Real Housewives of the 30's: Ultimate Chick Flick

A must view for every fabulous woman.

Love the technicolor fashion show, the cat fights, the glamour, the delivery of the funny lines.

Every character different and unique.

Sweet moments with the daughter.

And of course, not a man in sight!

Glad I've got this one on the DVR for all the re watches I want!

Would be a great introductory film for those getting into classics.

Oh and a definite must see for Crawford fans. She's so good when she's bad! A but of a Mommie Dearest preview in the bathtub scene... sorry Joan. (Also reminiscent of RHOSLC's Mrs. Marks, ha!)

What splendid talent from every single woman!

The Con is On (2018)

Sometimes when i'm looking for a movie i think go through the list in my head of what i like and what i don't like and every time i think about movies that i thought sucked , i always think of The Con is On.

Even the title sucks- should be a tagline! Been years since i watched it but it sticks in my head as just a lazy, lame movie.

Now i need to fill the character requirement, uh, just trust the top reviews ok? Sometimes i like a crappy movie not gonna lie. Like tv movies or direct-to-video i always give them a chance and this isn't even one that's 'so bad it's funny' because then i might have enjoyed a little. It's just a waste of everyone's time.

You've heard of biddy horror, now get ready for...
1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
...Tiddy... horror...?

This movie did scare me, but after a day or so of thinking about it, I had more questions than answers. It was quite long. It kept you guessing. A lot of tropes were used and it felt like when writing the film they went down the list of "Ok what do people find scary..." basement? Check! The dark? Check! Abduction? Check! Breastfeeding? Chec- wait, huh?

I just have so many questions that I don't think I'll get the answer to. So with that I tried to just suspend disbelief and get scared and like I said, I did find it scary.

I thought the acting was good. I would suggest not to think too much during this film.

The Doors (1991)

Please Note: LOTS of flashing lights in this film!!
13 August 2022
Didn't comb through all the reviews but I think it should be more widely known ahead of time if you plan to watch this movie there are a lot of flashing lights and may affect some people who are sensitive to that. Don't want you to have any unpleasant surprises!

Ok so the movie itself: i love the music of the Doors, and i had heard Val Kilmer's performance / resemblance as Mr. Mojo Risin was uncanny- and it totally was! It was a treat for a young person like me to feel like i am seeing the real deal. Not just Jim, but their entire band, crew, audience, felt really real.

I have to admit, going into this movie about psychedelic/ acid rock... i don't think i was prepared for how trippy it was. I'm so glad I didn't smoke or edible before watching this, haha. Lots of moments I felt really anxious and worried about Jim and those around him.

Maybe it depends on the setting in which you watch this. I was in my bedroom alone in the dark so i thought the lights were intense and, well, the film itself was more intense than I had expected. But I mean that in a way where I felt moved by it after it was over. It had me thinking about The Doors fame, not as stories I read online or in books, but as it happened in real time back then. Funny how it felt so REAL but also like a TRIP all at once.

I'm glad i finally watched it. RIP to Jim and Ray.

Warning: Spoilers
I just realized the two guys that the main character talks to through most of the movie's names are Ted and Fred lmfao, i love it. I couldn't stop laughing when she was telling fred to go home, i'm sorry!

More (1969)

memorable for me
15 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's been a while since i've seen this movie, i've only seen it once but i do think about it often. While watching, i was expecting a lot of trippy scenes with campy effects and everything so i was surprised (disappointed at the time) that it was kind of just, quiet. I stuck it out and watched the whole movie of course and afterwards i didn't think much of it except **spoiler*** i thought the end was really really sad. But yeah later on, maybe weeks, or months, i kept thinking about it, it was raw and real. I mean i'd watch it again after enough time goes by for me to forget about it maybe ? But i would say it's probably one of those movies you only have to see one time if you do watch it.

I didn't hate it
30 March 2021
I admit it, i love a cheesy 'safe' kind of movie now and then. First of all, i was surprised by the swearing but i was here for it! The friend Kal was really funny. The leading man was kind of a stick in the mud but we can't all be comedians i guess. I thought they had spent a little too much time in the lab working on the project and would've liked to see more romance or more of him being in 2008, but i also feel like if they had rushed through the working part then people(me) would've complained that it was just too easy. Haha maybe i'm putting too much thought into it. Anyways spoiler, it didn't end the way i thought it would, and i thought after the last line it cut way too soon. But it was a cute movie to just have on while i'm winding down in bed trying to chill. I wouldn't hate it if prime video suggested more like this 🤔 just chill little movies on the low budget side to relax to. Haha.

Decent story but the acting and the characters made it unbelievable and there were a few things that just didn't make sense

Wow
31 July 2020
I heard the Gene Pitney song on the oldies station which led to me to the movie and WOW. I couldn't watch it all in one evening but I could NOT wait to pick up where I left off! I'm so upset it's removed from prime video because i could watch it again and again. The characters, the story, the acting and the sets are classic and great! I would not change one thing. It is timeless and a great story of courage/heroism, nobility, and decision making. Trust me- even if you're not really into the Western genre you'll want to see this.

over it

I probably enjoyed this when it came out in '03 when i was a kid, but 17 years later as an adult someone had this on as background noise and i had to change it. personally i thought it was so gross how they had the woman go in the boys locker room and all those other innuendos, for a kid's movie i just felt icky. lot of folks seemed to enjoy that but... not me. i don't know what else happens because i turned it off, and now i'm happily relieved it is off my screen. stereotypical young teenage boys movie

Like other reviews, i was ready to laugh out loud but it just didn't happen for me! it's pretty easy to make me laugh, and i love Chevy Chase in the Vacation movies. but this one for me personally didn't do it. i could barely force out a sympathy chuckle. maybe it was the gopher

glued to the screen
7 April 2020
I went into this blind, not knowing who fanny brice was or even that it was a musical. i'm so glad i randomly decided to put this on, i was in love by the 10 minute mark. as a goofy girl myself i felt streisand was very relatable when she (fanny) was starting out. i love that she never lost her charm. the colors, art direction and wardrobe should never go unappreciated, it is a delight to even look at from start to finish. then the music! what a powerful performance of 'my man' at the end. i turned it back to watch it once more. captivating movie musical, a treat for the eyes and ears.

7 April 2020
Looking back, ok, yes it was exploitative and sensationalist. but damn the job they did at making jaws drop everywhere. took me 2 or 3 to days to watch it all and the first night i had weird dreams lol. one of those things you watch and can't get out of your mind after. looking forward to all the joe exotic halloween costumes this year 🤣 seriously some crazy sht. a fantastic escape from the news and pandemic craziness.

already forgot how it ends
7 April 2020
If you watch this, use the first 10 minutes or so to use the bathroom, get a snack or drink etc. you won't miss much, the bedtime story scene makes sense for the story but goes on way too long for anyone to care. a few suspenseful moments here and there but nothing that really woke us up. somehow thought provoking yet still forgetful the next day.
