Interesting Astrology connection highlights this fun Academy drama!
I really found this show fun to watch! The action takes place in an Academy where Astrology dictates the powers of others. Yet all the drama of bullying, being the new kid, romance, cliques and school antics occurs. Xiao Zhan and other members of The C-Pop band XNINE are amongst the cast. They do many of their own stunts and add a fresh faced youthfulness to the series!

Xiao Zhan is great in this show! If you like costumed dramas you will really enjoy this one! I like the combination of action, adventure, court intrigue and humor interwoven in this fun upbeat show. I love period pieces and costume dramas and this one you'll find yourself getting addicted to as you watch it!
Zhu xian I (2019)
Loved seeing Xiao Zhan in another awesome show! Everything he is in is always soooo good!!!
After seeing "The Untamed" I became a fan of costume dramas but also a devoted fan of Xiao Zhans and went searching for more things in it. "The Untamed" was sooooooo good in so many ways I never imagined or expected that I could not wait to see something else with him in just to see if was that addictively cute and adventurous in everything or just in "The Untamed". I also can not get enough of that dazzling bright smile that can melt my heart one minute and bring in the sun with its pure light the next. I love the fantasy elements of this show, the humor but mostly I love to See Xiao Zhan battling against more obstacles. This character was both uniquely different than his character in "The Untamed" but also had all the wonderful elements I've come to associate with Xiao Zhan. He is just so relatable and his emotions so genuine and clear you can't help feel empathy with him and root for him! I'm so hoping there be a Jade Dynasty two so we can follow thus character through further adventures! I hope they make a movie out of the game Xiao Zhan is the spokesperson for as well! Any one who ever sees Xiao Zhan play a role once will never forget and will wait to find more to immerse themselves in and if haven't discovered the world of wuxian costumes dramas or you just like fantasy and a beautiful fun adventurous show that will hold your interest make sure you watch it! You'll really enjoy it and become a Xiao Zhan fan!
Chen qing ling (2019)
The best live action version of an anime I have ever seen from any country! It's fantastic!
I was drawn in to watch this series a year before I actually found it....by a teaser that played at the end of a utube video. A haunting flute melody played with nothing more than fog showing on a moonlit night, mostly clinging to the Landscape. As the fog rolled back, the moons light illuminated the mysterious image of a man with dark hair and dark piercing eyes looking directly at me over a dark flute, with dark resenful energy pouring off of it and swirling about him. I was hooked from that moment on. That image of Xiao Zhan playing Wei Ying sent me scouring anime, movie, TV listings, guides and newsletters trying to figure out what the show was because the first teaser didn't even show at name. Finally the third teaser of the year showed a title in Chinese. I had never seen any show in Chinese but I knew I wanted to see this one. In scouring the Internet for information on it there was an English translation of the novel it was based on, a manga and an anime. I had seen Japanese anime and read English, Japanese and Korean manga but never even heard of Chinese manga or anime. All had English translations and subtitles so I started with the novel translation first and then read it thru hanging on from chapter to chapter and each was soooo good. The manga link was posted so I started reading it as well. The art was just soooo beautiful and exotic and depicted the characters so well. Then I watched the anime and couldn't believe how good it was. It added more to the story from different perspective, adding a whole other element to the story. By this time I had had become so attached with the character Wei Ying, I felt no one could ever embody these characters well enough in film by then because both Wei Ying and Lan Zhan were such unique characters so I initially watched the first episode of "The Untamed" to see the person in those original teasers because I had been waiting a year and still not seen the live version. My mind was blown in episode one! Not only did Xiao Zhan sooo perfectly embody the character Wei Ying in every look, mannerism and emotion but he was even better. It was like adding 3-D in surround to a story you thought you knew but then it cones to life and you are in it and see every nuance and so many things you never noticed or thought of before. It answers questions and brings to light things none of the versions did and it's so much easier to follow and figure out the interdynamics in the live version. It was even more lush delectable and powerful in every way than I could have possibly imagined. I had never seen a Chinese wuxian costume drama but now forever after I am a fan and this show opened up a whole genre of film for me I had never even known was there! I loved it's action, it's adventure, it's scenic beauty, the interwoven plot and the intrigue, that even when you think you have finally solved the spider web of the pot and really understood who the bad guys were and what it was all about postively throws you again and sends you for a loop when you realize who the real mastermind was behind it all. In viewing all of the other other versions I had not gotten that. It's really such a statement on society in the end that you will never forget the lesson it teaches about what evil truly exists in the world but nor will you ever forget the angst, the pain you feel Wei Ying go thru, nor will you forget the humor and mischief behind his smile, his bravery, his ability to endure against all odds and his ability to accept change and be totally selfless as he ensures those he cares for are avenged. Xiao Zhan is so relatable, real, genuine and expressive in this role you will find yourself understanding and feeling every emotion along with him as Wei Ying.
I went through every emotion in this show and at some points it ripped my heart out and at others it made me laugh and that dazzling smile of Xiao Zhans as Wei Ying felt like the sun had come out each time I saw it. Anyone who watches this show will be addicted just as I was. Each and every person I have recommended it to loved and most ended up watching it again. After watching it now for a fourth time during the global pandemic, with at least 60 others who were binge watching it and sharing comments on social media about things they loved, I realized I want to share it with even more people because it's something everyone will enjoy and never forget! I love Avengers films, complex intriguing mysteries, thrillers and shows like Sherlock. This series has all of these elements but a beauty, artistry and magic all its own that feels exotic and transports you and yet also like the family you find yourself becoming protective of as they surmount each obstacle. You will love it! You'll also at the end find yourself wishing you could be transported to where he and a whole world exists you never even knew of before. Then looking to find more shows with Xiao Zhan in them just to see that enigmatic dazzling smile and check to make sure he's not the real Wei Ying walking amongst us today!
