Tumbledown (2015)
Could've Been a Conteder
This movie had all the ingredients for a excellent film - even with Ted Lasso playing the part of Andrew. But things went South quickly. Hannah, obsessed and grieving for her deceased husband , Hunter, never the less finds it perfectly normal to shag the local stud, beefy linesman, Curtis.
Later, at a funeral service, a car is blocking Hannah's exit to go chase after Andrew. Instead of asking who the driver of that car is, Hannah grabs the boy toy who earlier hit on her, and hitches a ride on his ATV. It gets slapstick after that. Totally silly and a far cry from the first half of the movie.
Rebecca Hall is very watchable as always. Blythe Danner does an admirable job as her mother, even though her " only living for you to have grandchildren " comment is shallow and outdated.
Watch this if you like Jason Sudeikis or Rebecca Hall but as for the story, it falls well below average standards.
Licorice Pizza (2021)
Borring and not credible.
This film must definitely have been bankrolled by Big Tobacco.
Smoking going on in almost every screen shot.
Character development was weak. Plot credibility was weak as well.
Who believes in a 25 year old women hooking up with a 15 year old ?
Marry Me (2022)
Usual JLo fare
Marry Me offers the usual JLo fare, lots of skin and a raunchy Church number that will have Christians gasping for air. JLo makes the most of it since she is clearly aging like a plucked prune. The story covers all the worn out cliches and characters from hundreds of previous films covering 2 opposites who fall in love.
Owen Wilson was well cast as the empathetic math teacher and his low key , light hearted approach is what kept me watching. Otherwise I would have watched Intolerable Cruelty again.
Spirit Untamed (2021)
Good film... But.
Another girls movie where 98% of the males are portrayed in a negative light. My 15 year old twin daughters loved it.
My son not so much.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
The Golden Tail
Remember Continental Airlines getting flack over their
slogan " we'll move our tail for you " ?
Cassie shakes more than her tail, if you get my drift. The series is NOT
even a somewhat true depiction of life as a flight attendant. Booze and sex
are just used these days to hook wankers needing a " lift off ". You get ample doses of both in The Flight Attendant. It's juvenile fluff, nothing more.
Euphoria (2019)
In simple terms
Skip this series if you want a Feel Good moment in your day.
Euphoria is a depressing outlook on teenagers today and seems
to be made for shock value titillation with sex, violence and vulgar
language as common as weeds in our garden.
Where are the parents, the role models, the teenagers who take life
a bit more responsibly ?
Fatman (2020)
Not really Christmas at all
Fatman uses Christmas as a vehicle for another Mel Gibson flop.
The use of the F word and the gratuitous violence including the
killing of totally innocent people are NOT exactly Christmas fair.
Bad boy Billy, a rich, spoiled little twerk hires a hit man to kill Santa and
cut off his head. In the meantime, Billy steals grandma's checks and tries to
poison her to death by spiking her milk. The hitman does his job but at the shootout, the hundreds of elves and 1000's of soldiers supposedly at the scene, magically disappear. Chris Cringle miraculously survives, finds Billy and warns him Never to be a bad boy again. End of Story. This movie is definitely NOT a feel good Christmas movie.
Secret City (2016)
Streeeeetch your imagination
Secret City is mediocre entertainment given serious reviews by the same
people who find Will Ferrell hilarious.
The F em and leave em Harriet is a trait stolen from the great Prime Suspect
series . The American Ambassador is woefully misrepresented and NO Prime Minister would meet with ANYONE alone in a non secured rendezvous location.
The acting was good, the story line mildly plausible . Poor Felix.
Lost Girls and Love Hotels (2020)
Boring and Shallow
If it weren't for Alexandra Dadarrios huge blue/green eyes, She wouldn't even be on screen. A boring romp through Tokyo's one hour hotels with the usual characteristics of a loser attributed to lead character Margaret; chain smoker, chronic drinker and irresponsible worker. How rich, handsome Yakuza member Kazu would even find her even remotely attractive is dumbfounding. There was Zero chemistry between the 2 lovers. Glad I was able to fast forward through this film and relegate to a wasted 30 minutes.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Duuuhhhh
If you like Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell movies, you will like
Bill &Ted. The acting was mediocre, the story line sub par and
the laugh lines , well - it suits a certain audience.
We fast forwarded most of the film just to get it over with.
Giri/Haji (2019)
Close but No Cigar
Giri Haji starts out promising enough but quickly descends into
the usual F word laced films that defy logic. Having a spoiled daughter
catch a plane to London and be left to pal around with a drug addicted
narcissist by a supposedly caring father is a stretch. When the daughter says she likes a girl ( who is years older than her ) the father just shrugs, " as long as she is happy ". Imagine a 24 year old man coming to pick up your 16 daughter for a date. The movie never gained serious traction other than an action movie with plenty of holes.
The Last Days of American Crime (2020)
Bad acting & fake blood
It was easy to see right from the start this was going to be a B movie. Plenty of bad acting by all and gallons of blood so fake even a 5 year old could spot it.
Definitely not a feel good movie. Guys get shot at point blank in the chest but survive while others take a bullet from 100 yards and die instantly.
Had to FF to get through it.
