Voyagers (2021)
8/10
Well worth watching...and NO, IT'S NOTHING TO DO WITH LORD OF THE FLIES!!!
31 May 2021
Okay first of all comparing Voyagers to the plot from Lord Of The Flies would be as thoughtless as comparing The Fast And The Furious to Gone In 60 Seconds. Similar plot, totally different movies. Seems most of the reviewers mentioning this can't see the dissimilarities unfortunately.

This was actually quite a decent movie. Sure there are a few plot flaws. But other than that it was quite enjoyable. Just enjoy it as a sci fi movie. Not an exact replication of a proper manned space flight. Geesus lmao. Some ppl.

I'd give it 7 stars plus an extra star for all the pointless "Lord Of The Flies" crappy review mentions.

Mortal (2020)
10/10
Waiting with anticipation for Mortal 2 (fingers crossed
29 May 2021
Wow. A rare treat lately to be able to be engrossed in a film with such a well thought out script/plot.

Definitely a slow burner until it's finale. Well worth the wait, take my word.

Without giving too much away, please don't even remotely try to compare this to the "marvel" series. Mortal is designed around being more a dark/good movie, in the same context as Brightburn (if you haven't seen that watch it too).

Ppl rating this under 7 or 8 stars clearly don't understand this type of production and should probably stick to the mass produced (AND massively expensive to produce) "same old" scripts, around the likes of Ironman, The Hulk, Wonder Woman, DC/Marvel etc etc. Those movies are okay and fun to watch, but aren't in the same league as Mortal (or Brightburn).

Eagerly awaiting a sequel to Mortal (2)......

Beautiful scenic shots. But B grade movie if that...
6 June 2020
Firstly, the scenic shots are truly beautiful basing it on they aren't all CGI. It's downhill from there unfortunately.

Sorry for being harsh, but...The script is basic, mostly uneventful and rather poorly written. Accents from American to English was rather confusing!

The actors are for the part pretty average (even the well know ones that should probably know better), but this probably had more to do with the poor script and directing (possibly).

The main characters mother seems to have had one hell of a facelift with plastic surgery. Was rather off putting seeing the 13th century setting and a woman that I'm sorry to say in some scenes looked like The Joker without makeup. Why ppl continue to do this to themselves and not see how bad/unnatural it looks is beyond me. But hey, it's not my face so. Just the wrong choice for this type of movie.

In conclusion, this would best suit you if you've either A: Got nothing else to watch on a Saturday night (like me) or B: Got nothing else to watch on a Saturday night...

Dark Crimes (2006)
1/10
I'm still confused...
28 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was actually going to turn this movie off in the first 10mins due to the darkness, lack of a plot and already poor acting. Jim Carrey has really let himself down with this B (if that) rated tragedy of a film.

*Spoiler Alert*

Basically the movie starts with dark scenes in a "hotel" with various shady characters leading women into dungeon like rooms whilst screaming and moaning sounds are audible.

Jim Carrey plays a disgraced police officer/detective trying to solve who killed his partner or fellow officer/detective. I'd be more specific but I'd totally lost interest after 10mins but thought the slow drawn out start would eventually get better...i was wrong!

I'm not going to waste time going through the rest of the plot as it's not only confusing and all over the place, it's also confusing/pointless.

The ending has you scratch your head as you find out Jim Carreys character has not only charged the wrong person with his partners murder and had been set up by a scheming now promoted chief of police that set him up to screw up the case. But then ends up finding his mother dead because he "forgot" to visit her after promising her he'd never leave her alone. Goes home to find his wife and daughter have left him and then (Carrey) gets drugged and killed by the prostitute lover (Carrey screws in one scene btw) of the man he wrongly charged (that confessed to the murder of his (Carreys) partner) whilst she explains that she was the one that actually killed him (confused yet or what). Carrey dies. The end...Wtf did i watch!!! How this has a current 7.6 rating is beyond me.
