Life with Louie (1994–1998)
The best cartoon on television
7 July 2001
This show stands as the best cartoon ever, in my opinion. People always say the Simpsons or King of the Hill take the honour, but this was funny more often. All scenes had funny parts in them somewhere. But the truly delightful scenes are the ones between Louie and his Father. They made a comic pairing for the ages. The episode where Louie joined the baseball team is still the greatest cartoon episode ever written. It was indeed a dark day in television history when Louie went off the air. The brightest pearl is never discovered, and this is the brightest pearl of them all.

Slapstick is annoying
22 June 2001
Lee Evans is a very talented man, and so are all the cast and crew, but Sitcom isn't the place for him. I love his one man act because he doesn't come across as annoying, here he does. Sorry Lee, the show wasn't as good as it could have been.

Only Fools and Horses (1981–2003)
Dodgy dealer

Truly the greatest show of all time, better than Fawlty Towers. Fawlty Towers had few episodes and kept fresh, but it was never as funny as this. So many sitcoms cram a joke every two or three lines, not this show. This show has a basis in reality and still was funny. The Batman and Robin scene is still hilarious after five years and then there is the legendary Trigger. We all miss it, we all want it back and we need another sitcom like this. Unsurpassable and the greatest sitcom ever filmed. THE GREATEST TV SHOW OF ALL TIME. With Del Boy the greatest character of all time. THE BEST THERE IS, THE BEST THERE WAS, AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE.

House of Mouse (2001–2003)
While the cats away.......

This new show is not just a rehash of Mickey Mouseworks, as I had previously thought. It has new shorts and it is also a great premise, all the wonderful characters in one room, what could go wrong. Nothing does go wrong. For the first time ever the cartoons border on reality, one episode mentioned the fact that there would be many broken bones suffered in that short. There are some great one-liners and some handy references to modern culture, splashing pumpkins. I wasn't quite ready for Mouseworks to go, but I will be destroyed if this little beauty leaves the air. Donald is still the best character, with Goofy not too far behind. We all love Disney, so succumb to this cartoons advances. Depending on your age it is actually better than "The Simpsons."

Gideon (1998)
10/10
Simple and very effective
21 May 2001
Gideon is the sort of film they don't want to be made anymore. No special effects or big fight scenes with a twist in the tale. No, this is simple. Christopher Lambert will probably die known as his most famous role, "The Highlander". Why? He is given a soft and razor sharp script and delivers a performance that shines down on you. He acts on a par with the finest actor, perhaps, living today. Gideon is a man who can't read on any level and has the mind of a child. He is sent to an old folks home, though not at the blossoming age, to enliven the lives of the residents. Not all take to him, but Addison does.

The story may sound familiar but comes off as the most original story in years. Charlton Heston and Lambert work so well together that it makes you think what sort of actor Lambert could be. His performance was as good as Russell Crowe's in "Gladiator." Extreme comparison, not in my opinion. Christopher Lambert could easily become a Hollywood superstar, If he was given a big movie in which to get the worlds attention. My only fear being that Lambert acts best in this sort of movie, and he has to. When you have Charlton Heston in a movie you have to act well just to get a mention. This film reinforces the fact that Charlton Heston is a screen legend. With the exception of Marlon Brando, the finest legendary actor living today. Gideon will not go down as a classic movie of it's time. In the old fashioned Hollywood, this could be a contender for some sort of Oscar. The films that win today, though powerful and exceptional, are big budget blockbusters. Gideon is not a big budget blockbuster, so it wouldn't get considered. It is a big shame indeed because Gideon is the best film I have seen and true classic, that may never be appreciated. It made me laugh at those moments where It had to. It also made me a appreciate the feeling that you area child at eighty years old, you are God's child. 10 OUT OF 10

The Godfather (1972)
1/10
GREAT AND A CLASSIC. BUT PERHAPS OVER-RATED?
21 May 2001
The Godfather is a great movie and, in a series of three, the quality didn't diminish. The second installment won the Oscar for best picture, and it deserved it. However for those who read the book first, it is all familiar territory. Marlon Brando has only been better in "On the Waterfront" and Al Pacino has never been better, that is saying something. The film is perfect, almost. The book is better than the film and rarely get's mentioned. Emotion is there, but an age old stereotype get's enforced along the way. Everything else is perfect and earns the honour of being a true classic. The problem with the first installment, the second one was somehow better.
