Brigadoon (1966)
1966 Brigadoon Clip on YOUTUBE
Having missed the original television presentations, have long wanted to see this production, knowing the strength of the Goulet and Howes talents. (In the movie, Hollywood did a terrible job with the music!) Finally, a clip is available on YOUTUBE.COM of the full "Heather On The Hill" with Goulet and Howes. It is a delight -- but a fair warning: it whets your appetite for more which, sadly, is not available. But check it out and enjoy....... Goulet's and Howes' voices are certainly in their prime, and this particular number appears to be shot on location -- wonderful vistas combine with perhaps the most beautiful piece in the Brigadoon score.
Caged (1950)
Most disturbing film I had ever seen by 1951!
For the past 54 years, I have wondered what ever happened to this film. I saw it only once at age 11, and never forgot the fear it instilled in me. I can't add to comments below -- it was a searing experience and deserves to be distributed, preserved and made available on DVD. If you have the opportunity, run, don't walk, to see it.
Eleanor Parker, almost unknown prior to this film, provides a riveting performance as a sympathetic young woman imprisoned and subjected to the horrors of incarceration. Hope Emerson is truly unforgettable as the evil matron. Both performances, in vastly different ways, spectacular. This film cannot be forgotten, even if you try.
