95% of them).

Not too bad...main character ruined it for me
24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen the older movies of Mortal Kombat, and as cheesy and bad CGI as it was, the fights/tournaments, music, and plots were great. I was excited to see this new movie, and it wasn't that bad, but was still left unsatisfied. I was surprised that I fell in love with Kano; he was charming, hilarious, and prob the best character. Following him, I enjoyed SubZero and his fight scenes. Sonya Blade wasn't too bad too. One character that i had no interest in was the main guy, Cole. He was just boring and unnecessary. Even his "power" was....blah. I wish they had Liu Kang as the main guy, his story is more interesting. Another disappointment in this was the lack of tournaments in this movie, that was supposed to be the main plot of the whole movie. In addition, they did Goro dirty in this. His fight scene was short and missed the mark, and even though he was the big villain in the first movie, they showed him for less than 5 minutes in this one. Hopefully they bring him back somehow for a better fight in the 2nd movie. If they do, I'm excited to see my boy Johnny Cage!
