Typical Subash Ghai Movie
24 January 2005
Kisna is an interesting movie, complete with great acting, story, songs and action. It is a typical Subash Ghai movie- A love story set against the backdrop of a chase. The story is set in 1930s and 1940s. It is about the family of a British Governor of an Indian province . He is non tolerant towards Indians, but his wife and daughter love India and it's people. The daughter makes best friends with the house hold servants son, and in later years this blossoms into love.Typical problems of pre independence India follow(Frowned upon by all parties concerned-The British, The Indian Royalty, The Families and the Villagers). There is the usual Indian masala of love triangles, action, chase, family drama etc. I would recommend anyone to see this movie ,if not for anything else than the acting of Antonia Bernath and the great songs.

It is not a great movie, but it keeps you engrossed through out.

Superb Comedy
4 January 2004
When I went to watch the movie I was not so sure on how well the director could handle a comedy ( He is not exactly known for that!), BUT 10 minutes into the show and all my doubts were dispelled! This is a superb comedy, and you should watch it for Arshad Warsi's acting, if not anything else. 8/10

LOC: Kargil (2003)
Boring, Repetitive....
4 January 2004
There were high expectations from this movie. The director had supposedly spent many years researching everything, but the end product did not really show that! Made as a true story about the Kargil war, the movie had its high points: Manoj Bajpai and Ashutosh Rana's acting,PuruRaj Kumar's role as a Gurkha officer, usage of actual Arty guns etc instead of the usual bad special effects. But that was about it!The action scenes were very very repetitive, the movie was shot in sub zero temperatures but it never came through while viewing, the terrain was supposed to look hostile, it looked anything but. Scenes about personal lived of the soldiers were also similarly repetitive and boring Overall if this 4 hour movie can be edited down to no more than 2 hours, it may became a worth watch! 4/10

Fast Paced Thriller
4 January 2004
Paycheck is a very well made thriller. Keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. Takes some time to understand what is happening, but once you get past that stage you appreciate the excellent script and the slick direction. The only down point was that the ending scenes could have been slightly shorter. 8/10

Enjoyable light comedy
8 July 2003
The movie is about two guys (and later three) who are major RD Burman fans, and musicians themselves. The story is about how they keep on trying to win a particular music festival over the years, and in the background their changing lives.

The movie is unlike any other Bollywood movie I have seen. If I am forced to compare with another movie, then the closest would be Dil Chahta hai. Jhankar beats is a light, amazingly well edited and directed movie. A must see.

Boring and Routine
17 February 2003
The movie had been touted as one of those art movies, which has a real look at life and relationships etc etc. Sadly this movie does none of the above. It is just a lot of sex scenes(Those too were not well done), boring dialogues and very predictable story line. The only good part is the acting, which is really good. But then actors cant do much with a lousy script. Avoid as far as possible!

A refreshing blend of East and West Cinema
10 November 2002
The Guru is a refreshing blend of east and west cinema. The story line is not so unique, and is basically about an Indian man going to US to make it big in Hollywood, and how his life unfolds there... . What is unique is the way the plot blends the song and dance sequences of Indian movies with the slick pace of Hollywood movies. The product is a light hearted movie which will at least lead to you smiling though out the movie and laughing hysterically at a few occasions. Jimmy Mistry has done the job amazingly well and Heather Graham looks good as an intelligent porn film star.
